Second Song

5.0

Los Angeles, CA
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,495

Second Song is a boutique Wedding and Event DJ/MC service. We are a network of some of the most experienced and most referred DJ/MCs in Southern California, and specialize in DJs that focus on providing you with a complete music and planning experience.

Awarded Best of Zola
Choosing second song as our DJ service for our wedding was the best decision we could have made!! The team is so accommodating and made the process of choosing our DJ so easy. After choosing second song, they allowed us to set up phone calls to interview DJ's to find the perfect fit for us. We ended up choosing DJ Daniel Cabral. Daniel was attentive and set up multiple meetings with us prior to our wedding to discuss our vision for our wedding day. Everything ran perfectly throughout the entire day. The audio for our ceremony was perfect and the music selections throughout cocktail hour, dinner, and the reception set the mood for our wedding. We also hired a string trio through second song and they did a beautiful job at our ceremony and cocktail hour. Our reception was a party and Daniel made sure people were on the dance floor all night long. We also had my cousin play the trumpet at our reception while Daniel played a song in the background. Daniel mic'd up his trumpet for us and it was such a hit! We also got our Photo Booth through second song and they provided the uplighting at the venue! They are everything you could want from a DJ service and more!! If you are looking for a DJ service, second song is the way to go!!!!

Randall de Leon Photography

5.0

Los Angeles, CA
  • Photographer
  • Classic style
  • Starts at $2,000

Photography has always been a lifelong passion of mine, I picked up my first camera as a gift from my dad when I was 14 years old. Never in a million years would I have thought that my lifelong hobby could eventually become my career. I focused on my future, working my way through college and grad school to achieve my license to practice, but a part of me realized that I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to go on adventures and meet a lot of new people. So in 2019, I took that risk, changed my hours from full time to part time and put more focus on my photography. I booked my first gig later that year and have never looked back.

Awarded Best of Zola
We absolutely love working with Randall! He has been our go-to family photographer for years, capturing everything from my sisters' and cousins' special moments to my graduation and most recently, my wedding. Randall is incredibly easy to get along with, always professional, and super responsive. I never had to worry about a thing, he came fully prepared for our big day and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. He has a great way of making everyone feel comfortable, which really shows in the beautiful photos he takes. We will continue to hire and recommend Randall every chance we get. He’s awesome, and I 100% recommend him to anyone looking for stunning, heartfelt photography!

My partner and I’s venue search ended the second we ascended in the historical elevator to the penthouse of the James Oviatt Building. The Oviatt venue is a multifaceted piece of beautiful Art Deco history that lends itself well to whatever event you are trying to throw. In our case, they hosted our wedding. We will forever be grateful for their immense care and kindness leading up to, on, and after the big day. We met the President Gabe first, who had his own wedding at this venue before he managed it. He made us feel right at home and answered every question we could muster. Our one hour showing turned into a two and a half hour conversation where his care and passion for the venue and his clients became very clear. We felt a connection right away. He shared a wealth of great advise and reassurances and gave us an impeccable pool of preferred vendors. We were sold in minutes. Every event is different, but my partner and I did not feel the space needed any help to become beautiful. The architectural art of the space is breathtaking and unique from the valet area outside of the Cicada Club all the way to the terrace. We saved a fortune on a florist. Who needs one when everything is already so classy? Speaking of class, the Director of Events Lindsey took point on execution and was our resource during the planning process. I as an individual am not the most communicative. I needed someone with that attention to detail and she delivered. After giving her all the venue required specifications (seating chart, insurances, etc,) two conversations was all it took for her to equip the venue with everything it needed and make it gorgeous. It seemed effortless for her. Not a spec of dust or dirt to be seen and the staff was respectful, efficient, and welcoming. I had a panic attack because I forgot to ask them for valet and she was able to get her people on it without issue the same week as the wedding. (Don’t be like me, but that is a perfect example of how on top of it they are.) They had EVERYTHING we could have wanted for a downtown metropolitan wedding and then some. If they didn’t have it? They knew exactly where to refer you. One of my personal favorite features was their completely customizable LED lighting strips on the hedges that lined either side of the rooftop. We had them a bright warm light for dinner and then a cycle of rainbow colors for dancing. They are inclusive and welcoming to any and all who come to visit. We felt valued, respected, and well cared for. It truly was the best day of our lives and we owe it all to The Oviatt. I implore to to reach out to them. I can say with certainty that you won’t be disappointed and whatever it is you are planning will become a memorable experience unlike any other.

