Hi! I’m Justin (he/him) and I’m here to affirm your love, make you feel like a fucking rockstar, and dance like a total fool. Oh, and take so many gorgeous photos of y’all. Obvs. My style blends both documentary photojournalism and fine art photography: coaching folks who are shy in front of the camera, then stepping back to capture authentic moments uninterrupted. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work published by A Practical Wedding, The New York Times, GLAMOUR, People Magazine and many other fabulous outlets. I'm a stereotypical Capricorn that loves drag shows, campy horror films, every dog I meet, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
At the heart of my work, I centers m clients’ truest selves and intentions for their special days. I try to connect genuinely with all of my clients so we can make images that are true to you. Having photographed over 175 weddings, I know that having real conversations not only helps us get on the same page, but also let’s me give you the best experience possible — plus all the pretty pictures. You won’t worry about being in front of the camera because you’ll connect with the person behind it. I work with socially conscious, vivacious, creative people who believe in feminism, that love is love, and that Black Lives Matter.

Justin McCallum took amazing engagement photos of us. We keep several of the photos framed in our home and are happy to see them everyday. He is conscientious, thoughtful, and very talented. His eye is impeccable, both in the moment and in the editing stages. Justin is also dedicated, creative, and funny, which makes him a joy to have photograph you. He will put you at ease and draw you out naturally for great photos that will be quintessentially you. Having Justin shoot our wedding and reception was easily one of the best decisions we made. As two people without social media who don’t feel comfortable taking pictures, Justin made us feel at ease and very confident in front of his lens. Both our engagement and wedding shoots were full of laughter and fun, and it is evident in the incredible photographs that we get to look back on for the rest of our lives. Justin begins with in-depth conversations over Zoom and even an in-person drinks ahead of time to ensure that personalities matched, and that expectations, wants, and needs, are clear. He asked thoughtful questions, even down to how he could intercede in awkward or unpleasant moments during the wedding, which was above and beyond his job description. This attention to detail clearly reflects how personable, thoughtful, sensitive, and compassionate Justin is. He also was so proactive and flexible in ensuring that we were inclusive and accommodating for special needs family members, which literally made me cry because that can be something very challenging to navigate and for Justin, it was just him being a good human and very good at his job. The photos themselves came out unbelievably - to the point where we gifted our parents photo albums and other family members requested copies of their own! When we originally searched for photographers, so many wedding portfolios felt like stock images or standard, canned, or trendy poses. Justin is truly in a league of his own. His style is unique, and that is what grabbed our attention in the first place. He has a way of capturing the essence and individuality of each couple that is unparalleled. All of our friends and family continue to rave to us about how wonderful and fun he was..and we know because we had to literally purchase a digital frame to deal with the happy “problem” of having TOO MANY AMAZING photos. TL;DR: Hire Justin. Thank us later.
