This building has the distinction of housing the first Pennsylvania women's rights convention in 1852 among other influential historic events and performances by well-known 19th century entertainers.

When the building was initially constructed over a century ago, it was designed as a Presbyterian chapel in a completely different location. The property takes its name from the Old English translation of "where the sky meets the water." To this end, five ponds and a meandering brook are just the beginning of a true visual feast. Remnants of a 200-year-old stone barn, a springhouse, protected forests, abundant wildlife and a 55-acre arboretum paint a scene of incredible beauty and tranquility. Formal gardens and terraces surround the venerable estate house, its earliest roots traced back to the 1740s. Listed on the National Historic Register, the residence lends a time-honored backdrop for indoor/outdoor events. Welkinweir is the home of Green Valley Watershed Association, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to protect and preserve the water resources of Northern Chester County through advocacy and education. Newly restored, award winning and historic stone barn from the early 1800's. The property boasts three climate controlled spaces allowing you to have the ceremony, cocktail hour & reception in different spaces. You get to choose an indoor or outdoor ceremony location with the option to move to the indoor ceremony space the morning of your wedding. Packages are designed to be all-inclusive and stress free with catering & venue combined. Day of coordinator, bartenders, and service staff along with all china, glassware, flatware & 59 colors of linens are included in our catering rates. All Setup & Tear down of your decor is handled by staff so you are able to relax and enjoy your day.
