In the 1950s & 60s, The Bronx was home to an amazing photographer that captured weddings and family events. His name? Warren Meurer aka the “Silverfox” (due to his flowing silver and gray locks). Fast forward to the early 1990s, Warren’s grandson, John Salkowsky, decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and open a wedding photography and video studio. When it came time to name this newly formed company, there was only ONE name it could possibly have – Silverfox Studios.

I grew up in Texas and married a beautiful brown-eyed Jersey girl on a mountaintop in the Hudson Valley. I have the greatest job in the world. I’m lucky enough to witness tears of joy, celebrations of life and the continuation of family legacies on a weekly basis. I've been in love with the art of photography for as long as I can remember, and I'm truly blessed to be able to pursue my passion every day. Growing up all over the world (Sweden, India, and Denmark to name a few!), my love of photography grew from my desire to capture the places and people I wanted to remember the most. I did not not grow up with a camera in my hand knowing I wanted to be a photographer. I started with photography by photographing Punk/Hardcore bands but eventually stopped photographing those shows because I didn't want my camera gear to get broken by someone stagediving. Being apart of that music scene help me cultivate friendships with people all over the world, and gave me lots of travel opportunities. Those experiences carried over into weddings helping me understand real documentary style moments and being comfortable surrounded by new people.

My passion for photography started at a very young age. Polaroid,Kodak, disposable cameras anything I could get my hands on for as long as I can remember. After working for several years in photojournalism and editing I decided to make the switch to a full time wedding photographer in 2010. I haven’t looked back since. I love the rush and excitement of the wedding day. The ability to meet new people and travel new places. Every weekend I get to experience different families, friends, foods and cultures.
