The Silk Mill & The Woolen Mill

The Woolen Mill commenced production of woolen goods in 1860, which became one of Fredericksburg’s leading industries. Today it is preserved as close to the original structure as possible and provides a one-of-a-kind venue that also celebrates the historic occasion of a wedding day or your special event. The space can accommodate up to 200 guests with Rappahannock River views from our private rooftop terrace. The chapel and reception space have been renovated to embrace the industrial character of the mill with original brick walls, industrial windows, and an original pulley elevator.

The Silk Mill was built in 1889 and was a factory that employed over 200 women. The women spun silk that was imported from Italy to go around spools for sewing. Originally the C.W. Tholtz Throwing Company, today The Silk Mill has been renovated to host weddings and events and has been hosting events for over a decade. The Silk Mill can accommodate up to 300 guests. The Industrial design of the Mill and the Victorian accents create a unique and transformative ambiance for all events.
