Ever since I was 7 years old, I told everyone that when I grew up I was going to be a chef. I grew up with that idea and never considered a back up plan. I pursued that dream and attended culinary school. Funnily enough, I never had much interest in baking. I wanted to be the chef and owner of a restaurant one day. After graduating and working in restaurants, I was crushed to see that a handful of places weren't sending out fresh, non frozen foods. So, I would go home and start baking, just for fun. Hello! My name is Ava. I’m a wife, mother to five and a cake and cookie artist. My grandma was a custom cake artist in NY for many years before she passed in 2018 so I grew up watching her create works of art. I would like to say that baking and creating runs in my blood and is not only a hobby of mines, but a true passion.

I hold a BS in Marketing and a BA in Business from DeSales University. I have trained with world-renowned sugar artists to expand my cake artistry skills. I am a national competitor with many awards for cake design as well as cake flavors, cupcake design, and cookie design. Over the years I have honed my craft into making beautiful and delicious custom cakes.

Clay’s Bakery opened its doors on October 1, 1990 by Bill and Denise Bones, alongside Denise’s mother Barbara Clark, who retired to Florida in 1997. To this day, the bakery is still owned and operated by the Bones family. The bakery was named in honor of Denise’s father Clayton Earl Clark, III who passed away the year before opening the shop. He was an Sergeant for the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, many of his brothers in blue continue to show their support for Denise and her family by visiting the bakery often.

My name is Naomi Acevedo and I am from the Enchanted Island of Puerto Rico. My husband and our sons came to Philadelphia, PA in 2015, 6 months after I got here. We came to get medical treatment and a better life for those two beautiful and sweet boys (until that time). We welcomed our Princess here, who was born in 2016. We officially started our business in 2018, but we have more than 15 years of experience in this sweet field. My mom used to bake cakes and treats and my father-in-law was a baker (we got his recipes). Here we are growing and expanding and incorporating more items into our menu.
