My husband and I loved our experience with VRV as our wedding venue. From the jump, we loved meeting with Barbara. The day we went venue shopping, we had a number of experiences in the area where we just felt like a number and they truly didn't care about us or getting our business. Barbara was genuinely interested in getting to know us as a couple and we felt cared for and valued. In an area where the wedding industry can be a machine, we felt like people - and more than that, family. The wedding itself was intimate, accommodating, scenic, and everything we would have wanted. Barbara was amazing to work with, as we figured she would be from our amazing first meeting. We really appreciate her for being flexible and accommodating as plans came together and changed leading up to the wedding. In an industry of potentially flakey vendors, VRV/Barbara were extremely helpful in being the glue to hold everything together and keep things moving forward. I also want to give a big shout out to Ben who was the lead organizer for the venue on the wedding day and he was terrific; our grandmas, who needed to be escorted around via golf cart at times, seemed to have the best time and had a constant smile on their face in Ben's company. I also must mention the pure beauty of the venue. My husband and I got married in late October and the trees could not have been more beautiful. The site of the ceremony was stunninh with the mountain backdrop and the barn had a magical feel in the Fall as it turned from day to night. Also the opportunity for the couple to go up to the top of the mountain for pictures was every bit as awesome as I thought it would be. Overall, if I could give the venue 10 stars here, I would. Could not recommend enough

Trump Winery

5.0

Charlottesville, VA
  • Up to 200 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $7,000

Trump Winery is the venue where your wedding dreams come true. Whether you’ve envisioned an extravagant event or an elopement for just the two of you, we promise to create memories that you and your loved ones will cherish forever. Our 1300 acre property is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, conveniently located 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville. Our grounds have picture-perfect rolling hills, lakes, and over 200 acres of vines. Trump Winery couples benefit from indoor and outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour and reception settings, in well-appointed, heated and air-conditioned, luxury venues. Less than a mile away from both the Barn & Pavilion and the Grand Hall is our Albemarle Estate at Trump Winery, a 26,000-square foot, 11 bedroom mansion that provides overnight lodging for guests and a honeymoon night option for couples.

My husband and I chose Trump Winery for our wedding venue because we wanted a chapel for the ceremony and a barn for the reception. Luckily, Trump Winery had both, so best of both worlds! We are very happy with our decision because some guests danced on the dance floor while others went outside on the patio to talk and enjoy the winery views. It can be difficult to talk while there's music blasting. Beth Zitzman, the Events Manager at Trump Winery, was very helpful and friendly from the venue tour to throughout the wedding planning process to the day of the wedding. Trump Winery does have strict vendor rules. One being the caterer has to be a vendor from their Preferred Vendor List, which is listed on the contract. The other vendors don't have to be from the Preferred Vendor List, but they have to be approved by Beth after the vendor fills out two vendor forms and adds Trump Winery as an additional insured company on their certificate of insurance. This process wasn't too bad as all the vendors I chose that weren't on Trump's Preferred Vendor List got approved. For a sparklers exit, Trump Winery requires galvanized buckets and sand for the used sparklers. Trump Winery also requires a day of coordinator. Cody Smith was my day of coordinator and she's the best! She's very familiar with Trump Winery and has been in the wedding industry for years. Cody is so on top of things and responds really quickly to emails and texts. She made my wedding absolutely seamless! All my guests told me they really enjoyed the wedding and the venue was wonderful. I was awestruck when I saw all my photos, beautiful and classic venue!

