Merri-Makers Catering

5.0

  • Serves Pleasantville, NJ

Our story begins in 1978 with Rick Bott, a lifetime resident of Monmouth County and recent graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, at the inception of his career at his small storefront in Red Bank, NJ. At that little shop on Monmouth Street, Rick meets Cindy, his partner in business and in life. Over the past 40 years, Rick and Cindy have had the privilege of catering over 6,000 unique and custom weddings, nurtured four children (and one grandchild!), and have led Merri-Makers to become one of the distinguished caterers in the country.

MIYC is an absolute DREAM. Gianna is incredible at her job. Her and her team went above and beyond all day and all the days leading up to the wedding. When we toured Mallard, aside from loving the venue, we loved Gianna!! She was extremely patient with all my questions (and there were a lot), putting us completely at ease that our day would be seamless. Her and her team did such an amazing job making sure everything is on schedule down to the very minute. They are truly experts in their field and made sure us and our parents were taken care of the entire day. Not to mention you get the entire estate – we had our bridal party stay in the suits upstairs so the party could keep going! MIYC’s catering is MerriMakers who is also out of this world. So many of our guests raved about all the food, especially the cocktail hour. If you’re a sushi lover - SPLURGE FOR THE SUSHI. The display was incredible and the freshness was out of this world.

Working with Ellen was wonderful. Her professionalism, courtesy and thoughtfulness were outstanding. Her food was both delicious and presented beautifully. I am so happy I went with her and will gladly call her again. So low key and genuinely a very nice person. She helped with so many things that were above and beyond her job. I highly recommend Ellen to cater your party. Mine was a graduation party at a community room in a NYC apartment building. It has difficult parking and drop off for all her catering materials. But Ellen made it work. She also helped me plan a very tasteful menu. Also her assistant, Alex, was so professional and diligent. They both really helped make my party a success!"

La Mila Catering & Events

5.0

  • Starts at $75
  • Serves Pleasantville, NJ

Starting their careers in the restaurant and food industry, Elie & Heidi Hanna decided to utilize their unique experiences and create their own vision of a full service event company. La Mila is named after their daughter, Milana, who provides them with limitless inspiration and motivation.

As a classically trained chef, I hope my review of La Mila inspires anyone doing their “homework” to earn an A — for themselves, especially their guests. I’ve been to many weddings, and the food served is often an edible afterthought. How many times, when leaving a wedding, were you asked, “What did you think about the food?” — and you replied with shrugged shoulders, “Eh, it was okay.” That is not the case with La Mila. A huge shoutout and thank you to Sandy, who was able to pull together a phenomenal menu all in a very timely timeline. Sandy was honest, upfront, and available around our busy work schedule. The day before and the day of, Sandy was there to help with setup — from the big asks, like helping move furniture, to the small tasks—like lighting lanterns and ensuring no glass of champagne for our toast was served empty! Given our wedding took place at our home, we thoroughly appreciated Sandy staying late to clean the kitchen, empty overflowing garbage, and make sure our home was not a war zone when we woke up the next morning! Elie’s execution of our menu was stellar. As a classically trained chef, I was thoroughly impressed by the well-run machine Elie could create within our garage, the makeshift kitchen for the event. It rained on our wedding day, and we were blessed with a beautiful, vivid rainbow—right before dinner service. This blessing brought all our guests outside for 30 minutes—right before dinner. A major wrench in the moment-by-moment timeline. I know how this, for many chefs, can be a disruptive, unexpected delay—but Elie did not miss a beat. All of our guests raved about the food—notably friends who I graduated with from the Culinary Institute of America. One thing I learned in culinary school is that you “eat with your eyes first.” Simply put, Heidi’s presentation skills are on point! Her attention to detail in creating beautiful food displays, notably for our cocktail hour, showed the care, thought and love we wanted our guests to feel. Sandy, Elie, and Heidi may be the stars of La Mila’s show—but the success of our wedding would not have been possible without their hard-working and friendly staff. One of the elements that sold us on choosing La Mila, was their well-stocked arsenal of kitchen equipment they brought on site. (Most caterers require you rent equipment separately, which is not only more expensive, but introduces a whole new dimension of moving parts.) La Mila was also able to include chinaware, silverware, and the majority of our glassware! They even included soft drinks, water, condiments, cocktail napkins, etc. — all of this, and they still came in under what we were quoted by other caterers. Thank you, Sandy, Elie, Heidi, and the entire La Mila Catering & Events team, for making our wedding day what it was. Your talent, professionalism, and experience were felt by everyone who took part in our special day.

foodwerx featuring Nicholas Caterers

5.0

  • Starts at $8,500
  • Serves Pleasantville, NJ

Established in 1998 by chef Nick Wall, foodwerx is the premier catering and event-production company in South Jersey and Philadelphia. Delicious food is Nick Wall’s passion; creativity, flawless execution and exceptional attention to detail are his hallmarks—and the foundation of foodwerx. We use only the finest and freshest ingredients to create delectable offerings served up with an added ‘wow’ factor. We are 100 percent committed to impeccable service. Whether you’re planning a wedding, bar mitzvah, sweet sixteen, graduation party, special birthday, anniversary, shower or a corporate event, foodwerx will meet your highest standards.

Roxanne, the Bridal Specialist, through foodwerx was absolutely amazing. Prior to the day-of she was organized, extremely communicative, and really helped guide us in the right direction in terms of food choices, decorations, and timeline. She gets started with documents and planning very early, which I absolutely loved. It really helped us shape what me and my fiance wanted the day to look like. Roxanne gave her own input, which I also love, because she's the professional and does this all year round! Each time I had a call with Roxanne, she would give little 'pearls of wedding wisdom' which were amazing tips/tricks that she's picked up through her experience. Day-of, everything was SO smooth because of Roxanne, she handled all the decorations and vendors and was there for my fiance and I with anything we could possibly need. Photos, food, drinks, you name it. She helped wrangle family for toasts, entrances, dances, etc. On top of all of that, the food was AMAZING! All our guests raved about the food at the cocktail hour and the pumpkin ravioli at dinner. After the wedding, Roxanne followed-up to ensure we were happy and had the best time, and she also sent photos that she took throughout the day to me (and my Dad). So incredibly grateful for Roxanne.
