“Stone Garden is a country house on a residential road sitting on the Connecticut River. However, when you visit there you get an idea of the beauty of the site. The apple trees next to the outdoor bar, the ceremony site overlooking the river with a mountain in the background, and the semi-permanent barn structure with clear sides all make the site a place to remember. The lights in the apple trees make a beautiful background at night. The DJ's uplights made the semi-permanent structure shine. All of this combines to make a venue that will last in memory as one of the most beautiful around. Frank and Kristin were very communicative throughout the whole planning process. Both Laurel and Livia helped keep all the details in line on the day of. Everything went smoothly the day of our wedding, and if it didn't, we didn't know about it. If you want a beautiful venue for your event, take a good look at Stone Garden.”

In 2011 we purchased an old dairy farm in a quiet corner of Harrisville, New Hampshire. We cleared fields, planted orchards and gardens, built barns and a commercial kitchen, boiled maple syrup, raised pigs and sheep, and opened a farm store. Our goal was to create a thriving farm that would serve our family, the community, and visitors like you. Today, that dream is a reality. Mayfair Farm offers a complete special events package that is truly unique. With our inspiring views, welcoming barn, and farm-to-table menu, your family and friends will share a one-of-a-kind experience. Our menu is hand-crafted and ethically produced, and each item is made with the most important ingredient—love. And, as our client, you will enjoy the benefits of flexibility and collaboration as we guide you through each step of the event-planning process. If you can think it up, we would love to help you make it happen. We look forward to sharing our farm with you! Sarah Heffron and Craig Thompson

“The Perfect Combination of Beauty, Comfort, and Efficiency We were married at Mayfair Farm on Labor Day weekend 2025. We had about 130 guests. We had many requirements regarding food, drink, comfort of guests, the ceremony, and meals. It’s hard to imagine a host with greater caring, talent, taste, and efficiency than Sarah, the owner. Everything was perfect, even beyond perfect, like a dream! Facility: Mayfair Farm is a beautiful venue. The custom-designed barn was perfect for dining, dancing, serving, and preparation. The firepit right outside the barn made for memorable gatherings, especially on a chilly evening, and with the fun of preparing S’more’s for the guests over the fire. The scenery is gorgeous, particularly the top-of-the-hill ceremony spot surrounded by New Hampshire hills and mountains. The gorgeous view and natural setting added much to the wedding experience. The short walk up the hill to the ceremony hilltop was easy, and elderly guests were driven up without any issue. The barn and farm have professional kitchens so that preparing and serving a meal for 130 people went off without any issues. There was plenty of parking for guests. There is an AirBnB on-site where we stayed and got ready. It was comfortable and great for the hair/make-up preparations before the ceremony. Sarah made her entire facility available to us for the entire weekend—this made things highly convenient and relaxing. For meals, they helped us arrange for a beautiful tent to be set up right outside the barn, so we could use the barn for dancing. The table set-up was gorgeous, which contributed to a memorable, emotionally touching event. Planning: Sarah is a total professional, with the taste and experience to make our event as perfect as we had hoped for. Interacting with Sarah was a pleasure. She is kind, creative, and deeply cares about our hopes for the day and making them come to fruition. She made terrific suggestions on logistics and food, and was creative and responsive in iterating until we finalized the menus. She specializes in farm-to-table food, with local farmers, and this made everything healthy and delicious. She assisted us with vendors (e.g., flowers, tent, wedding planner, bartender, toilets) who provided excellent services. Sarah has a staff of efficient, trusted people who know just what to do, while at the same time exuding warmth and friendship while working. Whatever tension might be present on a wedding day, these workers diffused it and made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. This is huge and played a big role in the perfection of our wedding weekend. Day-of Excellence: All of the above contributed to a wedding weekend that seemed effortless for us and our guests, and of course we saw and understood the tremendous amount of teamwork, talent, and effort went on behind the scenes. We felt relaxed, as did our parents and guests. We all enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere and the meaningful, beautiful gathering, ceremony, and celebration. Bottom Line: Mayfair Farm and Sarah provide a specialized offering unlike any other, and at a reasonable price. If you want a wedding in a rural setting, with farm-to-table food prepared to perfection, and a flawless, relaxed ‘vibe’ to the day, look no further. The bonus is that we felt cared for, we saw our vision come to life under Sarah’s supervision, and we saw Sarah’s employees and vendors enthusiastically and efficiently make everything happen perfectly. Highest recommendation.”

