In 2013, my passion for flowers started when I landed a job at a local flower shop. Entranced by the art, I fell head over heels in love with the intricacies of designing something new & special for a specific individual. I immersed myself, continually discovering new techniques & experimenting. My traditional design skills mixed with my trained eye from the fashion industry has helped shape what my design style is today- whimsical, ethereal, & extremely detailed. I consider my arrangements & installations to be a sculptures & am inspired by nature and it’s immense growth & colors, Dutch Master paintings, & the 60s psychedelic movement.

I’ve been flowering events for almost half my life, and have experience slingin’ blooms in just about every setting you can imagine all across Long Island and beyond. I have witnessed cycles of trends and many changes in both the wedding and floral industry, all of which has shaped me as a designer and entrepreneur. I love to work with local farms and growers for both unique and traditional bloom options, while also growing flowers of my own that almost always make their way into my work. Therefore, my flowering style is often organic and whimsy, yet timeless.

Tony Montano is owner of and principal designer at BUDS. He is a self-taught floral artist with a passion to articulate his creative vision through fresh flowers in decidedly custom haute couture designs. He spent many years in New York City where he had the chance to experience floral designing in an entirely different level having worked alongside New York City's finest florists and event designers on many international events and the most glamorous private events.
