The team was a well oiled machine, They handled every transition and any small hiccup with precision and grace. The personal attention given to the couple throughout the reception was greatly appreciated. The attention to detail day of was a wonderful contrast to their more hands-off approach to the pre-planning. The front desk staff at the hotel provided exceptional service from handling questions about the room block to tracking down and setting up a pack and play for the littlest guest. Every staff member that we encountered was professional, warm, and welcoming.

My company, Expressway Music, has been dj'ing parties and events in NYC since 1992. This is what i've noticed over the many, many weddings and events we have dj'd at Manhattan Penthouse. The staff has been working there for many years. this is SO RARE in this business and so essential in having an extra special party. Their staff is friendly, helpful, and hardworking. the work as they are one unit and everything is dene seamlessly. Whether you book your event with Alisa, Glen or Monika you will be getting someone who will treat you and your guests like royalty..i've heard from clients that the service is so good there they felt like they were the venue's sole client. The views are also second to none. You will be on the Penthouse of a 5th ave building with views facing all sections of the city. The food is consistently on point and delicious and i have heard from clients that pricing is more than fair. My husband and I just got married at Terrace on the Park on 2/17/24 in the Penthouse. The venue is absolutely stunning. We had looked at plenty of venues before selecting this one. From the start, Mildred was so helpful. Answering any questions we had and making sure all of our expectations were met and exceeded. The finalist manager, Nicole, was also amazing. Both her & Mildred were there on our wedding day to make sure everything went as planned. The chapel was set up beautifully for our ceremony, and the cocktail hour in the garden suite was amazing (from what we heard). The venue itself provides breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding landmarks, such as the world’s fair globe, citifield, Arthur Ashe stadium, and others. I wish I could go back to the beginning and plan it again with the same people!

Temperance

5.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 75 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $1,500

A vibrant and unpretentious West Village restaurant and wine bar with the best by-the-glass wine list in the world. Our food menu is Mediterranean-inspired and includes an eclectic assortment of small, but shareable bites. Our space is ideal for parties and receptions, but due to its floor plan, does not lend itself to wedding ceremonies or presentations where sight lines are critical.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides a dedicated team on-site
  • Creates a sense of togetherness
  • Multiple event spaces

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • No on-site bridal suite
  • Dance floor not included
As I planned our surprise engagement, I wanted to choose a location to go after that moment to celebrate with a larger group of friends and family that resonated with both of us, so our local wine spot, Temperance, was perfect. Having no idea whether they would even consider a private party I reached out through an email on the website and quickly realized how kind and accommodating the staff was. We were able to rent out the back patio and fully customize the space with our own set up and outside decorations. As a part of the space rental we were allowed an allotment of more than enough food and, more importantly, a customized collection of reds, whites, oranges and rosès. I’d recommend letting the staff pick the specific wines, they’re the experts after all (they did pick one special wine just for us and immediate family based on my specific request, but I like to pretend that was just for me). It was the perfect place to celebrate with around 25 of our closest friends and family. The one downside was they have a hard cutoff of 10pm due to some vocal neighbors but the staff was very upfront throughout the booking process that that was going to be the case, so there were no surprises. Additionally, because of how much we love the aesthetic inside near the bar and the room fronting Carmine Street, we also asked if we could start our engagement photo shoot at Temperance before they opened one night. Once again, we were met with a staff that went out of their way to help us anyway they could and even gave us a glass of wine each to take the edge off of some poses that feel extremely ridiculous in the moment, but turned out to be great pictures. We were as happy with those pictures as we were with both of those experiences at Temperance.

