The Carolyn Baldwin Lake Pavilion is named after our dear loved one, Carolyn Varner Baldwin, who unexpectedly passed away in 2008 due to an allergic reaction. We are Amy & Jackson Smith, a husband and wife team, who met through photography. We fell in love and got married 6 years ago in our own backyard right here in Charlottesville. I have been honored to be part of the Charlottesville and Central Virginia local food community since 1993, working as a chef, caterer, baker, barista, and farmer. Now I am using my experience and knowledge of our area, its venues, farms and resources to create one of a kind, delicious desserts. Host an unforgettable event at Castle Hill Cider on 600 acres of rolling Virginia countryside. Our variety of venues, both indoors and out, provide ample space for a maximum of 350 guests. From a ceremony beneath centuries-old Linden trees to cocktail hour on the terrace to dancing the night away in our 10,000 square foot barn - Castle Hill Cider is truly a dream wedding venue.

Kardinal Hall is a modern take on an Alpine-inspired beer hall & garden. Centrally located in the historic art-deco Coca-Cola building built in 1939, the repurposed warehouse and bottling plant is situated in Charlottesville’s Midtown area between Downtown and UVA. We boast a large patio with an outdoor bar, classic German Biergarten tables, and two professional-level bocce courts. Enjoy the rustic-modern elements of our spacious Main Hall, sprawling indoor bar, and private back room. A perfect location for your urban wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, welcome party, and everything in between!

Couples can host a gorgeous outside ceremony on the concrete patio, or opt for a covered pavilion ceremony. The pavilion is open on three sides to bring the beautiful scenery indoors, but the sides and barn-style doors can be closed in the event of inclement weather. Inside the pavilion, lighting is provided by lanterns and chandeliers, and a large hand-crafted fireplace takes spotlight, with rocks from the farm incorporated into its design. The outdoor patio is attached to the pavilion, creating an extra space that can be used for a ceremony, reception area, or dance floor. A second pavilion was completed in 2018 to provide reception space that is separate from the ceremony site, but within close proximity. This pavilion is completely enclosed and offers a gas fireplace as well as lanterns and chandeliers for lighting. As wedding guests arrive, wedding parties can use the bridal suite to get ready.

I started my photography business when everything was shutting down due to COVID (great time to start a business right? LOL! But that did not stop me from doing what I love! I used that time to learn and grow my business. I know, I still got a lot to learn, but I am confident enough to give you not just amazing photos, but also a memorable and fun experience each session.
