You generally only get one wedding, which means going into the day without knowing about a lot of the tiny details that go into making a wedding run smoothly. You do the research, you read the blogs, you study your friends' weddings and get tons of advice, but still you don't know what it's really like. The staff at Deity do--they do this every day. I could write about how great the space is, how much fun everyone had, and how reasonable the price was, and I'll get to all of that, but I want to emphasize what the pictures can't. Our wedding day ran smoothly and comfortably for us and our guests, and it's due to the staff at Deity. They anticipated our needs, gave us lots of helpful advice in both the planning stages and the day of, and went above and beyond to make sure we had the wedding we wanted. Anna, the coordinator, answered my endless emails and asked even more questions that hadn't occurred to me, and on the day of she handled everything so seamlessly I actually got to enjoy myself; Caio, the owner, gave our officiant (my brother) tips about when to move the mic for the smoothest possible ceremony, and made sure my train looked perfect right when I first stepped out into the aisle; and none of the staff batted an eye when I came down an hour before the guests were arriving to say I needed help hiding clues for a scavenger hunt that I had not told them I was planning. They made sure my husband and I got something to eat and a quiet moment to ourselves, they helped us load an Uber at almost midnight on a Sunday with all the stuff we'd brought. They made the whole day feel seamless and fun, and I cannot thank them enough. Also, so many of my guests made a point to tell me how good the food was. I'll admit, I was a little nervous about committing to the in-house catering without a tasting (we were lucky enough to get a sample from Chef James on our initial tour), but my fears were entirely unfounded. The passed appetizers were genuinely amazing, and the food served at the family-style dinner was tasty and actually hot, which I feel like is rare amongst weddings I've been to. They also were very helpful in accommodating our guests with dietary restrictions, including coordinating an order from a restaurant for a celiac guest, whom their kitchen wasn't equipped to serve. The bar was also great, helped us come up with custom cocktails, and there was cocktail service everywhere, including on the dance floor. When I factored in the food and drink to the total cost we paid for Deity, it's also a really good deal, compared to other local catering options! I won't say too much about the space because you can see it in the pictures and judge the vibe for yourself on a tour. But I will say that having different spaces for the different parts of the event was great, and having the suite for getting ready (and for retreating to when we needed a moment) was a godsend--not to mention wonderful for our photos! Sunset skyine photos without leaving the venue? Don't mind if I do! The location was great for both our in town guests, and those staying at nearby hotels. If you like the look of Deity, don't hesitate. I hope your wedding there turns out just as wonderful as ours!

Lizzie jumped in as our wedding planner midway through the planning process and didn’t miss a beat! She made every part of the process so seamless. We had a great experience with Steven. He was not afraid to make decisions and he pushed us to think about exactly what shots we wanted leading up to the wedding. He was open to our ideas but also had great ideas of his own, including making some suggestions about the positioning of the ceremony that resulted in not only making the pictures better but made sure all our guests could see. He was punctual on the day of the wedding and took time to come out to our venue in advance of the wedding to see how we might optimize the photos. His assistant was also very helpful at our pre-ceremony shoot.

