Venue considerations

There were quite a bit of rules and miscommunications along the way. This made the experience, especially during the end of the engagement season and the actual wedding day a bit dramatic and exhausting. However, this could be avoided if every single detail is ironed out from the very beginning and you are giving consistent reminders of what you're anticipating your day to be like. Overall, the venue is gorgeous and every single area of it is grounds for awesome photo-ops. On a gorgeous day, you will absolutely not regret choosing this location. Not only is it super affordable, but they also give you the freedom to pick your other vendors to create your ideal wedding (as almost everything else is kind of "a la carte"). A bonus is that you get the whole grounds on your wedding day, so that's exciting for you and your guests!

Crystal Plaza

5.0

Livingston, NJ
  • Up to 350 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $40,000

Before it became our beloved event venue, the historic Crystal Plaza was originally a residential mansion. The initial Livingston, New Jersey-based residence was built in the late 1800s by famed architect Stanford White, who was responsible for designing the Tiffany building on Fifth Avenue, the original Madison Square Garden complex among other landmark structures. While the restored building has since been reincarnated as one of the leading wedding and event spaces in the tri-state area, it still maintains the feeling of its 19th century grandeur. Our impeccable, white-glove service begins the moment you arrive. Crystal Plaza hosts only one event at a time, ensuring that our dedicated team focuses singularly on you and your every need. From the elegant Grand Ballroom boasting numerous chandeliers (how the Crystal Plaza name came to be) to the lush gardens that change beautifully with the seasons, there are myriad backdrops to complement your wedding, social affair or corporate event.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Allows pets
  • Combines timeless elegance with history
  • Provides setup and cleanup

Venue considerations

  • On-site parking not available
  • No on-site guest accommodations
  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists
Awarded Best of Zola
I cannot say enough wonderful things about our winter wedding at Crystal Plaza and the incredible team of warm and dedicated staff. While wedding planning can certainly bring on the stress, our wedding planning process with Max and his team was not only enjoyable, but FUN! His professional expertise, honesty, and attention to detail was invaluable and beyond appreciated. This is not your average wedding culinary experience. It's obvious Crystal Plaza cares deeply about cuisine and we were blown away by every bite and sip. Our guests have not stopped raving about the culinary experience and the unique presentations of food and drink. The Penthouse and Vault (where the bride/groom/bridal party/groomsmen get ready) is out of this world. There is no other venue with this level of accommodation for both the bride and groom. It was so much fun treating the bridal party to a morning of pampering and having the groomsmen be just as excited about getting ready in the morning was incredible. They won't stop talking about the golf simulator and cigar lounge. I cannot recommend Crystal Plaza enough. 5 STARS ALL AROUND!

We got married at The Mansion on Aug 10th and there are insufficient characters in this review box to capture our gratitude for what an impeccable place this was to get married. We initially chose the venue for ease of the location (we live a few blocks away). I hoped the food would be good, since we couldn't do a tasting, and just trusted it would all work out. THESE PEOPLE BLEW ME AWAY. The staff is awesome, from the Matre D, to the Bridal Attendant, to all the ways Jim and Nancy helped us tend to ever detail of the event, it was the most perfect day. The food was so delicious. Our guests are still talking to us about it weeks later. The cocktail hour was incredible. The main course was the best piece of meat I've ever had in my life. Everything was so fresh, and so delicious. My only regret of my wedding was that I didn't eat more than just a few bites of everything. I woke up the next morning craving the rest of my filet mignon, lol. We went with the "minimum" of everything included because we were on a budget, but it was all so abundant, generous and tasty. Even the dessert platters that came with the meal were amazingly delicious. The space itself is luxurious and beautiful. We had the whole venue to ourselves and the whole thing was just magical.

On our special day, the staff was exceptional, the food was delicious and served promptly, and the cocktail hour was filled with all our selected dishes, while the bar staff efficiently managed the crowd. They also have a fantastic selection of preferred vendors! Our event coordinator, Kristian, along with Maitre'Ds Brenda and Brandon, were simply outstanding! Their communication, both via email and on the day itself, was seamless. Everything unfolded even better than I had envisioned! I did encounter a decor hiccup with the arch behind my sweetheart table, which my husband had crafted. On the wedding day, I was trying to adjust it when Brenda noticed my struggle. She immediately stepped in, reassured me, and took charge of the situation. Thanks to her, the arch turned out beautifully, just as I had hoped, and I was so relieved! I truly don’t know what I would have done without her help. Choosing DCI for our wedding was the best decision we could have made, and our day was absolutely flawless! We wholeheartedly recommend them!

Waterloo Village is a truly magical venue, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience there. We first visited for a wedding and were immediately captivated by the rustic charm and historic atmosphere. After seeing how seamlessly everything ran that day, we knew it was the perfect place for our own wedding. The staff at Waterloo Village is outstanding—extremely friendly, helpful, and refreshingly low-pressure. They genuinely focus on making your day special without pushing you to spend beyond your budget. Their professionalism and warmth made the planning process enjoyable and stress-free. One of the highlights is their catering partner, JAM. Their commitment to farm-to-table dining is evident in every dish. Many of the ingredients are sourced fresh, some even from their urban garden, which adds a special touch. The food is not only fresh but absolutely delicious. Megan, the director, is an absolutely dream to work with. quick responses, explains everything clearly, a sweetheart. Hotel is super clean, the food is amazing and the staff were lovely. The Maitre De went missing a lot throughout the day, to the point where my uncle had to find her whenever i needed. They set up & cleaned everything up for us which was lovely. the hotel bar stayed open late (sunday wedding) but you couldn’t make it private. so you had people at the bar trying to add to an open tab. you get a room block, the director of rooms Rebecca is very easy to work with as well. the outdoor ceremony space is gorgeous!!! We got married at the Picnic House in April 2024 and had a great experience! It's a beautiful space that you can do a lot with. We really appreciated both having both the flexibility of choosing amongst a variety of vendors, as well as the assurance that given their experience with the venue that they'd be easy to work with day of (which was true- we had a very smooth wedding day!). We really appreciated working with Caity, who was very responsive over email and quick to pick up the phone. Our only struggle was in acquiring our parking passes (that was really the mail's fault) and in getting some answers early on regarding external alcohol policies. And I would say be very careful in selecting your caterer, since they'll make or break your experience. But overall I would absolutely recommend the Picnic House to anyone! The price really can't be beat for what you're getting.

We had the pleasure of hosting our wedding at Rutherfurd Hall earlier this year, and we can't speak highly enough of the experience. From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The venue itself is breathtaking—elegantly designed with gorgeous views, and it has an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and intimate. It was everything we dreamed of and more. Especially when we had a lot of challenges finding a venue for an Indian wedding to fit all your needs! A huge part of what made our day so unforgettable was the incredible service provided by the Director, Nick Serraino. From our very first meeting, Nick went above and beyond to ensure all your requests were accepted. He was incredibly kind, and always available to answer questions (which we had many of) or offer help! His professionalism and warm personality made the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. We can’t thank him and his team enough!
