One if by Land, Two if by Sea has been recognized for its classic menu, long history, and beautiful decor. It is often cited as the most romantic restaurant in New York City. The decor features candlelit tables, brick fireplaces, a baby grand piano and a private garden. The restaurant operates inside a historic, land-marked carriage house built in 1767. Established in 1973, One if by Land, Two if by Sea soon became the go to spot in NYC for engagements, anniversaries and weddings. More people are said to have announced their engagement here than any other restaurant in Manhattan.

Birchwood Manor has a total of 10 event spaces available. Guests will immediately be greeted by a dramatic spiral staircase in the venue’s lobby. The Jefferson Ballroom is perfect for your reception. Before it became our beloved event venue, the historic Crystal Plaza was originally a residential mansion. The initial Livingston, New Jersey-based residence was built in the late 1800s by famed architect Stanford White, who was responsible for designing the Tiffany building on Fifth Avenue, the original Madison Square Garden complex among other landmark structures. While the restored building has since been reincarnated as one of the leading wedding and event spaces in the tri-state area, it still maintains the feeling of its 19th century grandeur. Our West Gallery, located in the Arts-&-Crafts style Museum Pavilion, offers a unique setting for weddings. Guests can enjoy cocktails on the covered terrace and shaded courtyard, then dine and dance in an elegant gallery with hardwood floors, a cathedral ceiling, and three walls of windows and French doors providing access to the estate’s 200 acres of gardens and grounds. The West Gallery comfortably accommodates between 50 and 150 guests for dinner and dancing, while the adjacent Garden Lawn may also be rented for a ceremony overlooking the perennial gardens. For your convenience, the rental includes tables and chairs, a caterer’s kitchen, air conditioning, ample restroom facilities, and easy parking.
