“Emie and her assistant Michael were fantastic! From our first meeting with Emie, she made sure that our wishes were heard and made sure that it was something she could capture. Through the planning process, she reassured us and continuously instilled confidence in us. On the day of our wedding, her and Michael were early and comforting. They did getting ready photos, our first look, bridal party photos, and family photos per our shot list. They were so knowledgable and paid great attention to the lighting and backdrop, having us change angles a few times to account for it. She coached us through poses and, most importantly, what to do with our hands. During the ceremony and reception, they both were able to capture shots that we had no idea they were even in position for! They also brought disposable cameras to the event for our guests to take candids throughout the night and we’re super excited to see how those turn out!  Additionally, they were very professional in handling relatives who wanted to take pictures on their own equipment throughout the day. They were so fun to work with, we highly recommend them to anyone looking for a photographer in the Albemarle area!”

Gabbie Burseth grew up documenting everything and saving mementos in empty Christmas boxes. After studying at the Grady School of Journalism at the University of Georgia, she discovered an affinity for weddings and their accompanying treasures. Her philosophy as a wedding photographer is to observe with as little interference as possible — no faking it, no do-overs, no “for the camera”. Her biggest desire is for couples to be present at their wedding, not stuck in a photoshoot. “For our wedding experience, my husband and I were looking for a photographer that specialized in candids— someone who was focused on capturing natural moments versus the formal, posed ones. Gabbie delivered. She photographed our at-home engagement session, our typhoon-ridden wedding day, and threw in a post-wedding session for free due to circumstances out of our control on the wedding day. Our venue was not prepared for the day to be rained out, so there was minor chaos that I learned of after the fact. Gabbie and her second shooter never let on to any mishaps or miscommunications on the venue’s behalf and fought through the absolute freezing rain with us all day. We deeply cherish all of the photos she took… from us dancing together in the kitchen of our first home, to us bundled up under an umbrella, kissing in the rain after the ceremony, to priceless images of our friends and family breaking it down on the dance floor at the reception, and to the bridal portraits she took of us months after the wedding when she wasn’t satisfied with what we were able to get on the actual wedding day. We have nothing but great things to say about Gabbie and would highly recommend!”
