Lakeside Occasions is a family-owned wedding barn in the heart of northern Indiana's Amish country. Our historic dairy barn was built in the late 1880's and has been in the family ever since! Built in 1893, the former city hall of Fort Wayne is a beautiful example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. The Hopewell Barn is located about 1/2 mile south of the historic Hopewell Church. Built in 1872 and purchased by Deb in 2018, the church is listed on National Historic Register for its ties to Gene Stratton Porter. Gene was a famous author in the early 1900’s and the area of ‘Hopewell’ was used as the locale for the settings for several of her books. The name ‘Rustic Barn at Hopewell’ was selected to pay tribute to historic roots of the Hopewell area.

From its historical beginnings as a stoic munitions depot, The Armory experienced a beautiful transformation to showcase a sophisticated ballroom, classy built-in bar and impressive commercial kitchen. Original element of the 1928 Armory construction and subsequent Newman Recreations Center were incorporated into the even space renovation to provide the perfect blend of past and present.Iron-barred doors used to secure armers and thick concrete walls reinforced with brick to accommodate the National Guard Armory and shooting range lend a rustic industrial aesthetic. Wood from the recreation center bleachers line the dramatic bar and the orginial hardwood floor was dressed up to grace the ballroom. The vaulted timber ceilings and exposed truss work allow the dazzling period chandeliers an opportunity to lend an air of elegance to the urban decor. Charm abounds in the union of classic architecture with a modern flair.

Since 1830, this church has been a foundation of this community as the first and oldest recorded church within the quaint beach town of St. Joseph, Michigan. Now, we are opening our venue up to the community for booking weddings! Our rental fee for the ceremony space of $1385 includes: rental of the venue (indoor sanctuary/outdoor courtyard), officiant services, wedding coordinator, custodial services, and premarital counseling materials, and rehearsal time ($100 additional if you plan to serve food at the rehearsal). If the sanctuary is rented, the price also includes a computer operator/pianist & audio tech to run the sound system. The Gala Barn schedules one wedding a weekend, with our wedding parties able to use the Gala Barn Friday morning to Sunday morning to prepare for the ceremony and reception as they would like.
