I was born and raised in North Carolina. I now live in Fredericksburg Virginia. It was a big change considering I've lived in North Carolina all my life, but I still travel back and forth to see my family. I am happy I have many awesome pictures to look back at when I miss them. Family and sharing memories with the people I care about is so important to me. That's one of the reasons why photography is so important to me.

While I would have loved to begin my photography education and vocation in the glamorous studios of a household-name magazine like Vogue, my story started out discordantly. Like many of my peers and students, my artistic career started as a fantasy while I was plotting my great escape from the corporate world. Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
