Nostalgia drove me into photography at an early age - and lead me into my studies of photojournalism. We know when we're at a critical juncture in our lives. You may even outwardly acknowledge it. For me, being able to authentically capture, to preserve those moments in a photograph is such a privilege. I know how much it means to me to be able to look back and say 'this is how things actually happened.' There is beauty in those truths. The kind of folks I work with share that appreciation.

Awarded Best of Zola
I wasn't quite sure what to look for in a wedding photographer initially and stumbled upon Corey's page/website. After looking through his photos and reading about his documentary-style photojournalism approach I was intrigued and reached out to him. I'm so glad I did because he was great to work with! He was straightforward with his pricing & communications, and was quick to respond to questions. I was nervous about having a wedding photographer in general, as my husband and I are not huge fans of taking pictures. Corey fit right in with our friends and family the day of the wedding and was able to discretely get great candids of our guests. He put us at ease and it was fun and painless to take photos with family, and photos of just the two of us. I appreciated that we were able to go about our day as we wanted to, and he captured unposed pictures of the day. Overall, I would highly recommend working with Corey and I'm so glad we chose him as our photographer.

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Justina as our wedding photographer, and she exceeded all of our expectations! Just looking at her work, we knew she was the one. From our first meeting, it was clear that Justina possesses incredible talent and a true passion for her craft. Her ability to capture the essence of every moment is unmatched. Throughout the planning process, Justina was exceptional in her communication. She took the time to understand our vision, preferences, and any specific shots we wanted. Her responsiveness and professionalism made us feel confident and relaxed, knowing we were in great hands. On our wedding day, Justina went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Her warm and friendly demeanor made it easy for us and our guests to feel comfortable in front of the camera. When we received the final photos, we were blown away by the quality and artistry. Jenna Cavanaugh Photography

Portland, ME

  • Starts at $5,000
  • Serves Old Town, ME

Natural, documentary, photojournalistic. Real, raw, candid. We’re not going for any stiff prom poses here. I like to capture the day as it is and to document it as it unfolds. I never want to force anything, but I step in and direct where needed. Being in front of the camera isn’t my favorite thing either. I will be here to guide you and prompt you the whole way, I promise.

Jenna was an absolute dream to work with. From the moment I saw her portfolio I knew I wanted her to document our wedding. I could tell that Jenna knew exactly what to capture in a wedding - the feelings and beauty of the couple’s family, friends and their love. Then after meeting her she instantly felt like a friend - which I didn’t realize how important that would be later on. During the wedding day I think we spent the most time with Jenna, and it was so comforting to have a friend with us the whole time! I trusted her to capture the important moments, and even to give me advice and touch ups, and boy did she deliver! I feel like she read my mind about every little detail. Honestly I can’t say enough good things about Jenna as a person/vendor/photographer. I can’t stop looking at our photos even 6 months later! She just captured our joy and love and turned them into beautiful works of art. We get compliments on our photos by everyone we show them to! Jenna was the best decision we made for the wedding hands down!

Our team prides ourselves on being professional third-wheels on your wedding day. We are perfect for those who thrive on love and connection, and are looking for bold and purposeful imagery. We have 2 wedding associates, 2 family photographers, and a husband and wife videography team

