The outdoor terrace has beautiful party lights and allows the party to spill outside. There is also a 2 bedroom apartment that can be included to use as a bridal suite or to house the couple. The flexible space is set up with A/V and projector and comes with square tables that can be arranges in multiple ways. We had always wanted to move an old country church and renovate it into a living space. We found that historic churches do not come up for sale often and probably not acceptable to walk up and say “we want to buy your church”. The town of Navasota was founded in 1854 and the tracks brought the railroad by 1859. One of the first buildings built here was a hotel, built by Ms. Louisa Loftin. She was quite the ambitious widow for a woman during the late nineteenth century. Conflicting research shows the hotel was either built as early as 1860 or as late as 1876. She soon met and married P. A. Smith and the hotel bore his name. At first, the railroad brought a great number of patrons, but, unfortunately, the Civil War brought the economy of Navasota as well as the success of the hotel, down, after only a few years.

Windy Knoll is our family ranch. When my husband and I got engaged, we wanted nothing more than to get married at Windy Knoll. Rather than rent a tent for the occasion, my mom decided to build a wedding venue! The wood beams that make up the bones of the Wedding Barn were originally erected in the 1840s in Maryland. The original barn was the site of several battles during the Civil War, partially burned down, and rebuilt in the 1860s. A company called Heritage Restorations disassembled the beams and transported them all the way to Round Top, where they were reassembled and turned into the Wedding Barn.

The home started as a four room, story and a half house with a detached kitchen. Throughout the house, one can trace the outline of the original footprint by noticing the wide plank flooring in the parlor, formal dining room and library. During the civil war era the massive lawn, with huge oak and pecan trees, quickly became a favorite place for many young people in town for picnics and family gatherings. It is on these same grounds that we invite you and your loved ones to celebrate life’s memorable occasions.