There are so many options to make your event exactly what you want it, and the staff is so great and easy to work with. Best of all- the fees go towards sending special needs children to camp. Kim Hayden was amazing to work with. Kim thought of (and remembered) every detail I told her. She was 100% on board with my vision and made it happen. I was able to use my own china which I had collected for my special day. We got married on the 10th Green, had the cocktail hour under the Pavilion and then our reception was in the Ballroom. The Glenmore had a champagne wall for my use, linens, lanterns, bars, and even candle holders. We added some of our own touches, but Glenmore is full service. From the prosecco wall, the the lighted hedge behind our cake, to putting our printed menus in the perfect spot. Our wedding was perfection. The views are phenomenal. The food was delicious - we served buffet style to make sue of my china and the kitchen did it all right. We had plated salads (tomato and mozzarella) then buffet steak, shrimp in grits, gnocchi with vegetables, roasted potatoes and asparagus. Everything was amazing. The Glenmore was so accommodating. They let us add a sparkling rose and rose to our wine choices - which felt so right with our theme. They had a hedge to put behind our cake table, which we added a personalized sign to, flowers and fairy lights. Glenmore let us have a photo booth in the ball room lobby, and we used their gorgeous farm tables to set out framed photos and favors. I had the absolute best time at my wedding. I highly recommend the Glenmore as a venue. It has gorgeous views, super friendly staff, they are diligent and 100% know how to throw a wedding. I have no regrets entrusted them with my special day and I have the absolute best memories. Thank you Kim and Molly!

The wedding was absolutely wonderful and exactly what my daughter wanted. All our guests were well taken care of and had a great time. Mary was our coordinate and she was fantastic to work with. She helped keep us on track with all of our vendors. The wedding was before the sunset and it was pretty bright out for our guests but it was perfect for the wedding party and for pictures. We had rented a tent in case of foul weather which thankfully didn't happen. We had a cocktail hour under the tent during pictures, dinner under the wisteria and used the pavilion for dancing. I was a tad nervous about a guest count of around 125 but it worked beautifully!

We got to host our wedding at Love Ridge Mountain Lodging and we loved the experience. We appreciate the setting because it is beautiful, accessible and appropriately private. Having the 12 cabins there, as well as the camp sites, gave our guests many options and ample parking. All the rooms and beds are super comfortable. It was a perfect place to host a large gathering. People stayed two nights and enjoyed relaxing activities while we focused on staging the wedding - they could hike, ride e-bikes, play lawn games, relax in hot-tubs, and play with our photo booth. It was great! There were many spaces to choose from to create various atmospheres for the wedding. We used the lodge, the gathering lawn, the courtyard, and we had a tent on the open field for the reception dinner. We also had multiple bonfires and bar sites. It made the event feel varied and exciting, while keeping everyone in one place. The venue owners were very helpful and accommodating, happy to work with us during the planning process to make sure everything was taken care of. We're thus very happy to recommend this place!

Barren Ridge Vineyards

5.0

Fishersville, VA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Select services
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $2,000

Barren Ridge Vineyards is a small vineyard and winery in the heart of Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley. John and Shelby Higgs opened the vineyard in 2008, on land purchased by John’s father in 1934 when the farm was known as St. James Orchard. Clearing the land, tending the vines, and transforming the packing barn into a state-of-the-art winery has been a labor of love for the Higgs family. Part of their vision is to see other families celebrate the special occasions and milestones of their lives at Barren Ridge, and they created event spaces characterized by warmth, elegance, rustic beauty, and Southern hospitality, surrounded by a backdrop of spectacular views. Convenient to Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Charlottesville, Roanoke as well as Richmond, Barren Ridge Vineyards offers an ideal venue for your celebration, with its friendly and knowledgeable staff, award-winning wines, breath-taking landscape, versatile event spaces, and gracious ambience.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Handles all cleanup logistics
  • Classic seating dinner
  • Multiple event spaces