We are so grateful to Church of the Ascension for allowing us to have our wedding ceremony and our reception. When we first saw the place, we fell in love. The space is absolutely beautiful with many amenities. Our goal was to have an intimate wedding with a luncheon to follow and everything turned out perfect. Our family was star struck over the beauty of the church itself and we couldn’t have picked a better place. There is so much potential in this space in terms of decoration (in which minimal is required). The church itself does have things available if you need them such as chairs, tables and some decorative glasses. We used the chairs available at the venue to maintain the aesthetic and they even provided some glasses when a few of ours broke! Overall this experience was a 10/10 and I would choose church of ascension again and again if I had a choice. The place is beautiful, affordable, everyone is extremely hospitable and they want the best for you. Lauren was helpful from the very beginning. She answered all our questions and checked in throughout the planning process to see if we needed any help. She was always available and had no problem communicating/working with our caterer, florist, and photographer. She has such a sweet soul and truly wants you to have the best. She was very accommodating for our rehearsal and was even helpful during the wedding itself! God bless you Lauren! Thank you for helping us have the wedding of our dreams.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect thanks to Hildegard and the SkyView staff! We planned our wedding less than a year out, and Hildegard was very accommodating and very responsive throughout the planning process - she was truly a pleasure to work with. On wedding day, we also had Jenn and Iwan helping out to make sure the day ran smoothly. We did our ceremony off-site so we cannot speak on that, but our cocktail hour and reception were absolutely awesome! We still have guests raving about how good the food was and how beautiful the venue and grounds are. You definitely get the best value for your money in terms of northern NJ wedding venues, and we couldn't recommend SkyView enough!

Where to begin...from the first time we met with Angie (the events director) all the way to our wedding day, she and the rest of the staff blew right past any expectations we could ever have and literally delivered our dream wedding. Our guests raved about how much fun they had and it cannot be overstated how much of that is due to the incredible atmosphere of the venue and the amazing people working there. They just made everything so easy. It goes without saying that Threes has top-notch beers, wine and cocktails that kept us and our guests very happy, but we have to give a special shoutout to THE FOOD. We opted for the Gotham Smash Burger (with an option for an Impossible patty for vegetarian/vegan guests) as our entree and I had multiple people tell me it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding, the best kale caesar salad they'd ever had period, and one of the vegetarian guests told me it was the best veggie burger she'd ever had in her life. Threes at Franklin Kent could not have been a more perfect place for our wedding. If you are looking for a laid-back yet elevated and romantic Brooklyn brewery vibe for your special day, look no further. They will take superb care of you!

Houston Hall is a rustic wedding venue in New York, New York. Built in 1907, this former FBI parking garage has since been reconstructed as a vintage beer hall and brewery. Exposed brick, wooden beams, hand-painted murals and high ceilings with skylights offer the perfect environment for your wedding day and reception. This venue space features a unique, large and open-spaced floor plan. Houston Hall has the ability to accommodate up to 225 guests comfortably when seated. In addition, we have a spacious, private dressing room that overlooks the hall. This is where you can get ready before your walk down the aisle. Guests will be able to take in the warm, vintage environment of Houston Hall as they walk around the naturally lit, open space.

  • Provides event staff

Venue considerations

  • Best for events with big guest lists
  • No built-in audiovisual options
  • No on-site guest accommodations
We held our wedding at Houston Hall in October 2023. From first booking, the Houston hall event team Christon & Michelle were involved every step of the way, and had an organized process of keeping us informed. The ones that stick out were menu flexibility and options and the use of an online platform that kept all of our documentation, communication, and billing in one place. When it came to our big day, we and our guests were so pleased with Houston Hall. The food was excellent. Our guests really enjoyed the family style servings, and raved about how delicious the food was. Food came out timely, and Houston was very organized in ensuring all our guest with dietary restrictions were accommodated. Above all, the service was amazing. Both us and our guests were taken care of by friendly and efficient waitstaff and bartenders. This is something our guests still talk about. Also important to note was that our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were all in the same location. The staff turned the location seamlessly during our cocktail hour without our guests being interrupted or even noticing. The venue itself was everything we hoped it would be. To enhance our guests experience, we opted to rent chairs (in place of benches) and edison lights. This process was seamless, as Houston had a recommended vendor who they work with frequently to deliver and install. Houston was also very accommodating to help us deliver and store items before the wedding (for example, our table decor, rented florals and cake). By choosing Houston Hall, we had an amazing, memorable, and low stress wedding day. We would highly recommend without hesitation for your wedding, or any other big event.

