Please plan to arrive by 7:00pm to give yourself time to get settled and enjoy the hospitality station. There will be live musicians playing in the lobby and small snacks and wine available upon your arrival. Our ushers will assist you in getting to the ceremony space, which is just past the main lobby, when the ceremony is going to begin.
Our suggested dress code is "Festive Cocktail," but we'll be happy to see you in whatever you choose to wear! Accessorizing with sparkles, silver, gold, and anything New Year's Eve themed is encouraged, and we'll have NYE accessories at the reception to share. If you don't already have clothes that fit this dress code, don't feel obligated to find something new just for us - we'd love to celebrate with you in any outfit! If you want more guidance or have no idea where to start, think cocktail attire but with a little extra holiday flair. Remember that this is New Year's Eve in New York, so there is no such thing as "too much"! We don't have any specific color requirements and no color is off-limits, so wear whatever makes you feel your best!
If you would like to bring cash to tip the valet, bartenders, or coat check, that would be the only reason to bring cash to this event. All services, food, and drinks throughout the wedding and reception are completely complimentary. The bar will be open and serving complimentary drinks from 8pm until 1:30am. Keep in mind that if you plan on traveling into Manhattan, most transportation options, site-seeing activities, shops, and restaurants take cards but some street vendors may be cash only.
Expect to be surrounded by a LOT of food and drink all night long! Definitely pace yourself so that you can properly enjoy each aspect of the event! Upon your arrival, before the ceremony, there will be light refreshments. The ceremony will last about 30 minutes and then we'll move into cocktail hour where you will see 4 Hors d'oevres stations, appetizers traveling around, and an open bar. Next will be dinner where you can order your main course from a selection of 10 different options! The bar will remain open for you to order cocktails, wine, and beer throughout dinner and until 1:30am! After dinner, we will have dessert and, of course, the cake! We will dance, enjoy each others' company, and celebrate the new year with the NYC Ball Drop and a Champagne toast! Festivities will continue until 1:30am when the event ends.
Our event will be completely indoors with outdoor spaces available for anyone who needs a smoke break or fresh air, so you can plan to be comfortable in whatever you wear. There will be a complimentary coat check right when you enter our venue and you'll be able to grab your coat and return it to the coat check as you please, any time during the night if you want to step outside for a few minutes. We can't say for certain exactly what the weather will be. Sometimes, New York is a somewhat comfortable 40+ degrees Fahrenheit with clear skies; going into 2022, it was nearly 50 degrees here! Other years it can drop well below freezing or even into the negative numbers; in 1997 Times Square dropped to -21 degrees marking the coldest NYE on record! There could be rain, snow, wind, or it could be beautiful. If you are planning on doing any sightseeing or spending time outside, the best way to prepare is with layers and a comfy pair of shoes!
No need to pick an entrée in advance! Fox Hollow will provide a menu of 10 meal options and take orders once everyone is seated for dinner. Dinner options include: Filet Mignon, Roasted Stuffed Chicken, Duck al'Orange, North Atlantic Salmon, Red Snapper, Citrus Shrimp, Braised Pork Shank, Land & Sea (Petite Filet Mignon & Shrimp), Spinach & Cheese Cannelloni, and Mediterranean Trio (Grilled Zucchini, Eggplant Salad, & Stuffed Tomato). There are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options available and we will work to accommodate all dietary restrictions included in your RSVP.
We do have a gift registry that you can access on the Registry page of this site. Your support on our big day is gift enough, but if you feel so inclined, we have a honey moon fund available on our registry to help us save for our honey moon to the Dominican Republic. We are lucky to have most of the things that we need at this point in our lives, so our registry includes items that we would appreciate to help us support our hobbies and interests including our growing collection of vinyl records, new toys and scratchers for our cat Andy, and our newfound interest in wine-tasting. Off-registry items are also welcome!
All of our guests are invited to all aspects of the night! We hope you will be able to join us for every portion including the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the dinner & reception! The RSVP page automatically populates certain information that it pulls from other portions of the site, but please know that you should arrive at 7:00pm and plan to stay through the entire evening if you are able. Each part of the night will take place in the same location - The Somerley at Fox Hollow. If you cannot join us for certain parts of the night or need to leave early due to other commitments or personal needs, we completely understand and hope to see you for as long as you are able to make it!
We currently have blocks of rooms available at a few local hotels for you to book between now and November 2023! Please be aware that the on-site hotel, Fox Hollow, has extremely limited availability at this time. To book your room, check out our Lodging and Travel page or call either hotel and let them know you are attending the Attanasio/ Furlong wedding! There are a number of various hotels and lodging options in the Woodbury/ Syosset/ Huntington areas, so feel free to book rooms where you will be most comfortable based on your preferences, transportation, and budget. Our "Lodging & Travel" page on this site provides a few different options that we have identified in the area.
Yes! There is no age limit to this event. It is totally up to you if you want to bring your kids or arrange for them to stay home. Please keep in mind that this will be an evening event on New Year's Eve scheduled to go until 1:30am with an open bar. Based on the nature of the event, we completely understand that not everyone will feel comfortable bringing children. That decision is absolutely up to you as you know your family best and we trust your judgment! At this time, we are not planning to provide childcare at the event or offer a separate space for children. Our venue is family-friendly and we can have high chairs available for you if necessary! Please feel free to check in with us if you are bringing your child and they will need additional accommodations (such as a high chair or child friendly meal). If your child is not specifically listed on your invitation or RSVP page, please reach out to John or Alex so that we can confirm that they are included in our guest list and seating chart.
To double check if your partner is on our list, go to the RSVP page and type in their first and last name to view and respond to their RSVP. If you get the message, "Hm... we can't find your name. Make sure you enter your name exactly as it appears on your invitation." just reach out to us! It is possible that we don't have the correct spelling or that we missed them on our list, but we are always happy to adjust names or add people as necessary, assuming we have the space!
We will miss you, but completely understand if you are not able to attend! If you want to see us to celebrate or catch up, just reach out! John and Alex currently live together on Long Island where we love to host visitors! If you are in the NY area, we're always happy to hop on a train and meet up in or near the city! If you're further away, we always love an excuse to travel or the opportunity to host friends and loved ones out here on LI! If traveling isn't an option for you right now, FaceTime and Zoom make it easy to stay in contact no matter where you are!
At this time we are not requiring guests to wear masks or provide proof of vaccination to attend our wedding. We encourage loved ones to be vaccinated if possible and follow all mask-wearing guidelines on public transportation when travelling. At this time, public transportation in NYC and on Long Island do not require masks. As of March 2022, Nassau County's mask mandate requiring masks in public spaces was no longer in effect. Fox Hollow does not require masking, but recommends that unvaccinated guests remain masked in all public spaces.
