Our property has been in the family since 1960, and the trees were planted in 2007. Our pavilion is 30 by 40 and was built in the summer of 2011 using beams harvested from the property. Articulating glass windows & doors on the South & East walls allow us to control temperature shifts, creating a unique indoor/outdoor space. Stissing House is one of the oldest taverns in America, located at the crossroads of the village of Pine Plains in the heart of Dutchess County. Upstairs, the oldest Dutch Colonial ballroom in America is designed for long-table dinners and weddings of 25-150 people. Chef/Proprietor Clare de Boer cooks food that is generous and has a sense of place. Ingredients come from surrounding farms and are prepared simply on the tavern’s mammoth hearth. I was born and partially raised in Southern California. After a few years + an exceptionally long cross country road trip - my parents decided to move us to the east coast. We've been complaining about the beaches ever since. My sister was always the artistic one. She sold her first piece while she was still in middle school, it took me a lot longer to figure out what I wanted to do. When I started doing photography - I honestly didn't realize how much I'd love it. It's not just about the lighting, filter, or the pursuit of the perfect Instagram feed. Sometimes it means going into the ocean to get the perfect shot.
