High on a bluff towering over the James River, this exquisite Georgian Revival offers 16,000 square feet of opulence, built by Taylor and Parrish Construction from 1981-1987. This stately Georgian features an upper brick promenade surrounded by a limestone balustrade and opens to a double curved staircase to the lower terrace. The mansion's interior boasts extravagant architectural embellishment. Marble floors, ornamental cornices, plaster friezes, 18-foot columns with gilded Corinthian capitals, and custom crystal chandeliers please the eye from the onset. A Jeffersonian pool house with a hexagonal raised dome presides over a circular pool with bluestone terraces and a limestone balustrade. MeadowCroft Farm has been a working family farm for 7 generations. Located just outside of Staunton, Virginia in the rural community of Swoope (pronounced Swope). It is named after Jacob Swoope, the first mayor of Staunton and a land developer in the late 1700s. MeadowCroft Farm is situated in southwestern Augusta County, in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. We are just a short five-mile drive from the Interstate I-81 and I-64 Staunton bypass. The renovations and updates to the adjoining cabins were completed in 2018. The Inn at MeadowCroft opened to delight guests with this beautiful, historic property. Our rooms are named after members of the Swoope family in keeping with the history of the inn and the local area.