Brooklyn Winery was the first venue that we looked at and we immediately knew that it was the perfect fit for us. The space is absolutely beautiful and has the perfect layout for a wedding. The greenery wall was the perfect backdrop for our wedding ceremony. We also loved the skylights and all of the fun lighting fixtures throughout the space, which made for such a cozy and intimate atmosphere. We also had wonderful interactions with every single person that we worked with at Brooklyn Winery. Our first conversation and venue tour with Tatiana was extremely informative and helped to answer all of the questions that we had. This made us feel comfortable in our decision to choose Brooklyn Winery for our wedding. We got to meet more of the venue staff during our tasting and all of them were so kind to us. Everyone came over to introduce themselves and get to know us. We had dinner at the restaurant after our final walkthrough and were able to see some of the venue staff from the tasting, who remembered us and happily accommodated our dietary restrictions. And most importantly, we absolutely LOVED working with our Event Manager, Marissa Allain! Marissa was incredibly helpful in the months leading up to the wedding, providing quick responses to all of our questions. She kept us organized and thought through every little detail so that everything would run smoothly on the day of the wedding. Marissa helped us feel at ease throughout the whole process of wedding planning. She was so warm, genuine, and thoughtful and we feel so lucky to have had her as our event manager. We don’t know how we could have done it without her. The food was also a highlight of having a wedding at Brooklyn Winery. We had several guests with food allergies / dietary restrictions including dairy free, gluten free, pescatarian, vegetarian, and more. Brooklyn Winery was able to help us modify the dishes that selected to accommodate all of these dietary restrictions and make sure that there would be something for everybody to enjoy. And the food was delicious! We were blown away at how good it was and received countless compliments from friends and family. Thank you to the Brooklyn Winery team for helping us have a beautiful wedding that we will remember for the rest of our lives :)!

Steph is a wizard, ninja, and a unicorn all rolled into one. From the minute we reached out to her she immediately made us know we were in good hands. She was clear, communicative, and professional, but every time we talked it still felt like talking to an old friend. (Several of our guests assumed that she WAS an old friend of ours who happened to be a photographer — that’s how warm and chill she is.) Ahead of time she was great about getting details of exactly what we wanted, so that on the big day she just slipped in and out seamlessly without pulling us away from the fun. She was also careful to figure out exactly what we wanted the vibes of the final product to be (candid, colorful, joyful) and she delivered in spades. The finished products are beautiful and were delivered quickly (both the digital copies and the physical prints we ordered). We cannot recommend her highly enough!

The moody purple and grey theme was executed so well and her artistic interpretation was just what I envisioned. Her Boutonnières had magnets to attach them and my husband was thrilled! I had a corsage for our city hall ceremony and a bouquet with individual hair pieces that she had in individual tubes so they would stay as fresh as possible as she delivered them the day before. We initially weren’t sure if we needed a coordinator to begin with, but are so glad we went with them, especially because it made the day completely stress free, not only for us as the couple, but just as importantly, for our family and wedding party. Joy gave us a spreadsheet to help us check off everything we needed for planning, created our timeline down to the minute for the day of, coordinated all communication with vendors leading up to and throughout the wedding, oversaw our rehearsal walk-through the day before (on site), and set up our decor for us. Special touches included being so kind to our flower girls and keeping them entertained (thank you to Joy’s assistant, Lindsey) during speeches, taking phenomenal candids and Polaroids throughout (we had a camera out for guests to use during reception, pic attached), and helping with my quick dress change. Joy & team are super organized, friendly, diligent, professional, and flexible — and they really care about everyone having a great time. Huge thanks for all you did to allow us to be 100% present with each other and with our loved ones on our special day!

