About Milkweed Moments
Milkweed Moments
Howdy! I’m Aubriana, a photographer passionate about capturing life and love in their most genuine moments. My journey with photography began over a decade ago in high school and has since grown into a heartfelt career. Inspired by my time in Iowa and the beauty of Milkweed fields, my business name reflects my love for fleeting, magical moments—just like the Monarch butterflies that migrate each year. I believe every love story is unique and deserves to be documented with care, warmth, and authenticity. I’d be honored to capture yours!
What sets me apart is my authenticity. I'm not afraid to go my own way regardless of what the crowd is doing. My foundation in god is unshakeable and the grit of life has shaped me into a servant I'm grateful to have become. I like to think of my work as cinematic, timeless, classic, airy, and color forward. I hope you can see the difference in my editing style!

Significant Delay in Delivery & Poor Communication
Wedding day: November 8, 2025 Contracted delivery deadline: January 3-17, 2026 Actual delivery date: March 7, 2026 We hired Milkweed Moments for our November wedding, and unfortunately, the experience was characterized by a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and a failure to meet basic contractual requirements. I am sharing our experience to help other couples make an informed decision. Key Issues - Punctuality and Logistics: On the wedding morning, the lead photographer was late along with the second photographer arriving over an hour late. This caused disruptions to our pre-ceremony photography schedule. -Communication & Timeline Failures: The contract specified a delivery deadline that passed without any contact from the business. I had to initiate communication in late January 2026. Despite subsequent promises of "sneak peeks" and progress updates, we received no communication or images until the final gallery was delivered months behind schedule. -Missing Deliverables: The services advertised on Zola, including specific "sneak peek" within 24–72-hour timelines and a physical photo box with prints, were never fulfilled or delivered. - Quality and Technical Skill: Before booking, we received verbal and written confirmation that the photographer could handle specific technical edits of a lazy eye. These requests were entirely ignored in the final gallery. When we addressed technical issues - crooked bouquet in nearly all group photos, cropping issues, lens flares, and poor color correction- the vendor dismissed these as "artistic discretion" rather than correcting them. The contract's provision for 15-20 re-edits is insufficient to address the lack of execution in the final gallery. After our experience working with Milkweed Moments, we ultimately could not trust the vendor to fulfill the remaining contractual obligations or perform the necessary widespread technical correction at our cost. -Contractual discrepancies: When we requested compensation for the breach of the delivery timeline, the vendor claimed to have provided value by waiving travel fees. However, our signed contract explicitly stated that all travel fees were already included in the initial package price. The vendor also stated that they added extra value by giving us an additional hour of photography services the morning of the wedding that we planned into the schedule. We did not benefit from this unsolicited service from the photographers both being tardy the morning of the wedding and disrupting the timeline. The final verdict after 119 days of waiting, the quality of the final gallery was deemed unacceptable by third-party professionals we consulted. A wedding is a one-time event, and the lack of accountability, poor communication, and failure to honor the written contract made this an incredibly stressful experience. We cannot recommend this business to other couples.
Aubriana Sturdivant•May 1, 2026Thank you for your feedback, Olivia. I take all client experiences seriously and want to clarify a few points for anyone reading. Your gallery was delivered on March 8 for a November 11 wedding, which was beyond the 8–10 week delivery timeframe outlined in the contract. During that period, I experienced pregnancy complications followed by childbirth, which significantly impacted my workflow, recovery, and editing timeline. Your contract included 7 hours of coverage, and I also provided an additional hour at no cost. The full contracted coverage was completed as planned, no moments from the wedding day were missed, and over 350 fully edited images were delivered. There was a brief gap in communication when the gallery first became overdue, which I acknowledge. Travel fees were waived prior to booking and included in the original agreement. A refund was requested during the delivery delay, but no refund was issued as the contracted services were completed in full. The claim regarding a physical photo box with prints is incorrect and requires clarification. While this item may appear in prior or transitional listings on Zola or earlier website content, all services are governed by the signed contract at the time of booking. My contract clearly states that deliverables are based on my website offerings at the time the agreement is executed. At the time your contract was signed, the physical photo box was no longer part of my active offerings and therefore was not included in your package or agreement. Regarding concerns about inconsistencies in images, weddings are documented in real time by both myself and a second photographer using different camera bodies, lenses, and shooting perspectives. Because of this, there will naturally be subtle variations in tone, color rendering, and composition between photographers. This is a normal and expected part of multi-photographer wedding coverage and does not reflect inconsistency in quality or editing, but rather the nature of capturing a wedding from multiple viewpoints. Sneak peeks are not guaranteed unless included in the contract. I ultimately prioritized delivering a complete and consistent final gallery. While photography is subjective and expectations may vary, the contracted services were fulfilled and the final gallery was delivered in full. I wish you both the best moving forward.

Comfortable & relaxed family pictures/wedding day
Working with milkweed moments is a breeze! I was nervous because I have a 3 and 1 year old, and wasn’t sure how they would cooperate. Aubriana made everything go smoothly. She’s great with kids, great with directives on posing, and really made the day so fun! She got all the shots I dreamed of!”. Will be booking her again in the future!

Homebirth/Newborn
So easy to work with and professional! My labor went very quickly so photos were in the immediate postpartum. I love how each detail was captured so intimately to tell the story, so I can look back on those moments. She respected the environment and helped in any way to make sure I felt cared for-above and beyond being a photographer. We also did some newborn/family photos a few days later and she was very patient with my full of energy toddler, all while capturing the sweet details of our newborn. All of the photos are beautiful!! When I asked for a few edits to the gallery it was done and updated for me quickly.
