About this venue
Historical venue hosting couples worldwide for 24 years. "A timeless beauty" . Voted "Best Wedding Venue" by Brides Magazine. The venue sits in the country side of Southwest Michigan. Providing a timeless earthly elegance for you and your guest to celebrate. The venue seats up to 280 people, You are able to create your own experience by choosing your own caterer and provide/buy your own alcohol. FIrepit and horseshoe with a 1970 camper " big blue for grooms room and the lovely renaissance rose room for the bridal studio.

Venue of dreams
From the moment we first spoke with the team at Blue Dress Barn, we were impressed by their thoughtful, warm, and thorough communication style. The venue itself is truly unique - nestled in a gorgeous natural setting that required minimal additional decor to create a stunning, customizable backdrop for our wedding day. On the day of, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was exactly as we had envisioned, even setting extra decor featuring our names. We were thrilled to see a recap video they made on their social media the next morning! We will cherish that forever. Blue Dress Barn provided an incredible value, with many local vendor options recommended by the team, and a space so naturally beautiful that we didn't need to worry about overdoing the decor. We received so many compliments from our guests that it was the best wedding venue they had ever seen. We feel so lucky to have celebrated our special day at Blue Dress Barn. Photos: 430Studios
The Best of the Best!
Words truly can’t describe the incredible experience that we had at the Blue Dress Barn! The entire team and staff were so helpful to us leading up to our big day. Their communication is unmatched and they made our wedding day so special. The grounds were GORGEOUS for our October 4th wedding date and everything ran like a well-oiled machine. The employees and Georgia made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. We can’t count how many people came up to us and told us they could not believe all of the natural beauty from this venue. It is truly stunning and THE dream venue to be married in. We were on cloud 9 all evening (and still are)! Our guests are still raving about it! Amelia was a dream to work with! Thank you, BDB, for EVERYTHING! We will remember our wedding day and how amazing it was FOREVER!!!
Wedding 10/6/24
The venue itself was absolutely stunning! Our guests were in awe of the grounds! The only thing that we didn’t love, was the fact that the venue only allows for people to do their DIY setup at noon. This includes vendor arrival. Even though we had a handful of family members who did the best they could, we only had enough time to put up half our decorations. For reference, our ring ceremony was at 3pm. We asked our guests to arrive at 2:30pm. There is also NO day of coordinator. Before you sign the contract please read the fine print! We were offered to be able to start setting up decor at 11am but that was an additional 400!!!! Which was super disappointing. Also, in order toss any rose petals or other florals (like for your flower girls) you must pick up all the petals or you’ll be fined another 300!!!! Which in essence isn’t the end of the world, but that’s the last thing we should be worried about on our wedding day! About half way through the night, the women’s bathroom ran out of paper towels and no one from the venue brought us new ones. Also, our wedding was on a Sunday and there are NO UBERS or Lyfts that go out there so keep that in mind as well.
Response from vendor•Oct 9, 2024Dear Susie, first and foremost congrats. We were so thankful for you and excited as your wedding day approached. I’m glad you thought the venue was absolutely stunning. We’d like to address a few of your dissatisfied feelings Extra rental time. We don’t see why if you want to rent more time it should upset you that we charge by the hour for more time at the venue. We are a rental and that’s is what we do ? You never expressed to us you were upset A 3pm ceremony is about 1.5-2 hours earlier then we recommend. 4:30 is what we see most of the time. This is recommended on the suggested timeline on our website and given to you at your tour. Moving your ceremony would of been a great solution. Or. We do give the option on Sundays to move the 12 hour rental from 10am-10pm. This would of given you more time at the front of the day Flower petals : we have many couples who marry at the venue day after day. It’s important to us that the yard and grounds stay nice. Not all couples want white, red or pink petals down the arbor. I would think any rental would ask someone to pick up after themselves. We certainly don’t expect the bride or groom to do this but perhaps a family member or friend could help. The fine is set in place so they get picked up and frankly we’ve only had to charge someone maybe 6 times in the 23 years open. It’s a great way to keep people from throwing stuff on the grounds and walking away. No coordinator : that is correct and also in our agreement. Many venues do not have coordinators. Coordinators are different then a venue manager. Which we do have in place to greet your vendors and help them find their area and answer questions. I know our manager was present all day to assist anyone. She is always happy to help if asked. The paper towel. That’s frustrating and I will speak to our night staff. It’s silly because we have boxes n boxes of it. All they needed to do is get more. I know if both of our night staff was aware they would have restocked it. I think because we had two gentleman working that evening they felt uncomfortable walking into the bathroom and thought someone would ask. But ultimately it is their fault for not checking. I’m sorry that upset you so much that a it had to be in this review. Blue Dress Barn was the perfect venue for our wedding. Amelia was so amazing throughout the whole process - she helped me every step of the way! The space was huge and absolutely breathtaking. I still get compliments on my wedding a year later. They helped me plan and make things happen, and the barn itself was beautiful. Blue Dress Barn truly contributed to making our special day perfect.