Ian and Bri went above and beyond to make our wedding dreams come true with such care and ease. Every single inch of Four Winds is gorgeous, you’ll have a hard time choosing where you want it all to happen! We also really appreciated the history and character of the barn, we barely had to decorate as the space was filled with memorabilia and fun details. It’s really the coolest spot. “My wife & I had the privilege to get married surrounded by our friends & family at the beautiful Montague Retreat Center in June of 2024. There’s a seemingly endless list of what drew us to MRC, but some key features to highlight: - Incredibly beautiful indoor & outdoor spaces - Comfortable, spacious, and accessible on-site lodging options - Flexible weekend buyout, enabling us to bring all of our ideas to life without much restriction or hurdles - Wheelhouse Catering: some of the best wedding food we’ve ever tasted in our lives - All of Montague staff, especially Jason Jason deserves his own dedicated review, but from the planning stages all the way through until the end of our weekend, Jason made himself available and ready to help. Jason referred several our vendors that made our day go off without a hitch, all of whom brought creative and personal touches that made our day so special. He consistently went above and beyond day of as well, from catching decorations that needed to be put out, to being hands-on assisting guests that needed extra help, and facilitating vendors to ensure everything was in its right place. His knowledge and general presence brought a calming energy that really helped us feel at home at MRC. For our wedding weekend (170 guests), we really took advantage of all we could at MRC. We observed first hand and heard from guests after our wedding that they felt they had plenty of space to enjoy themselves comfortably through the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. With the full weekend rented, we used every square inch that the venue offered: - Friday: Portable Brick Oven Pizza in front of the Great Hall - Saturday AM: family provided breakfast buffet near the dining tent - Ceremony: Outdoor up on the ceremony ring - Cocktail Hour: Custom Poetry and plenty of activities all around the barn - Reception: Live band with stage lighting & sound; DJ later in the evening - Saturday Night: Late night fire pit & snacks for the wedding party - Sunday AM: Bagel sandwiches from Tandem Bagel in the lower level of the barn We can’t stress enough how perfect our weekend was at MRC. Montague Retreat Center will always hold a special place in our hearts, as it left a lasting impact on not only us, but our friends and family as well. At the end of our wedding weekend, many of our family members suggested that we rent out the space for a night every few years for a recurring big family bash. We may have to do just that!”

“Mount Snow has been a special place for our families and for us as a couple for many years, and to be able to tie the knot there was absolutely magical. We had our guests stay at the Grand Summit and shuttled them over to Carinthia for the ceremony and reception, and Harriman’s restaurant back at the hotel was an epic spot for our amazing afterparty and farewell brunch. Communicating with Vail Resorts was sometimes difficult and not always helpful, and this is a testament to how special a small-town Vermont ski resort is. Once we got a hold of someone from the mountain (that is, non-Vail), all of our questions were answered, from lodging for guests to F&B questions. On the day of the wedding, everything went amazing. People loved the food and the service all weekend long and could not stop raving about the FUN. We were able to have all that FUN because of Mount Snow’s amazing team doing all the behind the scenes work and making it all go smoothly. Even getting us and our wedding party up the Bluebird Express in dresses and high heels! Overall, this day was magical, and we are so fortunate Mount Snow got to be our private playground for an entire weekend. Special shoutout to Brian U of the F&B Team and the front desk gals at the Grand Summit. Y’all are amazing!!! Lots of love! We 3 Snow!”

“We chose The Colonial Hotel for both our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, ceremony, and reception, and we're so glad we did. From our first conversation with their team, communication was straightforward and quick—they answered every question we had without any confusion. What really impressed us was how they went above and beyond what we asked for. They added beautiful decor to our rehearsal dinner space, created a personalized menu, and made sure our guests were fed and happy throughout the night. One staff member even followed us around to check in, and later packed up leftover food and stored it in our room fridge without us asking. These little touches weren't expected, but they made a real difference in how special our day felt. We rented the salon to get ready and it was nice to have the space. The whole experience was amazing and their attention to detail helped everything run smoothly from start to finish.”

