The reason I loved wedding photography is it is going to be one of THE BIGGEST days of you life and I want to make it easier, I want to make it relaxed and natural. And I want to take advantage of those joyful moments to grab candid photos of the in between moments... the small things that make you travel back to what I hope to be one of the most joyous days in your life.

We are Amy & Jackson Smith, a husband and wife team, who met through photography. We fell in love and got married 6 years ago in our own backyard right here in Charlottesville. We feel so fortunate to meet such genuine people and have the opportunity to tell their stories. Since 2014 we have shot over 150 weddings at more than 60 venues. We are based in Charlottesville, Virginia and love photographing weddings here as well as Richmond, Washington DC, and beyond.

I’m known for documenting candid moments in a bright and vibrant way. I love capturing and creating narratives from start to finish - being a wedding photographer and videographer is the ultimate storytelling experience, and it’s one of my greatest joys. Weddings feel like home to me. I’ve found that it’s hard for me to stop smiling throughout the day, and even afterward, during the editing process. There’s just something about weddings that gets my heart all aflutter.

I have the most amazing memories from childhood of being cuddled up with my Granny going through old pictures. The joy and nostalgia that came from those old film photos where everything. My favorite part was always looking up at my Granny as she got lost in each individual memory, seeing her face shape shift in moments of grief over the past and then instant joy because she knew that she could relive that moment as long as she had those photos. Every time I pick up my camera I strive to create tangible moments that will last a lifetime.
