Ed Hafizov is a creative director and lead photographer of Zorz Studios, Manhattan-based boutique photography studio, offering alluring and daring fashion, commercial, beauty, and wedding photography.     Surprise Elopement

    We booked Ed of Zorz Studios to celebrate my husband's surprise retirement/birthday party. We then turned the surprise on our guests, and revealed that we had recently eloped. The party featured a live brass band and New Orleans style second line parade. Ed was able to capture the lively spirit of our celebration shooting both indoors and outdoors on the rooftop space of our condo building. He was communicative and collaborative during the entire process. Ed is a professional and talented photographer and the nicest guy. I would highly recommend for any event!

    The best of the best!!

    If we could, we’d give him an infinite amount of stars because he deserves it! For starters, when my now husband and I were looking for a photographer, we were looking for someone who would capture our vision. Something outside of the ordinary and completely non-traditional. We stumbled upon his website and work. Boy, Oh boy! I was left speechless. Each piece I saw of Zorz just told a story! A story of love, definition, purpose, and, most of all, happiness. They were vibrant yet moody. Exactly down my alley. I instantly told my husband... “He’s the guy!!’ So we booked him INSTANTLY! Fast-forward to the first photo shoot. To give you an idea of what I wanted, I wanted to capture a nontraditional engagement photoshoot that steered away from the typical wedding photos. We opted to trash the dress. (Full disclosure: to me, traditional weddings are overrated, and the prices of wedding dresses are a scam.) So I thought, "Let's get creative! Let’s trash the dress like a beautiful, vibrant disaster." We told Zorz, and he was FULLY on board. He understood the assignment and absolutely delivered it! (Please see attached photos) Forward further: Wedding day photos. -Breathe, MF taking!!!! (Excuse the profanity, but really captivating) I know when couples look back on their wedding day photos they become emotional. When I tell you it’s been a year later, and every photo Zorz took still makes me feel like the first time I saw them… Warm and filled with happy tears. He knows how to capture the moment as is- the true definition of “A picture is worth a thousand words” The man, the legend… Zorz: He was great to work with. He was patient, kind, respectful, and funny. He made us feel comfortable in our own skin and knew how to handle the stresses of the big day. Words are not enough to express how much we (I especially) appreciate the work he does. 1000/10 Don’t hesitate, book him!! I promise you, he will not disappoint!!

    Wedding photos

    My husband and I had a great experience working with Ed! My best friend also used him as a Wedding photographer & highly recommended him. We got married in 2020 during the Covid pandemic and decided to elope! Ed and his wife made it the perfect day and really helped to make the day special. I loved their creative take on the wedding photos as well as the awesome wedding video to songs we loved. We are based in NYC with a branch in the Poconos, and travelled to 32 states and 23 countries on assignments between Alaska and India. A shoot in upstate New York, the Hamptons, Philadelphia, Delaware Water Gap, or Washington, DC is local to us! You can take us anywhere, even in questionable places (in fact, Ed is always aching for those). Comfort, safety, and distance are not of primary concern. Yes, and the scope was mentioned in the previous answer. Weddings in the Caribbean within a 3-hr flight don't quite feel like a destination anymore after working in Europe, Middle East, and South Asia. And, we are low-maintenance so bringing us there will not break the bank. See the next question.
Local assignments: we do not charge any transportation fee within Manhattan while for the outer boroughs, Greater New York, and tri-state area we bill for all travel-related expenses such as gas, tolls, parking, cabs, or other fares. We cannot pre-add them to the packages as they vary greatly and would not be fair to those who are too local to pay them at all. Yes, especially if you can act naturally. A funny thing happens when those wanting to look natural are asked to act natural... They freeze and look lost. They stare and ask: "Eh... what do we do?" Then they start making awkward moves... Very few can act naturally without a photographer, so however you are appalled by the word "posed", you will likely benefit from our direction and posing. It's the art of making the poses look natural and not as directed if you prefer.
For weddings, booking early is key. Since the date can't move, waiting risks us being unavailable. Most couples secure us 1–2 years in advance to lock in their date. Once you're booked, we're fully committed and won’t take on other events that day. Your day is our priority, and we treat it with the dedication it deserves.
Assistants or apprentices may join me on more complex shoots, but they don’t come by default—I bring them at my discretion when extra hands are helpful. If you'd like a second professional photographer for expanded coverage (such as for weddings or large events), that can absolutely be arranged for an additional fee.
Definitely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer Enhanced retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge, but a limited number of such edits is included with most packages. Yes, absolutely! We offer dynamic, cinematic video coverage for weddings, mitzvahs, portraits, and events. Portrait sessions are typically ready in 1–2 weeks. If your shoot is being featured on our blog, it may take 2–4 weeks. For weddings, expect your online proof gallery within 2–4 weeks. You will get them all, except for test shots, accidental duplicates, missed-focus, and unrecoverable faulty shots which are deleted during the initial revision (culling). While we don't cap ourselves, we normally don't "spray and pray" as less experienced photographers may do. We shoot very selectively, either taking our time building up and developing a shot prior to pressing the shutter, or watching an action closely from the ambush, ready to snipe that shot at the right moment. We are after quality, not quantity. A very rough estimate is 50-100 photos per hour.
Yes, we are covered by a $2,000,000 liability insurance required by many venues for working on their premises. Certificate of Insurance will be provided to the venue upon request. Since it takes time for the insurance company to prepare a venue-specific certificate, it must be requested at least two weeks in advance. If you do not inquire with the venue in advance and we are asked for it days before the event we may not not have it ready, and the venue may not allow us in.
In my 20 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booked wedding. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
