Kathy and John chased a dream to move to Vermont and start a farm, having had careers as science teachers in the Philadelphia area. Kathy had attended University of Vermont, fell in love with the state, and vowed to return one day. John left teaching to take his lifelong organic gardening passion to the next level. The West Mountain Inn was originally built as a farmhouse in 1809. From 1880 to 1920, first a gristmill and then a lumber mill were operated on the Battenkill River at the foot of the mountain. Monadnock Berries is more than a pick-your-own berry farm with a view that makes you want to stay forever. It is a place where people come together because family is central to everything we do. Some families work the land here alongside our own, some gather here to pick berries and connect year after year, and others celebrate their union here with weddings. Everyone who gives to or harvests from this land feels a special connection to it. Farmer Anthony grew up on a fruit farm in England. He moved to the United States in 1995 and took his family with him. They fell in love with what is now Monadnock Berries and the rest is history. They started as a family farm and consider their employees to be family as well.

We are a very laid back team of husband and wife running his family's 6th generation family farm. We are rustic but also a charming, authentic Vermont experience. The barn can become incredibly elegant for a more formal affair but can also look just perfect with some simple, personal accents. Some of the great things that people love about our venue is our relaxed vibe, we are a BYOB facility and we allow any and all outside vendors. We can house up to 50 guests in the 4 houses that are available on our property. We also allow camping anywhere on the 350 acre property and we have an awesome "glamping site" available for rent as well. We are a weekend rental with the ability to add on days before and after the event to prepare and to relax after. We also have no curfews and encourage you and your guests to party in the barn or around the firepit all night long.

Is it really pink? Yes! After painting an old barn red, the original owners realized they wouldn't have enough red paint left over to completely cover the house. Rather than buy more paint, they opted instead to add in the excess white paint they had lying around and voilà, a pink house!