Maddy was absolutely INCREDIBLE. From the moment we connected with her, we knew she was it. I had searched high and low for months, after seeing so many washed out, boring photos - Maddy's photography was an absolute breath of fresh air. Her work was full of life, love, energy, emotion and beautiful colors; which I knew was exactly what I wanted! Once Maddy spoke with us on the phone, she felt familiar and comfortable, like an old friend, to which she TRULY did become someone we can consider a friend. Maddy was there for us with whatever we needed through the entire planning process... She is impeccable with her communication, and whether it was questions, moral support, or just a lighthearted pick me up - she ALWAYS was there for us. Her process was also very easy, straightforward, and her questionnaires and blog posts cover everything your and your spouse might need to know! Leading up to our day, we didn't get to physically MEET Maddy until the day of our wedding, to which she showed up obviously completely over-prepared (which my Type A appreciates beyond a reasonable doubt), excited, and ready to go with us! The INCREDIBLY warm hug she gave both of us just reinforced what we already knew - she was meant to be with us on our big day! Maddy kept us laughing, happy, AND she ran THE BEST interference lol. She is a great reader of emotions, situations, and even pulled me (Alex) aside at one point to have a cool down outside because she knew I was a bit overwhelmed by my family. Through the ceremony and reception Maddy and her assistant were GREAT! We got SO many compliments about both of them from our guests - noting that they were SUPER stealth when they needed a shot! Maddy also has an incredible eye, and her vision for photos is next level... She was able to direct us through everything and if you need yourself a hype girl - OH SHE IS IT!!! She’s also an absolute BOSS and will take control of a situation *if need be,* which was also important to us.. She made group/family/bridal party photos quick and painless which was SO needed, and also got a TON of fun shots through the night! Seeing our shots come to life was spectacular, and when she sent us the sneak peaks we were absolutely FLOORED.... And then seeing our full gallery!? Stunning. Just truly extraordinary. We cannot stop staring at our wedding photos. We share them any chance we get, and so many of our friends and family have asked us how they could use Maddy for their photography needs. Anyone we show our photos to is absolutely taken aback by them, and truly, I think the relationship we created with Maddy shows through in our photos. We were comfortable, excited and genuinely happy! Maddy made our emotions, happiness, and visions come to life through her photos - she is WORTH EVERY SINGLE CENT! We truly can’t wait for Maddy to be in our life through all of the changing seasons and new chapters.

My name is Angie and I want to capture your story. My photography is honest and reflects your awesome, quirky and unique personalities. Prepare to experience an authentic and artistic reflection of your wedding, from its quiet, tender moments to its loud joyous ones. My images show the genuine connections between you and your closest friends and family.

Awarded Best of Zola
As much as Angie's photos speak for themselves, I've got a word or two to say myself: This photographer is THE ONE to capture your big day! We were initially drawn to the natural yet electric feel of Angie's work. The joy of her subjects feels very real -- because it is. Angie is there to capture real joy and real beauty and real love, not to force it through posing or a trick of the light. Her passion is for people and for love itself, and that's what makes her work second to none! Like I wrote above: these stunning shots very much speak for themselves (and they say "joy," "love," "BLISS!" and everything else we experienced on our wedding day) But Angie's talent isn't the only reason to hire her. She is a kind professional with a calming presence and a "sixth sense" for when & where to capture the perfect shot. She's got an artist's eye, and sought out unique locations & lighting to make the most out of our photoshoot around the MASS MoCA campus. (Check out that silhouette of our profiles! A spontaneous idea of hers ;) ) While we were still in the planning stage, Angie took the time to regularly check in with us and prepare. Whenever we were on the phone with her, it felt like she was in the room with us! Her friendliness and passion came through in our conversations, and we felt relieved knowing that we wouldn't have to worry about how we might "get along" with our photographer on our wedding day. Once Angie arrived on the day-of, everything felt natural. Throughout the day & evening, we never felt "overwhelmed" by her presence, yet she was always there to snap the most animated moments. And not just our most animated moments -- the photos of our guests are so charged with emotion, we can hear & feel them! Our favorite part of going through our wedding album has been seeing the joy on our guests' faces, all captured by Angie. Whenever we want to relive that night -- or live a new part of it that we didn't get to see -- our experience and all of our guests' unique experiences are just a few clicks away. I knew her photos would be beautiful, but I didn't anticipate this....totally immersive quality. Each shot is like a portal straight back to the moment it captures. These photos are ALIVE, and we are so grateful! Thank you, Angie, for all of the perfect lil picture-portals 333

I’m a New Hampshire wedding photographer, who specializes in candid, natural wedding photography, serving all of New England for over fifteen years. Almost all of my couples come to me saying that they feel weird in front of the camera and worried about how their photos will turn out. But of course they want those gorgeous, Pinterest-worthy shots! My laid-back attitude will help put you at ease, helping your true personalities shine through (with simple and fun guidance for the posed photos). And my quiet and calm nature makes it easy for me to blend into the background, to get tons of candid photos that you will make you laugh and cry.