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • On-site parking not available
  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
My husband and I had to reschedule our wedding three times due to COVID and were under a time crunch: an upcoming military deployment. We decided LESS THAN A MONTH BEFORE to move our wedding to Barren Ridge. This was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. In my humble opinion, you will not find a better venue than Barren Ridge Vineyard. Not just because of the unbelievably gorgeous property, the delicious wines and beautifully spaces, but mainly because of Angela and Rob. Let’s first talk about the gorgeous property, we got married out on the beautiful patio. All our guests were able to sit outside on comfortable patio chairs with a view of the vineyard as they watched us exchange vows. Stunning. (You can also get married out in the vineyard, but due to August heat we choose not to). Next the delicious wine. Go to a tasting. AMAZING. Half our guests bought bottles as they left, they loved the wine that much. Beautiful spaces. The tasting room was perfect for a grab and take cheese board (we had them individually wrapped for grab and go COVID style) and bar. The room upstairs is spacious, inviting and gorgeous. We were able to have a dinner, cut the cake and do the first dances with plenty of space to social distance. The room is understated in a way that allows the architecture and the vineyard to shine. I hate over the top venues, but this room matches the décor of a vineyard perfectly. Simple flower arrangements and you’re done! Rob and Angela had different sized tables and other décor options which made setting up the room an easy feat. Now on to Rob and Angela. When I met them, I will be honest, I was in tears. My future husband and I were leaving for Japan for three years in September and if I didn’t pull off an August wedding, I wouldn’t be having a wedding. When I say these two LEAPT into action, I’m not kidding. They leapt! With their unbelievable amount of help we pulled together a wedding in a month. Armed with just a few sketches of seating arrangements and a small number of vendors Angela and Rob pulled off our miracle. I got the most beautiful wedding of my dreams. I also had a lot of COVID “demands” like all the tables with disposable water bottles, silverware and all food in to go containers. They helped make that work with the caterer. They allowed us to play music over the blue tooth speaker. The BRV team is amazing. When you get married at Barren Ridge, you choose to have Barren Ridge a part of your life forever. You open Barren Ridge wine every year on your anniversary. You have your birthday parties on the patio. You bring your kids on a picnic in the vines. When our original wedding was canceled, I was devastated. Little did I know I would still have the wedding of my dreams. It was better than the dream one I imagined (even with COVID). Our wedding day was so perfect. Barren Ridge is a place I will call home and a place I will keep coming back to, year after year. We are so lucky to have gotten married here. If you choose BRV, it will be the best wedding decision you ever make (after maybe the groom lol). (p.s. If you are planning a microwedding, Angela and Rob have been doing them since August 2020. They are experts now. Our wedding spread 0 cases of COVID and that’s in no small part to the diligence of the BRV team)

Guildford Farm

5.0

Ruckersville, VA
  • Up to 200 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $6,500

Guildford Farm is located just north of Charlottesville in Greene County, tucked away in the heart of Virginia’s wine country. This ideal wedding and event venue boasts the perfect setting with fantastic panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, rolling green meadows, and a shimmering lake. An event at Guildford Farm is enhanced by exquisite scenery, natural charm, and rich history.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Offers convenient lodging options
  • Multiple event spaces
  • Dressing room available

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • On-site parking not available
  • Does not allow pets
We don't have enough incredible things to say about Guildford Farm. We paired our event with Katie's planning services which is a must-do; however, i'm separating the venue review from the specific owner's planning (she was stellar). The venue includes both the reception/wedding space, and also a home, and I am including both in this review. 1, VALUE- Incredible value for a full weekend and on-site lodging. The amount we and our bridal party saved in hotel cost more than makes up for the full-weekend fee, and what could possibly be better than hanging out with your favorite friends all weekend? If you're looking for winery-aesthetic with more freedom and lower cost than most C-ville winery venues, this is your spot. The best part is this reception/wedding space is a blank canvas and can be dressed up several ways, so you aren't cornered into a vibe (ex. don't have to go rustic, don't have to go glam, etc). 2, PHOTOS - gorgeous photo spots. They have a classic bridal suite, 2 balconies, mountain backdrops, field backdrops, a pond, and a home with so much vintage character packed into aesthetic rooms - three of which are themed by color which makes for adorable photos with 10/10 natural morning lighting. The venue includes a masculine den for groomsman photos. The arbor is built-in which also saves time and improves photos. 3, FUN - As of writing this review, the venue comes with over-sized games (ex. jenga, connect-4) which makes cocktail hour way more fun. It also comes with a bar which saves lots of for rentals. If you like fishing, there is a pond, and trails for hiking. There is also a sick basement space for groomsmen to stash away and hang out all day. If you want a "royalty" moment, there is an interior balcony from the bridal suite where you can go watch the party (or bridal party entrances) from far above. 4, PRIVATE - There is nothing around to cause any sort of noise disturbance or traffic or wedding crashers. There is shopping/target about 15 minutes away, so you can run out to get emergency items if needed. The stars at night are super bright due to minimal light pollution. 5, EASY - If you have anxiety about timelines being crunched, your reception ending too early, or forgetting your rings in your bedroom, Guildford is the best possible venue to battle those fears. The layout allows for easy movement between spaces which minimizes risk of timeline-derailment. While we didn't run into weather issues, I would say the venue can moderately flex for rain - they have backup plans, and while obviously any rain plan is not ideal, your wedding attendees wouldn't be soaked and you could still have a pretty ceremony/reception. It's also high on a hill, which means ground would be less muddy. Will return to the review to upload photos if Zola allows me to.