Everybody needs a Raquel for their wedding! We had Raquel for 3 month coordination, and words alone cannot express how organized, professional, and seamless Raquel made the three months leading up to and on wedding day. Prior to the start of our coordination with Raquel, she provided us with a very organized, detailed spreadsheet to guide us through the wedding planning process. Raquel was the organization and detail behind every idea I brought to the table and helped to make our vision a reality! Raquel was my coordinator but doubled as my wedding therapist throughout the three months! Any wedding related question we had, Raquel was always there with a very thoughtful and speedy email response. Our experience with Farm to People was nothing short of perfect. The very beginning of our NYC venue search was somewhat disappointing; we had a unique, sorta non-traditional vision for our wedding and had trouble finding a venue that could help us properly execute on that vision. Where to even begin! First off, my wife and I had a fairly large wedding for NYC, roughly 200 people, so when we started to look at venues, we were so nervous about what we would find. Rule of Thids was actually the first venue we saw, and we were blown away by the space. If you’re renting out the full venue, you get access to the entire restaurant, plus the event space, as well as the outdoor area. It makes the flow of the wedding so nice, so everyone wasn’t crammed into one space as they were trying to flip it for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. We were also able to rent out the photo studio attached to the sake shop to get ready in, so we were on-site all day, which was AMAZING. We could easily discuss things with our day-of coordinator, florist, etc., and the space was so large and had impeccable light (our makeup artist and hair stylist were super happy with it!). We chose to use the venue coordinator, Julie, as our day of coordinator, and we cannot say enough good things about her. She was incredibly responsive, super organized, and comes from the wedding industry, so she brought up things that we didn’t even think to consider for the day of that were so helpful. Beyond that, she was so pleasant to work with and just had an amazing, chill vibe that everyone wants from their coordinator on the wedding day. It was also amazing that she works at the venue, so she knew all the ins and outs of the space and could easily coordinate with our other vendors. She helped ensure the bridal party was in the right places at the right time, moved people from room to room when needed, and helped us stay on track with the flow of the wedding, which was perfect and so seamless. She and the ROT team set up the entire space exactly as we envisioned, and everything looked beautiful! The venue is honestly perfect for a wedding. We were able to use private dining spaces in the venue for a photobooth and coat closet, plenty of bathrooms (not something you think about until you go to a wedding with too few!), an amazing outdoor space for guests to cool down/get away from the noise, a huge dance floor area, spacious dining room, and so many bars for our guests to go to. The staff were all amazing, endlessly refilling drinks and food, and everyone was incredibly nice. Even after all of the amazing things above, the best part about Rule of Thirds is the food. From the cocktail hour to the dessert, this food is amazing and well beyond typical wedding standards. We had so many guests tell us how good everything was, and we were told this was the first wedding at the venue where every single canape and raw bar item was eaten, so our guests were very happy! (if you can, splurge on the raw bar because it was so good!!) After the ceremony, they set up a spot for us to sample all the canapes and raw bar items, which we were super thankful for since we would never have eaten anything otherwise. We also had a very specific request for a mazeman noodle dish we had eaten when we toured the space a year prior, and the chef and team made it happen for us, which was AMAZING and so incredibly delicious. If you’re looking for a wedding venue and considering Rule of Thirds, DO IT! We wish we could relive the day all over again because it was so amazing, and we will forever be hoping someone else we know gets married here so we can experience something similar again.

We worked with Chef Jill to put together the most delicious menu of both apps and main courses. Everyone we spoke to after the wedding couldn’t stop raving about how good the food was. It honestly rivaled many of our favorite restaurants in NYC. In addition to the food, Chef Jill and her staff were amazing. They were so responsive throughout the whole wedding process and offered so many great recommendations. On the wedding day, the staff were very helpful with getting the rentals in order, setting up the tables, etc. We also had some guests thank us for how allergy conscious the wedding and staff were. Kendra did the best job with our wedding flowers! At first we were not sure if we even wanted a florist, given the cost of other florists in our area, but at the suggestion of a friend who worked with Kendra for her wedding a few years ago, we gave Kendra a call. She is the nicest florist who didn't make us feel bad for our (relatively) small budget, and worked with us on a beautiful floral scheme that was tasteful but exquisite -- just what we wanted! She went totally above and beyond what we paid for, providing us with a chuppah design that was extraordinary (given that we thought we could only afford something small), and a bridal bouquet/center pieces to die for. She helped us stay within our budget while giving us even more than we could dream of for florals. After speaking with other florists who laughed in our faces about our budget, Kendra was kind, accommodating, and creative with our wedding florals. She is a one-of-a-kind florist and we highly, highly recommend you hire her!

The venue itself was perfect for our big day. It’s a rustic raw space, but the wood and brick finishes make it warm and inviting. I docked a star because they tried to pull one over on us. When we first booked, they sent a brochure that clearly stated the venue included chiavari chairs, however, when we checked in to confirm the furniture inventory, we were told they never had chiavari chairs and I must be mistaken. When I sent the screenshot and the email with the brochure, they had no explanation. So, I will say this— it’s a nice space, but beware of false advertising.