Awarded Best of Zola
Brett was one of the first vendors that we had hired for our wedding and my now husband and I HIGHLY recommend that she capture your wedding. She did both our engagement shoot and wedding, which I highly recommend. Doing the engagement shoot with her really helped my husband and I get comfortable in front of the camera and seeing how she worked really calmed our nerves for the wedding – we knew we were in great hands! She is kind, and extremely communicative throughout the entire process – we never had to wait more than a day to hear back from her whether it was a question related to the wedding or asking for copies of our engagement photos. She was also able to provide a lot of information to us regarding what to expect, how to think about what we’d like to see in our photos, planning for the engagement shoot, etc. One of the main reasons we were enamored with Brett is her photography style. Brett’s photos are always so warm, and you can feel the joy radiating off everyone she captures. I felt true happiness going through her gallery and in that moment, we knew she was the photographer for us – we didn’t have to look around for anyone else! I also want to mention that she has an INCREDIBLE turn around time! She would give us an ETA and blow it out of the water – I’d see an email from her and be surprised she already had our photos ready for review. I can honestly say that going with Brett was one of the best decisions we made, I go through our wedding photos fondly and I’m ecstatic to see all the joyful moments she was able to capture. Another thing about Brett is that she has a cool head on her shoulders. On the day of the wedding, we arrived to the venue 30 minutes behind schedule so we were a bit stressed. Brett was extremely calm, but direct when needed to be. Her laid backness and professionalism helped calm me down and before I knew it, I was getting ready and forgot she was there – which honestly helped with the nerves as well. She lets you really live and soak in the moment which, in my opinion, helped create the best photos. Lastly, I feel like what really makes Brett great is how much she cares. As I’ve mentioned before she was very kind and helpful throughout the entire process, and she’s also extremely thoughtful. About a month before the wedding we received a small care package in the mail completely by surprise. It was the sweetest gesture we had received from anyone and really helped us get excited for the wedding – thank you again Brett!!! I feel like I’ve been rambling for a bit, but I just want to shout from the rooftops how much I love Brett and recommend that you have her capture your special day. She is definitely someone I am recommending to anyone I know who gets married and I hope that whoever you are reading this, you’ll trust my review and the plethora of others who with their whole heart trusts Brett and can vouch for what a wonderful job she does.

Where do I begin and how could I ever Capture (pun intended) the love I have for Becca and her work. Becca is the kind of photographer you meet and instantly you have a new friend. She is incredibly professional, but laid back and always makes sure you feel comfortable. As someone who had never had professional pictures done, we didn’t know what to expect. I know personally I was afraid of feeling awkward or that it would look like I was meant to be in an 80’s glamor shot. When I tell you it was so much fun, and Becca’s creativity and ability to just let you be you and capture the raw natural moments with your significant other are unmatched. She gives you great prompts which make you laugh and feel silly, and that’s where the magic happens, when you are blissfully unaware that she is capturing you and your loved one laughing, which turns into the pictures that bring tears to your eyes. Becca takes the time to get to know you, your style, and the vibe of the wedding. She is easy-going and so helpful when it comes to the timeline. She was able to weigh in and help us weigh the pro’s and con’s and looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. What I will suggest is booking with Becca, and spending the money on the second photographer (if it’s within your budget). Having a second shooter made pictures go so smoothly we had some extra time for fun portraits and they’re some of my favorite pictures. Huge thank you to Becca for capturing such beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

Magic Arrow Photography

South Berwick, ME

  • Serves Old Town, ME

Hi there! We're a husband and wife photography team that loves capturing genuine emotion and real moments at your wedding. We believe that there's magic in everything, and our goal as your storytellers is to capture that magic in a way that's honest and true to who you are. We focus on the unique elements that tell the tale of your day, so your final wedding gallery has a timeless storybook feel.

