We are Northampton's newest, most modernized banquet facility, however Union Station has been a fixture for over 100 years. Originally built in 1897, Union Station pairs history and modernization, with our premiere 200 seat ballroom, three restaurants, and adjoining ancillary spaces such as The Atrium, The Lounge, and The Blue Goose. “As soon as we toured Union Station Banquets, my parents, fiance, and I all agreed that it was the perfect venue. The architecture is beautiful, the layout is easy for guests, and there are unique historical touches to make it special. The packages are surprisingly affordable and met our needs. What we didn't discover until later was how amazing the coordinator, Neil, and his staff are. They are truly professionals. They are responsive to inquiries, extremely organized, and just altogether on top of things. They took care of everything for us, making planning and executing the wedding day a breeze. The day went off without a hitch and we are still receiving so many compliments from guests about how great their experience was. I really can't imagine going through the whole wedding process without Neil and his team; it would have been so overwhelming, especially since I don't have as much time as the average bride to devote to wedding planning and coordinating all the little nuances involved. We did splurge on the Asian Station and the ice cream sundae/coffee bar, both were big hits and really helped to keep the party flowing for adults and kids alike. We would recommend Union Station Banquets to anyone, amazingly through a year of working together to coordinate our day we don't have a single negative comment to make about them, they are outstanding!”

Welcome! We are so glad you are considering the Montague Retreat Center for hosting your wedding! Our team wishes to help personalize your experience in our extraordinary place. Our lush Ceremony Circle, nestled up to the apple orchard, sits beneath one of the oldest maple groves in Massachusetts, with a stunning view across the valley. Our Stone Patio features a permanent 40’ x 50’ reception tent and a 75’ long retaining wall/bench. Our elegant, rustic Great Hall barn has chestnut beams, bamboo floors, lots of glass and geothermal cooling. Visit our website to learn more about our rich history! Montague couples will work with our exclusive catering team, Wheelhouse for food & bar. Some of our other amenities include 10 on-site accommodations that sleep between 24-32, our yurt, an ADA-compliant lift, and accessible restrooms. Two streams run through the property and the Robert Frost Trail is within walking distance.

“When we started planning our July wedding, we knew that we wanted a beautiful, eco-conscious, outdoor venue in the rolling Massachusetts hills where we could host guests for the whole weekend and people could camp and sit by a fire at night. We weren’t sure we’d find someplace that checked all those boxes; then we found the Montague Retreat Center. It was everything we were looking for and more. We loved that we had the whole weekend to see our guests and that they got to know the place, too. The Center already has a tent set up for the reception, and the venue was so well set up with its own furniture and catering-ready kitchen, that other vendors kept telling us how delighted they were to be going back there. We had around 100 guests, about 25 of which camped at the Center. The camp site is in a pine forest on the property, and our camping guests were all very happy with their stay and with the facilities. A lot happens in a wedding weekend, but the staff is prepared for anything and everything. The caretaker, John, was particularly notable in how quickly and quietly he took care of the facilities while we were there. We’d turn around and he’d have taken care of the trash or put another few logs on the fire. It was easy and wonderful. It was wonderful to have things like lights already set up, and a room of wedding decorations others have left to reuse or leave instead of stress about bringing everything and cleaning it all up. We were glad they compost everything and the facility even runs on geo-thermal heating/cooling. We took the Retreat Center’s recommendations for almost all of our vendors, and they were all wonderful (especially Wheelhouse Catering for our reception and Jackie M coordinating all of our vendors and the day of the wedding). We got flowers from Red Fire Farm, and sent our guests to check out the Montague Book Mill (and took photos there ourselves!). We are so glad we found the Montague Retreat Center!”