Our experience with Xenia and Mark (videographer) was truly amazing. Xenia is truly a dedicated professional and her camera work is truly phenomenal. We booked Xenia for both our engagement and wedding photos and she completely exceeded my expectations! We originally booked Xenia and Mark for our wedding in May but unfortunately our wedding venue closed last minute and we were left to scramble in finding a new venue and once we did Xenia was so accommodating and made the new wedding date work. Xenia and Mark are super easy to work with; truly genuine individuals! I scoured through hundreds of photographers before I came across Xenia and honestly, none of them compared to her work and eye for photography. Stop your search and book her; I promise you won't regret it. Thank you, Xenia and Mark!

DJ Trey Money

5.0

Los Angeles, CA
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,000
  • Offer

My focus is quality. I take my job seriously and I hope that I can make you happy so that you’ll consider me for your next event, and any event thereafter. Checkout my LinkTree for upcoming events, more reviews, and to visit my instagram. Let's team up and create memories! It is important for me to articulate, that I serve ALL PEOPLE EQUITABLY!! However, I do want to note that I do require that the couple has a Day of Coordinator (not the venue coordinator as they are different). Otherwise, I will also charge for coordination services as that puts the burden of day of logistics on the DJ.

Awarded Best of Zola
Literally from the first interaction, Trey was thoroughly professional. We knew instantly that we'd be in good hands during the process, and he maintained through the big day. With Trey, we always had clarity over next steps, and we also got as much flexibility as we could ever hope for. We had a slightly unusual (or, unconventional) ceremony in a couple of ways, and Trey handled every request without any issue. Lastly, and most importantly for a DJ, he nailed the music. We felt like he "got" us while also filling in the gaps appropriately. A true professional, and we feel fortunate having him on the deck for our celebration.

Dart Collective

Started as a group of DJs in 2013, Dart Collective has now grown to include numerous live musicians and performers, all with the same simple goal of offering a more customized and personal approach to music curation at weddings and special events. Dart has also grown geographically, serving Los Angeles, San Francisco and Austin based clients locally, and destination clients all over the world. At Dart, we are all working DJs and musicians. Music is our passion and we want to share it with you and your guests. Our main goal here is to elevate and personalize your event so that it uniquely represents you.

Awarded Best of Zola
Our experience with Dart Collective was extremely positive, and I would definitely recommend them. Santiago's communication was top-notch, and their thorough questionnaire made me feel really taken care of. We had a few last minute changes that required adding on some equipment, and Santiago handled it swiftly. I really appreciated the vendors that eliminated added stress by being prompt and responsive, so thank you Santiago! Some Pros from the night: - I often find wedding DJs to be way too cheesy/hammy or super low-energy and disinterested. Our DJ was lively and engaged but not over the top, it was perfect. I also appreciated how well he was dressed! - My Do Not Play list was loooooong and they stuck to it! - I definitely felt like he read the room and switched up the vibe as needed - The DJ booth set up was a pleasant surprise - it was really cool! I wasn't expecting more than just a table and black table cloth. But the nice equipment and the vinyl records on display really added a lot and complimented the vintage feel of the space. Guests noticed and were complimentary, too! Cons: -Only one "con" and it's nothing major, but we did opt for the live musician accompanists and I'm not sure it was worth the added cost. I was expecting the live music aspect to bring some additional energy, but they actually were pretty subdued and hung back by the speaker. I'm honestly not certain everyone even noticed they were there.

