Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Having a background in Fine Art has informed the way I photograph everything. I understand and value the importance of sensing the emotions being held around me and what it means to capture those moments. Having knowledge on the history of photography has allowed me to cultivate a deep understanding for what makes an image truly ageless. My photography style walks the line between fine art and documentary. My goal is to freeze not only moments, but feelings in time - to create images that people can look back on decades later and FEEL the love, joy, and every emotion in between.

    We could not recommend Nina more. We connected with her through a colleague at work (Nina did the photography for her daughter's wedding). Nina was diligent in helping us clarify and articulate what we wanted from our photography (we had a few Zoom calls and an engagement photo shoot a few months before, which was SUPER helpful) and the result was everything we could have hoped for. To quote one of my relatives, "she was everywhere!" Thank you Nina, and to others looking for a great photographer, this is it!

    Nina from Ivy & Quartz Photography was a wonderful choice for our wedding. From our first interaction, her communication style was gentle but no-nonsense, putting us at ease every step of the way. On the day of, the team was nearly invisible, expertly capturing both posed and candid moments without disrupting the flow of the event. The photos beautifully showcase the joy of our events and they accommodated the four-hour lull between the ceremony and reception without issue.     After friends shared a photo of my then fiance and me at their own wedding, we hired the photographer who took it. This was Nina! That one photo inspired us to review the gallery of their entire wedding and then her portfolio and we were blown away. 7 months later our own wedding day arrived. My husband and I are the type of people who are wildly present and constantly forget to take photographs of our life together. We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. Nina was able to provide just that and was incredible (as was the second photographer she worked with for our big day). Nina seamlessly handled all the chaotic moments and pre-ceremony stress of the very emotional bride (me) in stride! With very little direction she navigated all aspects of a wedding day with absolute poise and grace. I cannot thank her enough for taking on such leadership and just GETTING IT DONE! Nina captured all the big and tiny pieces that go into a wedding and I felt her photo choices, angles, and poses perfectly captured the essence of me and my husband's personalities.
