Valerie started out in editorial photography and branched out to events, commercial and architectural photography. In 2010 she took a position as the head photographer at the NYSE. Her position covered many areas of photography including, photojournalism, events, marketing, and portraiture. In 2017 Valerie branched out on her own to continue working with clients, focusing on corporate events and marketing. In 2020, she shifted her business to Weddings . She now lives in Albany with her husband and 3 children.

When I'm not shooting weddings, I’m a total beach bum. This might sound like an oxymoron coming from a native Montrealer, but I adore the ocean (and very much dislike winter). I swim and surf whenever possible, and I get out to the Rockaways as often as I can. I do a ton of beach photography, including a series about couples at the beach, and I’ve been published a few times, including here and here. I found my passion for art while growing up surrounded by horses in a small town in Brazil. The shapes, textures, and colors of the horses always have been inspiring to me. I’ve always wanted to recreate them, but was never really able to. Honestly, my painting/drawing skills were and still are terrible, and that’s when photography came up in my life. I would create imaginary cameras out of my toys and would ‘photograph’ the horses and my neighbors. Photographing people became my passion and then evolved into my work in editorial and wedding photography.

As my Instagram bio says, I'm a country girl by birth, a city girl by choice and a photographer by obsession. I grew up on a farm in a small Midwestern town, but have lived in New York City for over 25 years. As a photographer I say I'm self-taught, but in reality I've had the benefit of amazing mentors and teachers along the way who helped me elevate my work and pursue joy along with results. When not making photos or hanging out with my husband and kids, you can find me with a book in hand or listening to music while indulging my love of textiles at my sewing machine (yes, I really own a sewing machine)!