From our first phone call with Jaime & Eddie, we knew they were the perfect couple to capture our big day. They were professional & fun, willing to answer every single question & had the portfolio and expertise we were searching for. Throughout planning, they continue to be a standout vendor. We kept in touch on social media in the early days & Jaime answered every single email quickly and with the exact replies we needed. She is so detailed & caring - I even asked her opinion when choosing between two bridesmaid dress colors and she consulted as a friend and professional. Engagement pictures were another proven point we made the right choice, the photos are unbelievably beautiful but the shoot was so fun! They let us incorporate our dog Ozzie and totally catered to him lol. They achieved our exact vision and over delivered! As the wedding grew closer & planning was getting more detailed, Jaime again, was a rockstar. We had a call to nail down timelines and ensure no detail was missed. The weekend of the wedding, the forecast was calling for thunderstorms and Jaime was allll over the weather, adjusting locations and times as needed so we weren’t scrambling on wedding day. The weather was ultimately on our side and we never saw a rain drop, but I can’t imagine dealing with those unknowns and changes by myself. Wedding day came & they were as stellar as expected! It’s true when they say you’re with your photographers for most of the day, so I am so thankful we genuinely enjoyed spending our day with them. Jaime & Eddie were both thoughtful, kind, creative, flexible, and FUN. We got so many guest compliments about how cool they were. We along with our family could look at these photos for hours. It is so fun reliving that day & we honestly couldn’t have made a better choice than Magic Arrow Photography.

Kelsey Converse

Thornton, NH
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $5,500
  • Serves Old Town, ME

I’m Kelsey – a New Hampshire native elopement photographer for adventurous couples. I’m an avid traveler, having been to over 30 countries across 5 continents and 30 US states. So while I serve New England, you can also be confide in me no matter where you decide to elope! Telling your story means so much to me, and I will do whatever I can to make it the most unbelievable day and experience. I help location scout, provide vendor recommendations and more to make your day seamless so you can show up and enjoy! I keep you in the moment, and am there for you every step of the way. Please reach out on my website - www.kelseyconverse.com !

If you have found your way to the reviews for Kelsey and are still reading reviews then my first piece of advice is to stop immediately and reach out before she is fully booked for the time you'd be needing her! Working with Kelsey is a dream. As a person, she is thoughtful and comforting more than I could explain. Particularly being a 2020 #CoronaBride there's been a lot of ups and downs in the wedding planning process and somehow Kelsey stepped in for the role of friend, bridesmaid, planner, and day of coordinator. Oh - and she still managed to capture EVERYTHING on her camera! Her work is beautiful to say the least. Working with her on actual shoots feels so easy and comfortable, being the subject of her photos is legitimately fun. She gets to know you and wants to capture you and your love in it's own authentic way. Sure there are some posed photos, the kind that you'll be happy to have and look at and maybe also stare at with disbelief that's actually you... but for the most part she wants to you laugh and love and be dynamic and just be yourself. She captures real, pure love. And that, to me, is how I want to look back at my wedding day. The real moments. The in-between moments when you're not doing anything in particular. Kelsey is the kind of person that brings out the best in others and can spot the best, too. So, if you've read this far and are still not sure then I have no words for you. But if you've read this far with a smile just thinking about working with Kelsey, I can personally promise that you'll truly have the best day ever with her. I cannot wait for any and every reason to continue working with Kelsey in the future!

