The building dates back to 1837, a three-level structure which was built by William Nelson. Peekskill lawyer, Congressman, and friend to Abraham Lincoln. A small stage, built on the 3rd floor in 1870, was identified as the “Dramatic Hall.” This emblematic building had been abandoned for about 20 years and fallen into disrepair until 2012, a complete renovation took place restoring the 1870-era theater. The Dramatic Hall serves as a space to host weddings, private parties, plays, live music performances, and more.

Clients booking weddings, anniversaries and other celebrations have a choice of the Veranda with views of the gardens, Banquet Room with its own glimmering fire or, weather permitting, the gardens with a white party tent if needed. Akindale is not a typical wedding venue; but it is an exceptional place for your wedding. Our core mission is to rescue and care for retired Thoroughbred racehorses and we have over 120 on site. We are working farm, not a manufactured showplace. Therein lies our natural beauty. We welcome all types of ceremonies, and respect individual creativity. As a nonprofit, we are able to fund our work with the horses through offering our spaces and as such, your location fee will be completely tax-deductible.
