Remnants of a 200-year-old stone barn, a springhouse, protected forests, abundant wildlife and a 55-acre arboretum paint a scene of incredible beauty and tranquility. Formal gardens and terraces surround the venerable estate house, its earliest roots traced back to the 1740s. Listed on the National Historic Register, the residence lends a time-honored backdrop for indoor/outdoor events. Welkinweir is the home of Green Valley Watershed Association, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to protect and preserve the water resources of Northern Chester County through advocacy and education. The building that houses the Club was originally built in 1928 by The Women’s Club of Allentown. It was later purchased by The Bar Association of Lehigh County in 1991, where it underwent extensive renovations to restore it to its original grandeur. In 2008 the building underwent a $250,000 renovation to once again update the facility with new carpet, hardwood floors, audio/visual, upgraded kitchen appliances, fresh paint, a new bar, resurfaced parking lot and the creation of an intimate garden in the rear of the building for outdoor intimate affairs. Today, the building currently houses the offices for The Bar Association of Lehigh County and is available to the general public to be rented for special events.
