Flower Moxie – Do-It-Yourself Wedding Flowers

4.8

  • Starts at $350
  • Serves Simi Valley, CA

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

Awarded Best of Zola
I ordered the "peaches and cream" small package. We decided to skip on ceremony florals, and only have handhelds and bud vases at the reception. We did buy a few more flowers from the grocery to add more peach once the flowers arrived. We made and medium sized bridal bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 3 corsages, and 7 bouts. (With lots of flowers left over). My bridesmaids and I did the arranging the morning before the wedding; it was fun, and a great start to the weekend. None of us had experience, but it all turned out great! If you or your bridal party are mildly crafty, I'd highly recommend it!

Jen is incredible and worth every penny! My husband and I weren't very sure about how we wanted our wedding florals to look. We also didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on flowers that would only last a day. We stumbled upon wood flowers and discovered Wood and Word Blooms! Working with Jen was wonderful and seamless. She helps you every step of the way to figure out what you would like. The DIY class was so much fun, and we were able to build all of our centerpieces, boutonnières, and bouquets. Jen also built my cascade bouquet and beautiful garland for us! Everything came out so beautifully and was perfect for our day. Thank you Jen!

We were incredibly thrilled with the floral arrangements from Something's Blooming for our wedding! From start to finish, Michelle and her team truly exceeded our expectations. Two years ago, we had the good fortune of meeting her when she did my sister's wedding. It was absolutely stunning so we knew we were in good hands. I appreciated that Michelle took the time to understand our vision and listened to all of our ideas and preferences, while also offering creative suggestions that really enhanced our overall aesthetic. We also got to be part of the floral picking process which was so fun! The entire team was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to every detail. On the big day, the flowers were nothing short of breathtaking! The bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces, and ceremony arrangements were even more beautiful than we could have imagined. The colors were vibrant, the blooms fresh, and the overall look was absolutely stunning. Our vision was "if wine and fall could have a baby, that would be our wedding!” and she delivered. Through the color pallet, the variety of flowers & foliage, fantasy pumpkins, and lanterns, our concept was brought to life. Our guests couldn’t stop commenting on how gorgeous everything was! Their attention to detail was impeccable — from the intricately crafted pocket square for the groom and ring bearer to the lush arrangements at the altar. Everything was perfect. We were deeply appreciative of how seamless the delivery, ceremony setup, and transition to reception went. It felt like magic seeing it all come to life. Both my husband and I work in the entertainment industry ourselves and we know how much work goes into weddings. Knowing we had professionals handling this part of the process allowed us to sit back and enjoy the day. If you're looking for a florist who truly understands your vision and delivers stunning, high-quality flowers, we highly recommend Somethings Blooming. They made our wedding day feel even more magical! Thank you again for making our wedding day so special!

Emily was hands down the best. She planned my engagement to the last detail all without even talking to me. She asked my fiancé all the important questions that brought my vision to life. Not only were each flower handpicked to ensure not one flaw, she guided my fiancé throughout the whole process. She went over and beyond with helping us clean up and proving extra help that wasn’t in the contract. I cannot recommend Artmingo more. If you want your vision to come true and ensure every detail is executed without a worry, Emily is the way to go.

For someone who loves flowers but knows nothing about flowers; Iler Meadows made it easy to bring something to life with minimal information. At the first meeting, I remember meeting Suzanne and Erin and one of the questions was do you know which flowers you want. We didn’t know any flowers’ name but they reassured us that it was okay and we worked based off me and my fiancé (now husband) wedding color scheme and vision board. At first we thought we wanted an all white floral arrangements but it quickly changed as they showed us the different flower types. We left that initial meeting with a sense of relief. Throughout the wedding process, they were easy to get ahold of and were very responsive. Which as a bride, doing day of coordination was something we appreciated. Even if we had questions weeks leading up to the big day; they reassured us and always responded in a professional, kind manner. The day of the wedding we were in aw of how beautiful and detailed they were in every floral arrangement. Whether it was our arch florals, bridal bouquet, bridesmaids florals, boutonnières, or corsages. Everything came out stunning. We appreciated how they even made things easy to repurpose so that no florals got left behind from the ceremony to reception. No words can explain how grateful we are to them and their family for making our vision come to life! We would definitely support Iler Meadows again.

Hi there, I'm Kaylyn. After almost 12 years working as a florist, I can honestly say, I'm still not over them. Alyssa did an incredible job with our wedding florals. She was prompt and responsive in communication and transparent with pricing and contract details. I love fruits and vegetables and textured, sculptural floral arrangements and she truly brought my vision to life and brought so much joy to us and our guests. We even ate some of the fruits and veggies after the wedding! Her arrangements were stunning, tasteful and creative and she took the time to listen to what I was wanting rather than impose a standard wedding style or trend on us. I had asked for a memorial bouquet for a family member and shared that they loved sweet potatoes and she even grew some sweet potato vines in her backyard to include in the arrangment, which was such a special and meaningful touch. I also really appreciated her commitment to sustainability and using local flowers. I would highly recommend Alyssa to any engaged couple!

Hijinx Flowers

5.0

  • Starts at $1,500
  • Serves Simi Valley, CA

From a background in the film and television industry to currently working in the wedding industry, I've brought my love of visual style and flowers together. My favorite aspect of working on weddings is working with the couple to figure out the style that speaks to them. From sleek and modern, to romantic and lush I can make it happen.

