In the heart of Center City, this landmark mansion takes its name from Horace Trumbauer, esteemed architect of America's Gilded Age. His career was launched with the creation of Lynnewood Hall in Elkins Park, the Georgian Revival palace commissioned by streetcar tycoon Peter A. B. Widener in 1897. A native Philadelphian, Trumbauer is also associated with grandiose buildings in New York and Newport, the main library at Harvard University and much of the campus of Duke University. Today, Trumbauer is hailed as one of America's premier architects. In 1906, he embarked on Trumbauer Hall, a formal Colonial Revival building of brick, concrete, limestone and marble construction. What began as one of the most prestigious private city clubs in North America is now also Center City’s best address for high-end entertaining. At the heart of the thriving early industrial community known as Rittenhouse Town, the first paper mill in America was built. It all began when, in 1687, papermaker William Rittenhouse followed other Quaker and Mennonite families emigrating to the newly formed neighborhood of Germantown (founded in 1683). Hagley Museum and Library is an historic wedding venue in Wilmington, Delaware. The venue is located on the property of a nineteenth-century estate, the original home of the du Pont family, now home to Hagley Museum. With 235 acres of grassy meadows, towering trees, and historic heirloom gardens along the banks of the Brandywine River, you're sure to capture incredible photos of your special day. The property features three distinct event facilities for hosting weddings, the capacity varying from an intimate gathering of 20 guests or fewer, to an outdoor celebration with 200 guests.
