Back in 2010 at their lovely McHenry East High School, they both decided to take on the challenge of learning a new language. They ended up not only being in the same Spanish class, but sitting nearby each other also. They both took notice off each other in class, but Katelyn made the first move as she wished Cody a happy birthday to break the ice. From there the conversations grew, but the feelings for each other grew faster. And they never stopped growing.
They were in Arizona for a friend's wedding, with a week full of adventures and fun planned out. Wedding activities in Phoenix, back-country camping in Sedona, hiking Grand Canyon National Park, and Antelope Canyon Tours in Page. Cody had been praying and planning on the idea of proposing, and with the blessing from Katelyn's parents, Arizona was the perfect place to do it. There were so many great places to propose in the beautiful Arizona landscape, but no place greater than underneath a rock formation in Antelope Canyon called "The Heart". When they came to this formation on the tour, Cody snuck behind Katelyn as she pointed her camera upwards to snap a picture of its beauty, only to realize he was down on one knee and ready to give her his own heart. She couldn't believe it and exclaimed "Yes!" Let the journey to marriage begin!
They chose the month of May (originally) because of their families. How better to solidify a marriage of two young hearts than to get married in the same month that two other marriages of young couples happened, the marriage of their wonderful parents. We are beyond excited to see everyone and celebrate this chapter of our lives together!
