From my first moment as a wedding photographer, I knew I wanted to kick tradition to the curb. I was tried of seeing wedding photography that excluded the communities that I hold closest. I work hard to form a real connection with each of my clients to craft an experience that captures their unique spirit.

Since 2008, I’ve found myself as a professional photographer who strives to capture life, in all of its twists + turns, candidly. In addition to taking pictures, I am: the owner of The Made Fest, a handmade + vintage festival; in love with my husband; a co-founder of Smile Politely, a Champaign-Urbana local culture magazine and The Pygmalion Festival; a master gardener; an epicurean; and a mother. I am a feminist and a LGBTIAQ ally.

As much as we are tech/gear heads with regards to equipment, we also know that the greatest piece of equipment any photographer can have is his/her brain. Hey there, I’m Virge Simone and I want to capture your love story. One of my favorite photos is one of my late grandfather holding my now 19 year old daughter when she was just a few days old. The photo was taken by me and I would guess with a basic point and shoot camera so the quality is not the best, kinda blurry, the colors are washed out but I LOVE that photo. That photo signifies to be to always be present and in the moment, because that’s the last photo I was able to take of my grandfather. As a photographer, that photo tells a story, its dated, its memorable and its timeless.
