Cullen Creations

4.9

Stamford, NY

Cullen Creations is a wedding design company in The Catskills of New York. They are able to cover every aspect of your wedding vision from florals, to rentals, to set up and break down and more. The team at Cullen Creations only take on a limited amount of events per year to helps ensure each of their clients get the attention and care they deserve.

Where do I start? Heather was phenomenal to work with. She knows what she's talking about with EVERYTHING! We first hired her to do some florals, but ended up getting some other decor like floating floral vases, table runners, etc. She worked with our budget and had so much insight as to what to focus on, which areas to spend on, where we could cut back, etc. She listened! It's so hard to truly felt listened to sometimes, but she did it so well. She understood our vision including colors, types of flowers and overall feel for everything. We had an interesting situation occur with our wedding, where our original planner ended up not able to attend the wedding day. Heather stepped in to be our on-site coordinator and honestly, we couldn't have asked for anyone better. She had everything organized A to Z. She helped run the rehearsal, she decorated and set everything up that we dropped off and brought our vision to life! She decorated our cakes! The day of she helped everyone feel calm, directed vendors, spoke to vendors when problems occurred, used her judgement and discernment with the weather; she is a true professional. Her and her husband went above and beyond what we could have asked for with everything! My mom also gives them credit for "saving the day", as we had an elder guest that was unaccounted for. Heather's husband drove the country roads and found her driving lost and aimlessly and was able to get her to the venue which was a relief for everyone! If I did everything over, I'd hire Cullen Creations on day one and hire them to handle everything. You truly can trust them with all your needs and be assured that they help will make your day as perfect as it should be!

    VDL Brothers

    5.0

    Rhinebeck, NY
    • Starts at $3,500

VDL Brothers began as a farm with a single grower dreaming of providing locally grown, beautiful flowers. Now, we are bringing the produce of that farm to couples who are looking for fresh florals designed with a romantic, whimsical touch. We love to create soft, flowing bouquets, nature inspired arches, creative statement pieces and installations. We give each of our couples a high level of attention to detail, and dedicate our time to two events per month.

My wedding was last month and I am so BEYOND happy I chose VDL Brothers as my florist. Sonja is not only extremely talented but also attentive, reliable, supportive, and consistently went above and beyond to make my wedding flowers and decor special and personalized. My bouquet made me cry (happy tears) when I saw it. As did the boutonnières, wedding party flowers, and decor. Each bridesmaid bouquet, boutonniere and bud vase was unique and intricately done. She really listens to what you want and makes it a reality. During the early planning process she made a personalized event plan complete with my and her own inspiration pics, and kept it updated whenever I needed to make a change. Perhaps the highlight was the Bud Vase wall that she constructed from scratch for my seating chart. It was beyond what you see on Instagram and Pinterest. She also provided a chuppah which was more sturdy and beautiful than any I found elsewhere, and was hands on with managing the set up and take down of all the decor. I was worried about “spending so much on flowers” but honestly the flowers/decor/experience working with her was easily one of my favorite parts of my wedding, and worth every penny and then some. Her pricing is a steal for what you get with her.

    Flowers by Jo-Ann

    5.0

    Middletown, NY
    • Starts at $5,000

Your wedding day is one of the most important events in your life. Let us customize flowers to your wedding vision and give you the wedding of your dreams. We are a local family owned business that has been part of the community since 1966. From small to large, weddings are our passion. Let us be a part of your special day. Call us to schedule a free consultation or an informal chat as to your floral needs.

The flowers at our wedding were absolutely stunning! My initial meeting with Debbie was wonderful, she is so knowledgable and really listened to me, used my reference photos, and took time to show us photos of work, pull out fresh flowers from the back, and go over every detail (ribbon color and style, pin style, bouquet size, bouquet shape, containers... etc.). I have a huge appreciation for the work that Flowers by Jo-Ann put it because I cannot begin to understand all of the thought/timing and artistry that goes into floral arranging. It is a true art combined with precise planning! I am so appreciative of all the work Debbie did after our initial meeting, which included sharing photos of available flowers and colors with me to get a good sense of what I liked. The entire planning process was transparent. If a particular flower I liked was costly it was discussed upfront immediately. If the season wasn't right for a specific flower I referenced, Debbie let me know immediately and found alternates to work within my color palette that were equally as beautiful. I can't stress what a great experience it was to sit down with Debbie, to have an open discussion, feel like I was listened to, look at photos, look at different flowers, and have a very collaborative experience when creating the vision for our wedding flowers. I felt that everything was customized based on what we liked. I trusted Debbie and the team at Flowers by Jo-Ann and the result was more beautiful than anything we had imagined. Friends and family complimented our centerpieces all night, and one friend said, "This centerpiece is SO YOU, I can't get over it!". I was equally thrilled with my bouquet and loved everything the team put together for us. Thank you so much Flowers by Jo-Ann, you helped make our day absolutely beautiful!

