High on a bluff towering over the James River, this exquisite Georgian Revival offers 16,000 square feet of opulence, built by Taylor and Parrish Construction from 1981-1987. This stately Georgian features an upper brick promenade surrounded by a limestone balustrade and opens to a double curved staircase to the lower terrace. The mansion's interior boasts extravagant architectural embellishment. Marble floors, ornamental cornices, plaster friezes, 18-foot columns with gilded Corinthian capitals, and custom crystal chandeliers please the eye from the onset. A Jeffersonian pool house with a hexagonal raised dome presides over a circular pool with bluestone terraces and a limestone balustrade. Nearby, you will discover a tennis court complete with a covered viewing stand. The historic home, the parlors, porches, canopies of shade trees, and various out-buildings on the property provide many options to customize your event. The vast grounds and gardens at Pharsalia inspire seasonal, fresh floral designs with professional and creative services available to capture your vision. Poolside, on the lawn, overlooking vineyards and orchards, or wherever your desires take you; our aim is to provide a unique space where you can craft your own special day. The Historic Pharsalia home is available for dressing and pre-ceremony traditions. You will also have access to an indoor bar area, the gorgeous cocktail courtyard and our pristine flower and herb gardens where your guests can mingle and take in the majestic mountain views. We only host one wedding a weekend so the focus is on you!

Amherst is a community arts center and event space. It is a hub for the arts, small businesses, and community groups.. The facility can be leased for community events, musical performances, parties, weddings, and more. The old Amherst Baptist Church was the home of that church's congregation until 2005. Its sanctuary was constructed in 1882, making it the second oldest religious structure still standing in the Town of Amherst. Starting in 2012, a grassroots group took the initiative to save a historic structure in the heart of Amherst, VA, and to re-purpose it as a creative community center. Located in the middle of a vibrant village, the goal was to provide a gathering place for events. The class architecture and details of this circa 1880s historic building is sure to compliment any theme. The antique checkerboard flooring adds a touch of eclectic flair. The building also features two separate dressing/staging areas as well as a full catering kitchen.

Mudhouse Specialty Coffee Roasters have been in the specialty coffee industry for over 30 years. John and Lynelle, our owners started out on a bicycle cart and grew their dream to what is now 5 locations (Charlottesville, and Crozet, VA as well as Charleston, SC) and an experimental coffee farm in Volcan Baru, Panama. Our 10th St location is our modern gem that has an 'at home' feel.
