The facility can be leased for community events, musical performances, parties, weddings, and more. The old Amherst Baptist Church was the home of that church's congregation until 2005. Its sanctuary was constructed in 1882, making it the second oldest religious structure still standing in the Town of Amherst. Starting in 2012, a grassroots group took the initiative to save a historic structure in the heart of Amherst, VA, and to re-purpose it as a creative community center. Located in the middle of a vibrant village, the goal was to provide a gathering place for events. The class architecture and details of this circa 1880s historic building is sure to compliment any theme. The antique checkerboard flooring adds a touch of eclectic flair. The Space Downtown was created in late 2010 by owners of chefs Tim Burgess and Vincent Derquenne. The two have been partners since 1991, creating their first restaurant Metropolitain which operated in the same location as Space. It closed in 2003 and the chef pair sold the restaurant but remained owners of the building. In early 2010, the location became vacant and the two decided to open for private parties only. In addition to the Space Downtown, the pair operate Bizou and Bang restaurants, all three close in vicinity to one another.

Whatever the event may be our venue offers both indoor and outdoor space with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge mountains and our gorgeous 18-hole championship golf course. We are located in Central Virginia, just minutes from Charlottesville and a short drive from Richmond & Staunton. Our venue spaces can host events ranging in size and up to a maximum of 175 guests. From weddings to rehearsal dinners, reunions and showers, we aim to make your experience inside, as beautiful as the views outside. Our on-site catering services feature creative menus at a variety of price points and we are always happy to customize a menu for your event. Our professional event planning staff & talented team of event partners will work with you every step of the way to create a successful event for you and your guests.

For those who believe in magic and fairytales. Tucked into the trees, the fairies invite you into their realm for your wedding day. The cottage is separated into 3 levels, two bedchambers, two full baths, library, atrium, full kitchen, woodburning stoves and upper and lower patios with an outdoor stone fireplace.
