My name is Dave Herring and I started Herring Photography in 2017. I live in Plaistow, NH with my wife Kalila, our son Davy, and our dogs Snickers and Chipwich. I have a dual background both as a pastor and as a financial analyst, but a few years ago, I bought a camera to document our trip to the UK and I never anticipated how much that would change my life. As a lifelong fan of photography, I became obsessed with learning about how cameras work and how to capture the important and beautiful moments of life.

One of my first memories of my mother was her picking me up from my babysitter’s on a snow day during her lunch break and taking me to go sledding at their nearest hill. What was she doing while I was traveling up and down that hill? Taking photos of the surrounding scenery. As I grew older and lost my mother, I started to value the moments that were captured on camera more and more. As film turned to digital, it became easier to take photos of everything and anything, and then choosing what to keep.

Capture the North was founded by multi-award-winning, and published photographer Sarah K. Marshall, and her husband, Christopher Marshall. Both are Marine Corps veterans and native New Englanders. Despite traveling across the world while serving in the Marine Corps, there is still something so magical about the New England area for them. Sarah was named Department of Defense Military Photographer of the Year 2020, and Marine Corps Photographer of the Year 2020 + 2021. Her work has been displayed in the National Museum of the Marine Corps and her imagery was the cover art of Leatherneck Magazine.

[That means that posing you in silly ways that seem fake / awkward isn't really my jam.] I mean, unless that gets some snuggles & laughs. I'm ALLLL about that. I like to capture REAL life with REAL emotions and REAL smiles. Your session should be relaxed and fun. [All while I get some kick-ass photos!] I will most likely make a giant fool of myself at your session, so you'll feel like a professional. Hi, I’m Julie! I’ve been photographing weddings for about ten years now (holy cow, do I feel old!), starting with photographing friends' weddings and quickly falling in love with the work. While I adore capturing gorgeous portraits of the bride and groom and the quiet (and sometimes chaotic!), beautiful moments during a wedding/elopement/engagement session, those ridiculous candid moments (like when a stranger offers you a fry on the boardwalk during your bridesmaid photos) truly make your day uniquely yours.