“We truly cannot say enough wonderful things about The Hermitage Inn and their wedding planners, Gina & Taylor. From start to finish, everything was exactly as we had imagined, and that is entirely thanks to their dedication and genuine care for making our day perfect. It's been almost 3 months and we're still absolutely obsessed with every moment and would not have changed a single thing. From our first call, Gina was so kind and informative and truly a joy to work with. She made the entire process feel effortless. She answered every question with thoughtfulness, and her advice throughout was invaluable. We were so grateful for her organization, calm presence, guidance, and the genuine care she showed us throughout the process. And the venue itself is stunning..the grounds, the inn, the food, the scenery, all of it. And The Hermitage Inn team executed every detail flawlessly. But what truly set our experience apart was how special and cared for we felt as a couple. Every single person there was just SO NICE! It didn't feel like just another wedding to them, it felt uniquely like our wedding, and the staff plus Gina & Taylor made sure it felt that way every step of the way. We feel so lucky that we got to have this experience. We are foodies, so on the food specifically...we still dream about it and our guests still talk about it. While not the big dinner, the housemade chips served at lunch alone are worth talking about. Overall, some of the best food we've had. We can't wait to go back. In fact, several guests have already booked their own stays at the Inn, and we look forward to doing the same. We will be talking about this day for many, many years to come. Not to sound cliché, but truly, if you're looking for a venue where the team genuinely makes you feel special and goes well above and beyond, book at The Hermitage Inn.”

“Hartmans herb farm is a beautiful venue, Carissa was very easy to communicate with and we had a perfect wedding day! The food is excellent and we loved our cake. We also loved staying at the Inn for the weekend, we were able to set up on Friday and pack everything up on Sunday, Saturday felt relaxed and fun. We never felt rushed or stressed. There’s a lot to see at the venue, lots of different options for where to take pictures! You need minimal decorations because the venue is so pretty.”

“I cannot say enough positive things about the Rosewood Country Inn as a wedding venue. This venue is special in that you get the entire 11-room inn for the weekend (Fri-Sun), and so we were able to have our closest friends and family staying with us, which was a blast! The inn offers a beautiful country setting on the outside that is perfect for an outdoor ceremony. We held ours at the gazebo in the courtyard, which was surrounded by beautiful trees and scenery that make for gorgeous pictures. The dining hall of the inn hosts the reception, and is perfect for an intimate and stylish dining experience that then morphs a dance floor! The food is excellent (Stan's stuffed french toast can't be missed), not only for the reception but the rehearsal dinner and breakfasts on Sat and Sun. Stan and Odo are extremely kind and gracious hosts, who let us make our wedding truly our own!”

Gloriosa & Co.at the Curtis House
Rating: 5.0 (2 reviews)
Ashfield, MA
  • Up to 140 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $18,600

We plan, arrange, and cater events—weddings, bat and bar mitzvahs, showers, reunions, small gatherings, memorial services or anything you can think of, indoors or outdoors. We host events here at the Curtis House, our 1850s Dutch Colonial. The summer home of George William Curtis, then the editor of Harpers Weekly. It’s a charming, sprawling old house that abuts the town green. During warmer months events take place in our gardens and the fully restored late 19th century barn. Whatever you imagine for your event, we're here to help you realize your dreams. We'll help you every step of the way, from planning and budgeting to coordinating the day. We open our home to you and take away all the stress of planning your dream day. We want to make your day about who you are.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Unique barn setting
  • Exudes old-world charm
  • Has a relaxed and casual vibe