Tara Tomlinson Photography

5.0

Buckfield, ME
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $4,500
  • Serves Old Town, ME

I have been photographing weddings professionally for 14 years and have reached the phase in my career where I can relax and have fun with my couples knowing that I have the skills and experience to back up my passion and creativity. I split my time between the Gulf Coast of Florida and New England, though I now call Maine home. I am both a dog & cat person - I have a Golden Retriever named Oliver, a lab mix named Juniper, a Maine Coon named Meadow, a Siamese mix named Healy, and a teeny little runt-of-the-litter kitty named Lucie. I am an avid audiobook listener - if I am editing, cleaning, or driving, I most likely have an audiobook going!

Hiring Tara Tomlinson as our photographer was hands down the best and most important decision we made for our wedding. From the first phone call we knew she would be who we'd hire for our wedding. Throughout our wedding planning process Tara was excited for us and open to answering our questions when we asked for advice since the wedding planning process was so new and different (I'm the first person in my husband and I's families to get married so we were figuring everything out on our own) and Tara offered support in the form of recommendations when we asked. My husband and I from the beginning were not planning on a first look and wanted to be traditional, on a call with Tara I wanted to hear about her timeline with and without the first look because I was curious and didn't want to be closed off to any ideas for the wedding. Tara explained both timelines perfectly and very respectfully not pushing one or the other. We ended up going with a first look and couldn't be happier with our decision! Tara was extremely professional and personable, this is defiantly not a person you will ever think of micro-managing at any point in the planning process or day of the wedding. Day of the wedding we couldn't have felt more comfortable with her process and vision. The tone she uses throughout the day and with everyone she is shooting was perfect and everyone enjoyed the process and time with her. We received our sneak peaks VERY quickly with more photos then we ever expected at that point. Our photos were beyond what we ever could have expected, a true dream come true and I'm extremely grateful for her and what she produces. I'll end this review with I don't take reviews lightly and am very honest, this women deserves every word written here!

Thomson & Thomson Photography is a must! Emily and Mark were such a pleasure to work with. From the very first conversation, we knew that we were in good hands for our June wedding. We started working with T&T a year out and they guided us each step of the way. We definitely recommend adding an engagement shoot as this was a great way for us to figure out what poses we did or didn't like, and get to know each other before the big day. Our wedding planner also loved working with them! Their professionalism and industry knowledge is a huge benefit. On the day-of they were clear and organized and ensured that we got all of our requested shots. Emily & Mark's attention to detail and style timeless. We are SO beyond happy with the shots we received. They capture the day so perfectly! We did a first look so that we could enjoy the cocktail hour with our guests and this meant we also got some great shots of our guests. Our guests have said that looking at the photos throws them right back into the moment which is exactly what we hoped for. I couldn't recommend Thomson & Thomson enough. From start to finish, they were incredible.

Hi! I’m Justin (he/him) and I’m here to affirm your love, make you feel like a fucking rockstar, and dance like a total fool. Oh, and take so many gorgeous photos of y’all. Obvs. My style blends both documentary photojournalism and fine art photography: coaching folks who are shy in front of the camera, then stepping back to capture authentic moments uninterrupted. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work published by A Practical Wedding, The New York Times, GLAMOUR, People Magazine and many other fabulous outlets. I'm a stereotypical Capricorn that loves drag shows, campy horror films, every dog I meet, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Awarded Best of Zola
Simply put, Justin is the BEST of the BEST. While his photos are undeniably beautiful in every way, it is Justin’s personality, humor, flexibility, professionalism, and panache that set him apart from all the rest. He was one of the first vendors we hired and, from day one, we knew were in excellent and expert hands. He took the time to get to know us as individuals and as a couple, which allowed us to have a seamless relationship (and friendship!) by the time we actually stood in front of his camera during our sweetheart session and on our wedding day. This level of comfort was key — neither my husband nor I had ever been professionally photographed, but Justin made us feel completely at ease by cracking jokes, making us whisper funny things in each other’s ears, and giving us gentle guidance about what we could do to make the moment, well, picture perfect! Justin goes above and beyond for his clients. During a pre-wedding chat, I mentioned the possibility of having anxiety about being the center of attention on our wedding day and the pressure of talking to so many family and friends. Justin suggested we have a signal between us so that he could whisk me away if I was stuck talking to someone for too long. I’m lucky that I didn’t need to use the signal, but just knowing Justin had my back was hugely comforting. Additionally, after we hired Justin, we were at a loss for where else to turn for the other million things needed to put this wedding together. In a flash, Justin was there with infinite recommendations based on our taste, our budget, and his own vendor relationships. Hiring Justin was one of the best decisions we made and I would recommend him a thousand times over!!!!!

