“Read for my true heartfelt experience with Angelica at Dawnpoint, but in short - hire her. This should be the easiest decision you make in your wedding planning journey. I came across Dawnpoint after she documented the wedding of someone I know. Those pictures felt so authentic and real. They took me right to the event and made me feel so much. I knew I needed to meet her. From my initial zoom meeting with Angelica, we hit it off. I said I wanted to get the best views in our pictures. She was on board right away. For our engagement pictures, she took us on a hike. Chris and I showed up in hiking gear with our formal wear in our packs. So did Angelica. This may seem so minuscule but for two people who had never been photographed and just wanted someone to make them feel comfortable and to capture something real, this made us trust her from the get go. Needless to say, those pictures were amazing. We even used them for our save the dates! Fast forward to our wedding day in Lake Placid on June 15, 2024. My goals were ambitious but Angelica was on board every step of the way. From creating the timeline to executing the plan the day of, it was the least stressful part of our day. What I loved most was that she listened to my vision and incorporated it in everything she did that day. I even forgot that I wanted a specific picture of my dress, but she definitely did not. When I was getting ready, she had my bridal party share personal stories of us and it was so sweet, I felt so connected to the people closest to me that day and it helped me stay grounded and present from the beginning. For our first look, we wanted to meet at the top of Whiteface Mountain. This was 40 minutes away from our venue and logistically a lot of things could go wrong. Yet, Angelica was a smiling face reassuring me that we could do it. Everything from asking for us to skip the elevator line, to clearing the space on Whiteface for Chris and I to get our moment. I was and remain truly speechless of how she actually made this happen. The pictures speak for themselves. After, we returned to our venue and without delay resumed with a first look with my dad (which I added last minute and was meeted with so much excitement from Angelica). One of my favorite parts was golden hour pictures. I take zero credit here. This was Angelica’s idea and I am so thankful. It was a truly beautiful and authentic experience to photograph the newly wed joy I felt. This is just one of so many ways in which Angelica showed that she was as present and invested in our day as we were. After receiving my sneak preview pictures, I was honestly met with so much emotion. I was brought right back to each moment and exactly how I was feeling. I am truly blown away because if anyone can get a picture to tell a thousand words, it is Angelica. She perfectly captured our day and was the single most best decision I made that day. Unsolicited feedback from my guests: “Your photographer smiled the entire night! “Absolutely THE BEST! It has been a month after our wedding and looking through our hundreds of wedding pictures just takes us back to that magical day. Michelle does an amazing job as your photographer the day-of but also helps guide you every step of the way during the pre-planning stages. Here's a few reasons why you HAVE to pick Michelle if you connect with her style: *She will make you feel comfortable in front of the lens. We were very unsure as to what to do during our engagement shoot and we definitely did not want our pictures to come out as very posed, stiff or fake. Michelle took care of this in an instant, we got to talk, laugh, tell dad jokes throughout the shoot and our pictures came out like US which is what we truly wanted. The same goes for the day of the wedding, with a 12 person bridal party and multiple family configurations, Michelle was able to make everyone comfortable and naturally pose for our pictures. “Cannot recommend Ben enough! We did our engagement pictures with Ben ahead of our wedding and they were 1000/10. He is a master at finding the perfect lighting and did the perfect mix of the more modern photos we love and the more traditional ones our parents/grandparents love. My husband and I are both terrible at posing but Ben kept us comfortable and laughing our entire wedding day and made our photos look so natural! “Geoff from Hidden Gem Visuals was amazing from start to finish! I decided on a photographer for my civil wedding at the very last minute; about 1-2 days prior to the big day. He was extremely responsive and easy to talk to. To top things off, his price was very competitive as well! On the actual wedding day he arrived 15 minutes early and was ready to go. Geoff was courteous, professional, and extremely kind! He efficiently directed our group of 15 people while simultaneously capturing beautiful pictures. Upon completion of group photos, my husband and I then did a private photo session. “Jason came recommended to us from a few people who responded to a Facebook post I made in one of our local groups. We are so, so glad we decided to go with him! We had a very small wedding at our house and hired Jason to come do just an hour-long shoot (for a very reasonable price) so we could have a handful of formal shots and a few of our ceremony. He arrived right on time and ready to go. He was super friendly, laid back and professional and actually made us both feel at ease (which is tough because I hate being in front of a camera!) Even though it's the height of wedding season, he had a few preview photos for us to see within three or four days and the rest of the photos were ready for us within about two weeks? Just an amazing turn-around time. And although I'm burying the lede here, the photos were outstanding. I didn't expect very much from just an hour-long shoot, but we had so many "favorites" we really had a tough time picking which ones we wanted to have printed!
