Stissing House

The Upstairs Bar is a hideaway above our main tavern for you and 10-18 friends. We invite you to mingle when you arrive with chips, oysters and martinis before taking a seat at the table to feast. Make sure to inquire about our going home treats for your journey home.

Upstairs is the oldest Dutch Colonial ballroom in America, with a vaulted ceiling and a wraparound terrace. It’s rumored that The Marquis de Lafayette slept here when the Stissing House was an inn. It’s rare to be able to celebrate with all of your friends at one long table. In this room, it’s possible.

The Barn’s generous proportions make it ideal for large feasts. You’ll be looking up at the hand-hewn ceiling beams and down at the three-foot wide old-growth floorboards. There’s a dance floor at the far end.

Stissing House has played host to whiskey-soaked feasts for centuries. With a series of interconnected rooms and half a dozen fireplaces, the restaurant can accommodate meals for groups as small as six people and large-scale events for as many as 200. The second floor features the oldest Dutch Colonial ballroom in the country, with a vaulted ceiling, a dedicated bar and a wraparound terrace. The space is ideal for rehearsal dinners, offsite retreats, or anniversary celebrations.