Weddings By Trang

5.0

Los Angeles, CA
  • Planner
  • Offers 3 services
  • Starts at $1,500

This is one occasion that you deserve to be completely focused on what’s important – having fun and relaxing with friends, family and getting married to your amazing person. On your big day, we handle anything unexpected and troubleshoot last minute emergencies behind the scenes, so that you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Awarded Best of Zola
In beginning our wedding planning, we interviewed a few Day-of Coordinators, however, our conversation with Trang left us feeling most comfortable and confident in her expertise. In our initial consultation, we were able to get a really good glimpse of her passion and energy from the start. We were so comfortable in our conversation, that it felt like we’ve known her for years. We connected most with her services that we even opted instead for her Partial Wedding package, a service that proved to be immensely helpful and insightful, 6 months before our wedding. Trang just brings so much professionalism to her work. She’s constantly on top of our clients’ messages and shares important memos with us the moment they arise. She walks through wedding agendas with such grace and always has answers to our numerous questions and ideas. Even when we get a little too ambitious, Trang gladly helped us figure out ways to make it work. She was such a good listener and paid careful attention to every detail. We both felt that every minute with Trang was valued and well-spent. She has an innate ability to click and collaborate with her clients, not just as a coordinator, but as a friend, which felt so unique to us when it came to looking for coordinators. Her demeanor was so comforting, empathetic, and supportive, and she managed to maintain confidence and ease in our ideas. Trang took the time to really understand what we envisioned. Her experience in her profession was very apparent as she provided numerous insights to support us through our journey. Trang cares about the people she works with and it shows in every interaction. On the day of our wedding, a few challenges out of our control occurred; however, Trang made sure the event ran smoothly and without a hitch. We would’ve never known because of her quick actions and responses to any interruptions. Trang took very careful note of things that occurred throughout the evening and kept our best intentions in mind, even saving us money post wedding! She could’ve easily walked away post-event without informing us of such details and events, but the fact she did says a lot about her character and professionalism. All in all, please hire Trang as your wedding coordinator! She completely eased our minds through the 6 months of wedding planning and conducts so much behind the scenes to ensure that we fully celebrate our wedding with our guests without a hitch. On top of all this, we feel like we’ve really gained a nice relationship with Trang through this process, which made the wedding planning feel like working with a friend. Honestly, what more can you ask for. :) Thank you Trang, from the bottom of our hearts! 3

We really appreciated her professionalism and open-mindedness since she hadn’t been to either location before. We received our wedding photos about a month ago and we were so impressed with the quantity and quality of photos! The variety and naturalism is exactly what we had in mind. Sandy's attention to detail was evident during the test trial, where she took meticulous notes and followed up afterward to get my feedback. On the day of the wedding, my makeup and hair looked amazing - she executed the look I had shown her in my inspiration photos perfectly. The Moon Units: Weddings & Events

5.0

Los Angeles, CA
  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $3,500

Hi, we're The Moon Units! We're known throughout California for our 650+ song list, our authentic on-stage chemistry, and performances that clients have called "better than the original bands" that recorded the songs. And because we're a real band, we offer prices that are just a fraction of what corporate booking agencies charge. We can't wait to play for you!

Awarded Best of Zola
The Moon Units made my wedding. It all started when my wife (fiancee at the time) forwarded me an Instagram clip of them because she knew I was set on hiring a live band. I took my sweet time to cast a wide net and to follow, interview, and compare A LOT of bands. We went out to watch our top two choices and when we saw The Moon Units' positive energy, ability to rock the crowd, and musical skill, we immediately knew that they were meant to be our band (just like when we saw the venue we wanted, we just knew). They are highly accommodating, musically versatile, and truly professional, Hollywood type performers who will seal the deal on upgrading your wedding from already great to one of the greatest your guests have ever been to. The three things that most impressed me about them during my wedding were: 1) they gave it their all on every song whether there were two people on the dance floor or the whole group (and believe me, your guests will notice this too), 2) they were able to improvise to seamlessly integrate with all my other vendors and moving parts without any interruptions, as if my wedding was truly an entertainment production, and 3) whether they were singing rock, hiphop (yacht version), metal, r&b, pop, Kpop, oldies, or jazz, they performed as if it was their main genre. We requested them to learn two of our favorite songs that we loved but were skeptical that they could perform because of how hard they were to sing, and man did they prove us wrong! Each of the musicians are friendly, multi talented/multi instrument, down to earth people who love what they do and have a great time performing. They output pure sound candy and also look great doing it. Your stage will be glammed up and filled out, and your guests will compliment and remember your band choice even more than your food, I guarantee it. My wife and I are now semi-groupies (and I'm not ashamed as their gigs take me back to the best night of my life), and we aren't the only ones! That's something that no Youtube clip or online review can really convey. Good luck and have a great time wedding planning, but hire The Moon Units!!!

LA Production's team was really professional and made it stress-free for us to go through the entire process. They captured the special moments of our wedding that we will now be able to look back to any time we want and feel the exact emotions we felt during those moments. We are glad we made the decision of having a video service for our wedding because now we can share things like our ceremony, our vows, cheering, speeches, dances, and more with our friends and family.

