I’m Katy, a Michigan based wedding + event photographer who loves to travel. I’ve been photographing weddings since 2016. My love for photography started out when I was about 6 years old. I’m a huge goofball, so if you’ve ever thought “I’ll be too awkward in photos," I know what you mean. We can be goofballs together, and I promise I won’t let you look awkward in any of your photos. A little more about me: I'm a foodie. Send bar/restaurant recommendations please! I spend a good portion of my time at concerts when I'm not photographing anything. I'm also a HUUUUGE Detroit Red Wings fan!
I don’t like to put my work into one box. My work can be a little documentary + storytelling, it can be classic, it can be candid, it can be editorial, it can be romantic, it can be all of the things. My work tends to be on the more vibrant + contrasty, warm and moody side of things though. Creating a relationship before the wedding day, and being there for your journey is so important to me because I strive to be a safe space and a new best friend for my clients. Not to mention, I feed off my clients energy, it helps me capture the day in the best way possible.

Katy is AMAZING! Our photos turned incredible and were everything we dreamed of. Not only that, Katy was such a wonderful part of our day. We had a very small wedding and every person that interacted with her or saw her working was obsessed with her. All I heard the following day was how great she was and how fun she made the day. I wish I could get married again to have her so my pictures again!
Michigan's Best Kept Photography Secret
Where to begin? Finding Katy was truly one of the biggest blessings of our wedding process. It was very important to find a photographer who we felt had, and actively displayed, the ability to photograph in an inclusive, respectful and honest manner. We are an interfaith couple with family and friends who fall everywhere along the social, identity and religious spectrum. Once we found Katy, we were blown away by the love, care and diversity showcased in her portfolio. Upon meeting with her virtually, we were convinced that she was the right person. Katy is kind, understanding and VERY good at what she does. When it comes to the work, Katy was proactive without being pushy and really took to heart what we wanted out of our photos. Over the course of the experience, we were able to develop a real friendship with her because she is that good of a person. The day of the event, Katy was locked in and on top of everything. Prior to our weekend, she had done an amazing job of giving us prep sheets and coordinating as much detail as possible so the big day could just glide. Katy and her second shooter Jen (who was amazing, too!) were professional, fun and didn't miss a moment of the day. Everything from planned photos to impromptu shots felt fun and natural. Getting back the album completely blew past our expectations. Every photo captured exactly what we had discussed with her. So many photographs left us speechless. Katy should be at the top of your list if you want great photos full of love, care, and magic. She is down to earth and was the only photographer we spoke to that didn't make us feel like we were just another gig for them.

Hiring Katy was hands down the best decision we made for our wedding. Our pictures are beyond perfect! We love every single one and friends and family still rave about them even years later. She brought so many fun ideas for different poses and made sure that we got every single picture that we had on our list. It really felt like she tailored how she shot to fit us as a couple and our pictures definitely show it! All of our pictures have our personality in them and they are just absolutely beautiful!