Absoluetly LOVED this venue! The moment I first stepped on the property, I fell in love and *knew* this was the place my husband and I were going to get married. Angela and her staff set everything up just the way I wanted it, and it went so smoothly! There are *so* many different options of locations to have the ceremony. Due Sorelle provides plenty of tables and chairs, and the staff will set them up for you - one less thing for you to have to worry about on your big day! I also loved that we had access to the barn the night before the wedding so I could set up the reception and not have to worry about finding someone to do that the morning of. Angela was a bit confusing to communicate with at times? Just some random things here and there - asking for details, scheduling things, and some either miscommunication or lack thereof. She was super sweet! I had just wished the communication process were a little smoother. Overall I loved Due Sorelle and would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

Market at Grelen is such a perfect choice for your wedding venue. We would choose it over and over again. We love the Market so much and the best thing is that it's open to the public as an actual nursery and place where you can hike, get drinks, have lunch, and get your Christmas tree even long after your wedding. Most places you only return to for other weddings. It's so special that you can revisit. I definitely recommend booking Spotswood Lodge and Boxwood Villa for your weekend stay as well so you're all in one small area. The team at Grelen are amazing. They always checked in on us and kept the process flowing. Morgan was so good to us throughout the entire process and made me feel so comfortable and at ease that everything would flow. She is so awesome! The venue itself is STUNNING. We loved using the whole property for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception so our guests got to see the whole property. Gorgeous views and so many fun options to add on like ice cream, fire pits, cookies, AND they let you pick out plants to use which really adds to the tent. I ABSOLUTELY recommend Grelen. I'm obsessed.

The Carolyn Baldwin Lake Pavilion is named after our dear loved one, Carolyn Varner Baldwin, who unexpectedly passed away in 2008 due to an allergic reaction. She was the matriarch of our family and a beautiful, one-in-a-billion type of person with a generous and loving spirit. She was a talented gardener, a devoted fisherwoman who could out-fish the best of 'em (we're talking "sun-up-til-sundown" kind of fishing), was creative and artsy, and never knew a stranger. We felt it only fitting to name this lovely place in her memory. We are a family-operated business. Joanna is the General Manager and works with each client to accommodate varying event needs. She handles a wide range of aspects of the business, from answering questions about what will make your event run smoothly to giving you layout suggestions. spent a whole weekend here for my wedding. If you're looking for a stress free and organized wedding Chanel is your girl. She had a complete timeline for all things and makes sure the bride doesn't have to do a thing. Her venue is very beautiful, vintage, and just perfect! The rooms are beautiful, however the only downfall we had were the beds were not comfortable at all which made it difficult to fall asleep. We had her husband Jim officiate our wedding as well, he is just as helpful and sweet as Chanel is.

We had our wedding at Boxwood Villa on May 4, 2024, and it was completely perfect. Our family from out of town came a few days early to get settled and prepare, and there was plenty of space for us to spread out and also to hang out together. The beds were insanely comfortable and the accommodations were amazing. While we planned to have the ceremony on the front lawn, the rain had other plans and the team jumped into action and was ready to host our 30 guests on the spacious, gorgeous covered porch. The cocktail hour was held on the first level, and the beautiful house made for some incredible photo opportunities. The lawn was the most amazing place for the tent where our reception was held, and it was just as magical as everywhere else. Everyone commented on how perfect the venue was, including my family. I can't wait to visit again in the future to re-live these incredible memories. Thank you, Boxwood Villa!!!