Since receiving our wedding photos from Jess, several of my friends and family members (including 2 professional photographers!) have asked me for her contact info because of how amazing her photos are!! When we started looking for a wedding photographer, we knew that we needed to find someone with a great eye for candids, who wouldn't make our pictures feel too staged, who had a fun/funky vibe like us, and who could handle wrangling my extremely large family (full of very opinionated people) for family photos, and Jess handled everything with ease! I feel so lucky that we found Jess, and I cannot recommend her more. Jess made everyone feel comfortable throughout the entire wedding day, and even gave guidance to family members who are normally awkward in photos (e.g. suggesting ways to pose to make them more comfortable). Jess went above and beyond throughout the entire planning process, checking in with us, getting to know us, and even coming to a venue walkthrough so she could get a sense of the space! I am so grateful for all of the work Jess put into our wedding, and the photos turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I rarely even like photos of myself, but I honestly am so in love with the ones that Jess took that I jump on every opportunity to whip out my phone and share them with friends!

It Could All Be So Simple

5.0

Los Angeles, CA
  • Planner
  • Offers 3 services
  • Starts at $2,140

I have worked in event planning for a few years now. For weddings in particular, I have always worked on the vendor management side of things. When my vendors constantly asked why I wasn't a coordinator myself, I realized that I hadn't even considered it.

To say that B is a miracle worker and a blessing is an understatement. A little background: Like many brides, I thought I could do this all on my own. However, 3 months until our wedding, I finally came to understand that I need help, and I am so lucky to have found B (or more like so lucky she never gave up in reaching out to me). My one regret is that I did not go to her sooner. If you want a wedding planner who is hard working, zero-nonsense, extremely organized, and will make you feel like their #1, B is for you. I told her when getting started that I need someone who will hand my hand as if I am a 12 yo during this whole process, and she did it. She relieved so much of my stress, was an amazing soundboard during this whole process, was my #1 advocate. She knew when to give me the "I gotchu" to the "I am going to be real with you..." I did not think I would be able to enjoy my wedding as the bride, but B made it a priority that my husband and I, as well as our entire family and all of our guests, enjoy this special day. I am so happy to say, that she did it. Everyone, including myself, had an amazing, smooth wedding day, and it was all thanks to her. I cannot vouch for B enough. Yes, she really is the best thing ever. Yes, she is really that affordable (despite all of us telling her she is under-charging). And yes, I still wish I could hire her as my life coach. Ladies (and gents): If you are looking for a wedding planner, I cannot emphasize my absolute adoration and love for this woman. She pulled off miracle in my eyes.

Josh was super amazing! Not only did he do a great job photography wise but, he was super helpful and accommodating to all of the chaos that occurred on my wedding day. He also tried to ensure that the vibes are not awkward and tries to keep things comfortable. During the engagement shoot my husband and I had with him, he would say something funny that would break the tension and awkwardness and make us laugh and feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend him infinity times over!

After a number of visits to potential wedding venues that just didn't feel right, my wife and I felt like a miracle had happened when we found Seventh Place. Seventh Place is a venue where you can truly execute your own vision, whatever it may be, while the space still brings a quality and characteristic that feels so unique to wedding venues. Having moved to Los Angeles from New York City, my wife and I were hoping to bring a bit of that Brooklyn energy to our wedding day, and the lovely brick interior and beautiful courtyard here absolutely helped deliver that. The space (and staff) was so flexible that it was easy to achieve exactly what we imagined for the big day, and our point person Lorraine was extremely helpful and communicative in the months and weeks leading up to our wedding. The interior is beautiful, with enough space for us to host 150 guests at large family-style tables (the wooden tables Seventh Place has are very very nice), and still have more than enough room for dancing and a cozy and comfy lounge area. Besides being the perfect setting for our ceremony, we hosted the dessert table and some more seating and cocktail tables outside in the courtyard, which has a lot of greenery all around and plenty of shade, making it easy to forget you are in DTLA. The hedge wall outside on the street also served as a great backdrop for our family photos (we put down some turf on the street). We are both so thrilled with how our wedding turned out, and the setting was a major factor in the success of the day. Seventh Place was an exceptional (and very well-priced!) venue with a wonderful team who made the process very easy for us. They also host a great preferred vendor open house which was a big help in wrapping our heads around the wedding planning process, and seeing the space in action! We can happily and confidently recommend Seventh Place as a venue for your big events!
