How We Met

Thanks, Mizzou.

We were both hired as tour guides for our university (though Will was hired FIRST, as he loves to remind me). We spent months giving tours together, making fun of each other's lame jokes at various parts on the tour. We ate lunch at the dining halls together nearly every day after work, and, eventually, Will worked up the courage to ask me out. He took me on a picnic to my favorite park in Columbia where he had taken notes from my friends and prepared all of my favorite foods. It was the best date ever.

When We Knew This Was The Real Deal

Thanks, Chicago & Tour Team

Her Story: A few months into dating, we were hanging around Columbia, MO on a Friday night with nothing to do. Will randomly suggested we drive to Chicago for the weekend (7 hours!!) to visit our friend, Ali. Next thing I know, we're driving down Lakeshore Drive figuring out what we should do all weekend. Since it so was last minute, Ali had plans with her family almost all weekend. So, we spent the next three days running all over Chicago, kayaking down the river, visiting breweries, walking around the city, and cheering on the Phillies (solely because they were playing against the Cubs that weekend). It was the most fun I'd ever had. It was so easy for us to travel together, and we had fun no matter what we were doing. It was this weekend that I realized how special this guy was. His story: I think I knew Rachel was the one for me before I was even on her radar. (Rachel doesn't even remember meeting me for the first time. Shows how far I've come.) We first met after Rachel got hired as a tour guide. I was already on the staff as one of the "veteran guides." After tours, all the tour guides would meet at Plaza 900 (Mizzou's best dining hall) to eat a free lunch. It just so happened the first time we met, all of the other tour guides could not stay for lunch, so it was just Rachel and me. I like to think of it as our first date. Rachel has no recollection of it. That's the lunch I decided I wasn't going to graduate without dating Rachel. Thus began the infamous multiple month courtship. When we first started talking, I wanted to hang out with her, but we didn't exactly run in the same circles, so I had to get creative. I started signing up for the same tours she was working and going to her usual bars so I could "run into her". Finally, after many months of trying to get Rachel's attention, I finally won her over, and the rest is history.
