We booked The Hook Club for all of the music moments for our big day in February 2023. Very easy process - They sent a google sheet with questions and for us to comment on music options, so they could get a good sense for our unique preferences. We loved the process & organization, as it made it really easy to collaborate. There was also an opportunity to add requests for songs outside of those they listed - they ended up performing the majority of our special requests! Extremely talented musicians - they performed unique versions of the songs across a very wide range of genres (from classical to 60s to soul to Latin to EDM…). We started with a solo cellist for the ceremony, the funky trio for the cocktail hour, followed by the DJ Band for the reception. All were fantastic, and each helped set the tone for the different parts of our event. Guests had a blast! They danced all night and kept asking us where we found the band as they said they were the best one they’ve ever heard at a wedding! The musicians interacted with the guests on the dance floor and we could tell they adapted their set based on the likes and energy of the room.

Lucas was so wonderful to work with and truly made our wedding night spectacular! He was responsive to our questions and open to our style, playing all of our favorites. Multiple guests came up to us throughout the night to let us know how much they liked Lucas and the music, and his friendliness and kindness with our friends and family was so appreciated. He mixed together songs so well, and provided music and microphones for our ceremony and speeches. I highly recommend Lucas to anyone looking for a talented, considerate DJ who you and your guests will all love.

I booked their services for my wedding, and it became a movie. Everybody was dancing, and nobody wanted to sit down. My guests missed their salads and opening foods. They had to make an announcement for the party to stop just to feed us the entree. My wedding is still talked about to this day.

Monica Re Martin

New York, NY
  • Solo performer

Monica Re Martin is a in-demand NYC violinist, violist and strings arranger - and the perfect contractor for your wedding! Monica performs regularly on Broadway, with the NYC Ballet, and with top artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Kygo. She can be seen playing weddings on TV shows like "Summer House" and "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." Monica is available as a solo violinist, both acoustic and electric, and as an instrumental duo, string trio, or string quartet.

I hired Monica and her quartet to play during our wedding cocktail hour! Monica was professional throughout and communicated really well with me from the moment I booked her to the day of the wedding! She offered to arrange songs for me that may not be on her very comprehensive list. We requested pop songs on strings and the vibe was perfect! I would highly recommend booking Monica to contract and play at your wedding!

What music packages are available for weddings in New York City?

Whether you want a string quartet to serenade your ceremony, a 12-piece band, or a DJ to drop beats until dawn, there's a package for every style and budget in New York City. The music package will vary depending on the group, number of performers, hours played, and more, so make sure to review all of the details in advance to ensure the soundtrack to your wedding plays without a hitch.

How do we coordinate our wedding timeline with the band or DJ in New York City?

Communication is key. Your band or DJ should be in sync with your wedding day schedule, hitting the right notes at the right moments. Now, that’s a savvy question! In a city that never sleeps, some venues do still have bedtime rules. Fear not, because your wedding planner or venue contacts will be clued in on any noise ordinances. They’ll make sure the party's volume matches the vibe—without the need for noise-canceling headphones.

What equipment do bands and DJs in NYC provide, and what do we need to provide?

Most bands and DJs come loaded with their mixers, mics, and maybe some flashy lights. But it's a good idea to check if your venue is set up for sound or if it's BYOS—bring your own speakers. You might need to rent some equipment if you’re planning a party in a raw or less traditional event space.