I think flowers are the most important part of the aesthetic for any event- they quite literally bring LIFE to the experience, along with color and softness and movement. I found the perfect person for the job in Jackie and I would fully recommend her to anyone who wants their florals to be artistic and professional! Jackie nailed down the specifics of my color palette when I said I wanted “warm citrus tones.” She totally understood the loose vibe that I was looking for, and confirmed that when she sent me mood boards and specifications ahead of time. She worked within my budget, waking up early to get flowers from the LA Flower Market. She even found a way to incorporate my friends by hosting a flower garland making party! She was the vendor I didn’t have to worry about- I completely trusted she would be where she needed to be, she would understand my vision, and she would make sure things ran seamlessly. She is cool as a cucumber under pressure and her arrangements have character. I am going to use Jackie for all of my events going forward!

Hi there! I'm Isabel- owner + lead designer of at Your Wedding Florist ✦. My love for flowers blossomed at the tender age of 5 while exploring my Grandmother's beautiful garden. I cherished spending countless hours with her, admiring the unique beauty of each bloom. I always dreamt of owning a flower shop. Working with flowers is really a dream come true! It’s my passion! It’s a heartfelt way to feel closer to my beloved Grandmother. I'm so grateful to be able to share my love for flowers with you and design exquisite floral pieces for your dream wedding!

We hired Isabel for our wedding this past weekend. Our venue was a community plaza and honestly, I was a little worried of how elegant the place would look. But Isabel really helped transform our venue into something so elegant and just pure beauty! I also particularly love that she created a heart-shaped bridal bouquet for me. It made my bouquet stand out and look so unique. She also added touches that I didn’t even request such as some flowers on our cake. Just such a great above-and-beyond service!

It seemed that no matter how clearly I outlined what I DIDN’T want, that was all other florists came back to me with in their proposals. No one seemed to get what I was saying or describing. Imagine my relief when I not only instantly connected with Hillary, but she GOT what I was saying. Hillary immediately picked up what I was looking for, and her initial proposal was perfect with the exception of aisle florals which was because I hadn’t decided on anything. I feel like Hillary really got to know me, that she put in the time and effort to really capture what I was looking for, and recommended options. About five months out I told Hillary we did need floral aisles, but I couldn’t find anything I liked. She hit the ground running with options and ideas, finding the perfect solution. When the day of my wedding came, I couldn’t WAIT to see everything come together. I burst into tears when I saw my bouquet, my bridesmaid’s bouquets, and the boutonnieres for the guys. Everything was so perfect, so much better than I could have imagined, asked for, or provided examples for. Hillary went above and beyond in terms of delivering true perfection. When I walked down the aisle I was overwhelmed again with love and gratitude for what she did with the aisle florals and the structure at the end of the aisle. I was blown away. I truly thought it couldn’t be topped – boy was I wrong. When I saw what she did for our cocktail hour area, and then our reception, but especially our sweetheart table, all I could do was cry. I felt so loved, so supported, so important, and so valued. All because of how hard Hillary worked for my day. I had many guests comment on the beautiful florals, the delicate lavender at each place setting, how stunning everything was. Many people also told me how fresh and perfect each item in each arrangement looked – there wasn’t a single old, damaged, or disfigured flower or piece of greenery. Each element was literally perfect. Hillary is punctual, great with communication, quick, and responsive. Her kindness and dedication really makes you feel as if you have a friend, not just a vendor. I cannot recommend Hillary enough, especially if you are someone who is looking for florals that are something different from the typical California look. Hillary delivers and then some. I hope that I have another opportunity to have her skills, talent, and dedication grace another event I’m involved with.

I couldn’t rave more about how incredible it was to work with Melissa and the gorgeous florals she did for our wedding. She is so kind and very easy to talk to. She asked lots of questions to fully understand my vision, even when I didn’t quite have the words for it. She was extremely understanding when my plans changed entirely and was able to pivot seamlessly. And the flowers!! My god!!! She personally brought my bouquet to my bridal suite the morning of the wedding and it literally brought me to tears. It was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Then, when I saw the venue, I was truly floored with what she created. She is a master of florals, a true artist. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough!!!!!

Hi Friends, I'm a planner-turned florist based in sunny Southern California. I've been in the event industry for more than 15 years and have traveled all over the world. My signature style is a blend of whimsy and modern elegance, where lush blooms and vibrant colors dance together in perfect harmony.

I mean it when I say that Debra Meadows is the best wedding planner & wedding designer in the business. She is worth every penny & she truly deserves the world. Debra made our wedding truly the best event of my lifetime. My husband loved her, my entire family loved her & all of the other vendors were so appreciative of her constant hard work and dedication. I know it sounds like I’m an overly doting fan girl… but I AM. lol. For the rest of my life I am so truly grateful for everything Debra did for my husband & I during the process. My wedding was an intensely complicated endeavor & Debra handled it with beauty, grace, talent & ease. She is a mythical & incredible human who made all of my dreams come true. It wasn’t easy. She had to help me build the venue from absolute scratch. I am an artist & a creator & Debra made me feel seen & heard throughout the entire process. I look at the drone footage now & im telling you, this woman created a masterpiece. She handled family matters and different vendor personalities with consistent professionalism and finesse. She sat through COUNTLESS zoom calls with me figuring out transportation & so many tiny minute details. I would spend the money to hire her again one hundred times over & will do so for any future events I plan. This review section isn’t nearly long enough to explain how much what Debra Meadows did for me & us… but we love you forever Debra! This review could be an entire novel & that’s why it’s taken me too long to write! But if anyone ever is questioning hiring Meadows Events, hit me up & I will explain to you every reason why! P.S. You can call her Disco ball Debra because she came up with the idea of the gorgeous disco balls at our wedding! She has immaculate taste.
