About this venue

Whether it is your dream wedding day, a stunning rehearsal dinner, or a bridesmaid luncheon, let us bring your vision to life with our stunning Montalto venue. The scenic private drive leads you to Repose at Montalto, a beautiful historic estate sitting 400 feet above, and overlooking, Monticello. Steeped in history and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, this is the quintessential Charlottesville venue for “I do.” Unsurpassed in elegance and style, our venue will fulfill your every vision for the perfect wedding celebration. As a Site of Conscience, we are committed to engaging our guests with a deeper understanding of Monticello’s history as a plantation. Out of respect for the enslaved men, women, and children lived and labored here, we do not allow private, non-educational events on the West Lawn, Mulberry Row, or elsewhere on the mountaintop.

  • Fairytale Wedding at Magical Montalto

My husband and I got married at Montalto in May 2022, and it was the wedding of our dreams. We also happened to meet at Montalto at a UVA reunion in 2017, so it was extra special to us and we were so excited to return. Nothing can match the beautiful views from the mountaintop of Charlottesville, Monticello, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Monticello team went above and beyond for us, as intense storms were forecasted the week of our wedding. And it was indeed a rainy weekend, but we were still able to celebrate at the mountaintop and incredible views, including rainbows. The indoor facilities with the balcony were picture perfect for our wedding day prep and was still out of the way of the set up going on downstairs. The staff was very prompt at communication and working with all our vendors to make our dream day come true. As an added bonus, getting to take our engagement photos on the mountain top was pretty unique, too (see attached photos courtesy of Xiaoqi Li)