My name is Morgan Elise, and I have had a camera in my hand since I was around nine years old. I specialize as a storyteller & documentarian photographer. Nothing brings me more joy than capturing moments you don’t necessarily see… but I do. I am constantly looking for those quiet moments, genuine smiles, laughs, hugs, kisses, etc. I want to tell YOUR story as authentically as I can. My work has heavily been influenced by my intuition and empathic gifts, history, vogue, literature- mostly Jane Austen, and poetry. Before every session, I create a story of poses for each client, carefully curated for each person’s personal story.

Awarded Best of Zola
When I was looking for a wedding photographer, my main goal was to find a photographer that could capture the raw emotions of the day. I looked through HUNDREDS of photographers and Morgan stood out for the way she balanced artistry, emotion, and detail. Morgan captured the most stunning images of my wedding. I am so impressed by the way she was able to capture our personalities in the photos. Not only did we receive beautiful still portraits, but we received pictures that made us feel like we were reliving the moments. That’s exactly what you want from a wedding photographer. On top of the beautiful images, Morgan is a joy to work with. She is kind and uplifting, extremely professional, and turns the photos around extremely fast. Morgan was one of the best choices I made for our wedding and you should absolutely choose her too.

Booking Alli as our photographer was one of the best decisions we made wedding planning!! From creating a fully comprehensive timeline of the day, putting together a collage of Pinterest inspiration photos to know exactly what we wanted, scouting out photo locations at our venue the day before the wedding, making everyone feel comfortable and confident on the day of, and truly just working with efficiency, skill, and professionalism. Alli and Josh truly went above and beyond and we are so grateful for them!! Our friends, family, bridal party and everyone involved agreed that the Mannixco was the best overall photographer that any of us have ever worked with! One of our groomsmen said, “a lot of people with a good camera can take a good photo, but not everyone can be a great photographer like Alli”!! If you want beautiful wedding photos and a photographer who knows what they’re doing but feels like a friend at your wedding, I 100% would recommend the Mannixco to anyone!!

The first part of wedding planning for us was finding the photographer because it was the most important to me (other than the man I was marrying). I was prepared to search high and low to find the perfect photographer, but Jessica found us! After attending a wedding expo she reached out and offered her services. We met for coffee and discussed our hopes and dreams for our upcoming wedding. There was an instant connection! I told Jessica wedding photos were at the top of my priority list, because they’re what lasts forever. I can look back on those photos and remember the excitement, happiness, and pure joy of marrying the man of my dreams. I told her I was looking for someone to capture the little moments along with the big. Jessica promised us everything we asked for and, man oh man, she delivered!!! I cannot speak highly enough of her. Every part of the process was made simple because of her organization and talent. Every communication we had was prompt, thoughtful, and respectful. She listened to our wishes, offered her expertise, and created unbelievable results!! Jessica and her assistant (Crystal) were fun to be around and made our sessions with them fly by. They made sure every detail was picture-perfect… even during our freezing cold outdoor engagement session. If anyone asks me for a photographer, Jessica is the name I give, every single time. She signed on to do our wedding, but we are now her clients for life because no one will compare to the incredible job she does. Let me squash any doubts you have and help you with the best decision you’ll make when it comes to finding a photographer… just hire Jessica Yahn!! We are forever grateful to have crossed paths with her!!