The Standard, East Village

4.0

New York, NY
  • Up to 50 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor

Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan from the hotel's crowned jewel, The Penthouse. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level that in the warmer months is filled with lush topiaries and floral arrangements, and in the cold season transforms into a magical winter wonderland. On the second floor, The Overlook is a cozy room perfect for a rehearsal dinner or cocktails, connected to The Perch which overlooks The Garden. Downstairs, there's Narcissa restaurant, which boasts its own private terrace, the street-side Café Standard, and NO BAR, a highly inclusive new wave gay bar with custom artwork and a disco ball.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Exudes style
  • Has an intimate feel for a small guest list
  • Private area for the wedding party

Venue considerations

  • Lighting and sound are not included
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Better for more intimiate events
Having never been privy to what goes into a wedding reception, I was in the dark about a lot. So, I had difficulty understanding what to choose and how much our choices would cost. If it wasn’t for the close proximity to the church, I may have chosen a different venue for our reception. The food and beverage was the biggest expense and the biggest source of confusion. The real disappointment of the F&B was the limited amount of food. The shrimp appetizer was good. However, there was so little, if you didn’t grab some, it was gone. Of the three entrees to choose from, the only one that was any good was the fish and the portion was less than one would reasonably expect for an entree. The chicken was dry and hard, a huge disappointment. The lemon tart dessert was good. The space itself is very nice. Fortunately, it was just the right size for our reception.

Before it became our beloved event venue, the historic Crystal Plaza was originally a residential mansion. While the restored building has since been reincarnated as one of the leading wedding and event spaces in the tri-state area, it still maintains the feeling of its 19th century grandeur. Our impeccable, white-glove service begins the moment you arrive. Crystal Plaza hosts only one event at a time, ensuring that our dedicated team focuses singularly on you and your every need. Where to even begin! First off, my wife and I had a fairly large wedding for NYC, roughly 200 people, so when we started to look at venues, we were so nervous about what we would find. Rule of Thids was actually the first venue we saw, and we were blown away by the space. If you’re renting out the full venue, you get access to the entire restaurant, plus the event space, as well as the outdoor area. It makes the flow of the wedding so nice, so everyone wasn’t crammed into one space as they were trying to flip it for the ceremony, dinner, and dancing. We were also able to rent out the photo studio attached to the sake shop to get ready in, so we were on-site all day, which was AMAZING. We could easily discuss things with our day-of coordinator, florist, etc., and the space was so large and had impeccable light (our makeup artist and hair stylist were super happy with it!). We chose to use the venue coordinator, Julie, as our day of coordinator, and we cannot say enough good things about her. She was incredibly responsive, super organized, and comes from the wedding industry, so she brought up things that we didn’t even think to consider for the day of that were so helpful. Beyond that, she was so pleasant to work with and just had an amazing, chill vibe that everyone wants from their coordinator on the wedding day. It was also amazing that she works at the venue, so she knew all the ins and outs of the space and could easily coordinate with our other vendors. She helped ensure the bridal party was in the right places at the right time, moved people from room to room when needed, and helped us stay on track with the flow of the wedding, which was perfect and so seamless. She and the ROT team set up the entire space exactly as we envisioned, and everything looked beautiful! The venue is honestly perfect for a wedding. We were able to use private dining spaces in the venue for a photobooth and coat closet, plenty of bathrooms (not something you think about until you go to a wedding with too few!), an amazing outdoor space for guests to cool down/get away from the noise, a huge dance floor area, spacious dining room, and so many bars for our guests to go to. The staff were all amazing, endlessly refilling drinks and food, and everyone was incredibly nice. Even after all of the amazing things above, the best part about Rule of Thirds is the food. From the cocktail hour to the dessert, this food is amazing and well beyond typical wedding standards. We had so many guests tell us how good everything was, and we were told this was the first wedding at the venue where every single canape and raw bar item was eaten, so our guests were very happy! (if you can, splurge on the raw bar because it was so good!!) After the ceremony, they set up a spot for us to sample all the canapes and raw bar items, which we were super thankful for since we would never have eaten anything otherwise. We also had a very specific request for a mazeman noodle dish we had eaten when we toured the space a year prior, and the chef and team made it happen for us, which was AMAZING and so incredibly delicious. If you’re looking for a wedding venue and considering Rule of Thirds, DO IT! We wish we could relive the day all over again because it was so amazing, and we will forever be hoping someone else we know gets married here so we can experience something similar again.