Venue considerations

  • Does not allow pets
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Not for you if you prefer a more modern aesthetic
“I cannot speak highly enough about our experience hosting our wedding at The Curtis House by Gloriosa & Co. My husband and I got married a couple of weeks ago (September 2024) and our wedding was truly one the happiest, best days of our lives thanks to the love and personalization that Gloria and Emma put into planning and executing our day. We were drawn to so many things about the venue, including the charming setting of Ashfield, the rustic but modernized aesthetic of the barn, the beautiful gardens and greenhouse, and the house being an available space to get ready. We were also drawn to the convenience and uniqueness of being able to provide our floral arrangements from Gloria’s greenhouse and gardens on-site, and having all of the food and beverages taken care of through the venue’s catering and bar team. But what made us decide to book this venue for our special day was the attention that Gloria and Emma give each couple. This venue is not your typical wedding factory that puts on weddings multiple times a week, every week of the year; Gloria and Emma host between 12-15 weddings per year and consequently each couple they work with gets full access to the venue the weekend of their wedding and so much guidance during the planning process. We were able to cultivate a vegetarian menu consisting of so many of our favorite foods plus a number of signature dishes of the venue, such as a butternut squash galette that was a crowd favorite. Sustainability is also incredibly important to us as a couple, and Gloria and Emma are committed to sourcing only local, seasonal ingredients for the food and florals and minimizing waste, which meant so much to us. In terms of decor and furnishings, the venue has so much available for couples to use, such as tables, chairs, ceremony benches, several wedding arches to choose from, displays for food or guest favors, tableware, candles, string lights, and more. We did not have to rent or coordinate anything other than the few DIY projects we made, which Gloria and Emma effortlessly integrated into the set up for us. Being able to take care of practically everything through Gloria and Emma made planning so much simpler. On the wedding day, Gloria, Emma, and their team handled the venue set up in a few hours, which happened like a choreographed dance that required practically no work from us or our wedding parties other than providing input and approval along the way. Everything went extremely smoothly and we were able to be fully present. After our ceremony, my husband and I returned to the house, where Gloria had set up champagne and a spread of our hors d'oeuvres for us to enjoy over a few minutes of privacy, which is something she had recommended we do as we took in the moment together. Our guests have had nothing but positive things to say about our wedding and it was clear the day of how much fun everyone had. We have received so many compliments about how beautiful and authentic the venue was, how exquisite Gloria’s floral arrangements were, how delicious all of the food was (even the heavy meat-eaters loved the vegetarian menu), and how this will be a wedding they will always remember. Gloria made us feel like part of her family and we were so happy to be able to support her business. We truly could not have asked for a more memorable, personalized, loving, and beautiful wedding, and hope that many other couples have the pleasure of getting married at this special place.”

Her quick thinking and preparedness in that unexpected situation really highlighted her dedication and care. Throughout the entire process, Lauryn’s communication and attention to detail were remarkable. “If you’re looking for classic New England inn charm that feels like a cross between a Nancy Meyers movie and Gilmore Girls, look no further. When we first started wedding planning, the sheer volume of decisions—from transportation to catering—felt completely overwhelming. The Inn on Boltwood made our lives so much easier; they truly are the perfect venue. We loved that the Inn is essentially an all-inclusive venue. Between the on-site catering, rehearsal space, coordination support, and the ability to stay at the property, it eliminated the stress of managing a dozen different vendors and travel logistics. From our very first viewing, we knew it was the place for us. Our wedding coordinator, Catherine, could not have been a better human to work with. She never faltered; she is kind, creative, and a true expert at running a wedding. The food was UNREAL. Our guests are still raving about it, and the variety was fantastic. As a vegetarian bride, it was such a relief to have high-quality, delicious meal options rather than feeling like an afterthought pulled from the freezer. We hosted our rehearsal dinner on the rooftop terrace, which provided a beautiful, elevated backdrop for our family to kick off the weekend. We also loved that the Inn offers great hybrid solutions for weather. While we were fortunate enough to have a perfect day for an outdoor ceremony and tented reception, it gave us such peace of mind knowing there were seamless indoor options available if it had rained or become too hot. The Inn also gives full access for photos, and there are so many stunning locations for picture-perfect moments throughout the property! The space feels so intimate that it felt like we were hosting the wedding at our own home. Beyond the venue itself, the location in Amherst gave our guests wonderful opportunities to explore—the Saturday morning farmers market was a massive hit! With other hotel options just five minutes away and plenty of parking, it was incredibly convenient for everyone.”
