Hi! I’m Justin (he/him) and I’m here to affirm your love, make you feel like a fucking rockstar, and dance like a total fool. Oh, and take so many gorgeous photos of y’all. Obvs. My style blends both documentary photojournalism and fine art photography: coaching folks who are shy in front of the camera, then stepping back to capture authentic moments uninterrupted. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work published by A Practical Wedding, The New York Times, GLAMOUR, People Magazine and many other fabulous outlets. I'm a stereotypical Capricorn that loves drag shows, campy horror films, every dog I meet, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
At the heart of my work, I centers m clients’ truest selves and intentions for their special days. I try to connect genuinely with all of my clients so we can make images that are true to you. Having photographed over 175 weddings, I know that having real conversations not only helps us get on the same page, but also let’s me give you the best experience possible — plus all the pretty pictures. You won’t worry about being in front of the camera because you’ll connect with the person behind it. I work with socially conscious, vivacious, creative people who believe in feminism, that love is love, and that Black Lives Matter.

Talented and Kind: a wonderful combo
I don't even know where to begin. TL/DR: Hire Justin. If you are looking for a person who is as responsible as he is fun, whose pictures are an absurdly brilliant mix of editorial, candid, and artistic; who manages to capture the most joyful moments in the most moving ways, look no further. Photography was important to me; as a bride who had many friends go down the aisle before me, I tried to heed their advice: the photographer is perhaps the most important investment you can make. When I saw Justin's pictures, one word came to mind: "joy." There was a vibrancy and humanity to his work that made me tear up just looking at his website. This, combined with the very obvious technical skill he possessed, made me thrilled that he was still available on our wedding date. Our initial phone call set the tone for the whole process: fun and incredibly thorough and organized. Indeed, throughout the whole process, Justin was our go to for any questions we had; as the photographer, it made sense for him to keep an eye on logistics, but we were unprepared for how above and beyond Justin would go to make sure our day ran smoothly, from the planning process to execution. Don't let his insanely fun personality fool you: at our wedding he was heads and tails the most professional person there, ready with his shot list, keeping things moving; and yet somehow managed to keep the mood light, fun, and a little bit raunchy. Indeed, a good word for Justin is "prepared." We had a survey to fill out before our big day, to let him know just what elements were most important to us. When I saw the photos, I couldn't believe how closely he had followed this. The sheer artistry on display, and the range of shots, it didn't seem like just one person could be responsible. The variety and quality was incredible. And that was a direct result of our having asked for that; that is the wonderful thing about Justin, he cares deeply about his clients and pays attention to them; despite his talent there is no ego involved. He also seems to care deeply about his clients' family...and their friends...and all the wedding guests; everyone commented on how friendly and professional and fun he was. I could go on, likely, forever, but a final note: for my husband and I, the most important thing was capturing the people who came that day to celebrate with us; that was what we wanted to remember most. We told this to Justin, and when I got the pictures back, I was blown away-- his ability to capture the essence of our family and friends, the way he captured distinct mannerisms, gestures...it was uncanny. That requires training, and artistry; but also kindness, empathy and depth. Justin has all of those in spades. It was important for my husband and I to hire someone we wanted to spend the day with; we didn't want him to leave! In post-production, Justin has been just as generous with his time and wrapping up any loose ends. He stays in touch and makes sure you are thrilled with the final product. It was a pleasure to get to know him and we hope we are cool enough for him to be a part of our lives forever!

Choosing Justin as our wedding photographer was the best decision we made in our wedding planning! Working with him was an absolute blast - he brought so much energy, creativity, and laughter to our special day. From start to finish, Justin's professionalism and years of experience shone through, and his ability to capture us, who are not always the most comfortable in front of a camera, was truly impressive. He also went above and beyond to be flexible with our schedule and preferences. We felt like we were hanging out with a friend who just happened to be an incredibly talented photographer. If you are considering Justin for your wedding- just do it, you won’t regret it!

As someone who's been in the wedding industry for almost a decade, it can be challenging to find other vendors who are aligned with my business mission of inclusion and community, embraces creativity, and is a joy to hang out with. And Justin literally checks every box. He's a leader in the industry- everywhere I look I see him turning up, making space for people, encouraging and lifting them up. He's the real deal, and has the biggest heart. I happily consider Justin as more than just a "friendor," but someone who makes my life (and the world) brighter.

Justin was phenomenal to work with! We hired him as we noticed how, compared to the other photographers we were considering, his images evoked fun and a world of vivid colors, and above all, everyone in his photos looked HAPPY, which is a harder quality to find in professional wedding photos than you might think. Anyway, Justin did not disappoint! While a consummate professional, he was also incredibly fun to work with and was great at putting us at ease in order to get the best, most natural photos possible. He brilliantly captured the warmth and love of our wedding day. We felt seen and understood throughout the process of working with him, and the resulting images were gorgeous, bursting with light, color, and joy.
