The building dates back to 1837, a three-level structure which was built by William Nelson. Peekskill lawyer, Congressman, and friend to Abraham Lincoln. A small stage, built on the 3rd floor in 1870, was identified as the “Dramatic Hall.” This emblematic building had been abandoned for about 20 years and fallen into disrepair until 2012, a complete renovation took place restoring the 1870-era theater. The Dramatic Hall serves as a space to host weddings, private parties, plays, live music performances, and more.

For over a century patrons have found comfort in this historic building nestled in the heights of the Meadowlands, presently home to Ivy Inn. Opened in the 1870’s as a stagecoach inn, travelers in horse and carriage along Polifly Road (later named Terrace Avenue) stopped here to eat and drink in the tavern below and sleep in one of six guest quarters above. After the turn of the 20th century, the inn evolved into a fine dining restaurant (a popular speakeasy during Prohibition), but eventually fell into disrepair. Recently restored, Saint Paul's Chapel is a non-denominational ceremony space situated just steps from our front door. This architectural gem is one of the University's historic venues. The Alhambra Ballroom is a historic venue first established during the early 1930's. Many jazz greats such as Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie have played in the space. Much of the history has been preserved with some modern touches. The space has hosted many infamous individuals such as Netflix's, The Irishman and Marcus Samuelsson.