    TK Floral Designs LLC

    5.0

    Modena, NY
    • Starts at $10,000

I am Tyler Keeno, the Head Designer of TK Floral Designs LLC. I run this wonderful company with my partner Randy Nogueira, and have been involved in this industry for 6 years now. I cannot picture life doing anything but designing beautiful wedding flowers! My love story with flowers is very simple - sometimes it just happens that way in our lives. There is nothing more meaningful, fulfilling, or rewarding in this life than bringing beautiful floral art to a wedding to transform that special day. I can’t wait to begin this journey with you.

I don't even know where to begin!! From start to finish, working with TK Floral for our wedding day was an absolute pleasure. At the beginning of wedding planning, I had a vision; romantic, enchanted, fairytale, but I couldn't put my vision together. After speaking to Tyler for the first time, he completely understood my thoughts and listened to every detail. He made me feel so comfortable and I trusted his vision. I was thrilled to see his initial proposal and all of the different ideas he had come up with after a 15 minute consultation call. Throughout the wedding planning process, whenever I called with a different idea, Tyler was all ears and ready to build something new. The day of our wedding was absolutely flawless, our guests still rave over how stunning our flowers were. The night truly looked like we were dancing through an enchanted fairytale. Working with Tyler and Randy was a dream, 5 stars isn't a high enough rating to match how incredible they are!

There is so many lovely things I can say about Britt, I don't even know where to begin! From the first time we met, our visions just totally clicked and I really dug her artistry and her vast knowledge about florals/decors. I've also spoken to many florists prior to meeting Britt, and it was really hard to find someone with a portfolio that is modern, sophisticated, and elegant. Britt's work simply speak for themselves! Britt was also so kind and professional, she made recommendations that benefited us, and pushed for cheaper alternatives in instances when she felt that it made more sense. She took the time to come to our wedding venue to get a feel of our aesthetics, and she went above and beyond on the day of our wedding and helped set up our tables even though that was clearly not her job. We love her so much, and know that she will be the best decision other couples can make on their wedding day as well!

Working with Jen was wonderful and seamless. She helps you every step of the way to figure out what you would like. The DIY class was so much fun, and we were able to build all of our centerpieces, boutonnières, and bouquets. Jen also built my cascade bouquet and beautiful garland for us! First of all - the end product was just beautiful. Everything from the bridal bouquet to the ceremony flowers to the table styling was exquisite and super unique. Shannon did a great job incorporating my favorite color (yellow) and a whimsical, organic wildness into the design exactly as I had hoped. From our first meeting to the written proposal, Shannon interpreted my thoughts and ideas exactly. I was so impressed that she took my ramblings and half ideas and pulled them together into what I was seeing in my head. Shannon’s GORGEOUS color palette informed the entire wedding design and gave me a jumping off point for invitations, bridesmaid dresses, other decor, etc. Unfortunately, the process of working with Shannon was a bit challenging. She struggled with nailing down details: incorrect number of tables, inconsistent accounting of candles/bud vases, etc. It took a number of incorrect proposal drafts until we got it right - just weeks before the wedding. We were honestly quite disappointed by Shannon’s flexibility and communication. She self-describes as being highly collaborative, but that was not our experience. First, as beer nerds, having hops in the design was super important to us, and while she flagged early on it could be an issue to source real ones, we discussed using fake. While we all agreed that she shouldn’t use fake hops if they looked bad, we were sad to see on the day of that they didn’t make it into the design. It would have been nice to have heard a heads up from her that she didn’t plan to use them - even if it was just a brief mention on the day-of. Second, when our cake plans fell through at the last minute, we asked Shannon if she could possibly supply a few flowers for our small 6” cutting cake. She told us she would try, but later we heard from the bakery that she had given them a flat no. She never communicated her decision to us. Thankfully, the bakery pulled something together for us (shout out to Zest Pastry!). Third, the Monday before the wedding, Shannon sent an alarming email with the subject line “Head Advisory, Oh No!”, asking us what our plan was. Getting any email titled “Oh No” isn’t fun to receive less than a week before your wedding. Further, as a trusted wedding vendor, we would hope that she would have plans for weather or unexpected events rather than looking to us during a very stressful period. Lastly, (and most disappointingly) despite having a run of day schedule, Shannon was nowhere to be found when it was time to put on boutonnieres and corsages. Our photographers and party thankfully jumped in to help to avoid major delays to portraits (shout out to Katie Slater!). Fundamentally, the product Shannon provided was beyond compare - everything was beautiful. That said, the communication, coordination, and organization were lacking from our experience.

    Awarded Best of Zola
If I'm being honest, when we started the wedding planning process and needed to figure out what elements of the day we wanted to prioritize and spend money on, florals didn't start off at the top of our list. We weren't sure how much we cared about that aspect of the wedding and certainly didn't have much of a vision for what we wanted so we had no clue where to even start... And then our wedding planner connected us with Sara. Not only was she a genuine pleasure to work with, but she is SO unbelievably creative and talented. She listened to our ideas and shared her own without ever pushing us to do anything we didn't like, and the more it started to come together the more excited I got. When our wedding day came and I finally saw it all come to life, I cried. Every single detail was more perfect and beautiful than I could have ever imagined, and it truly was one of my favorite things about our wedding. THANK YOU, Sara - we are forever grateful to you for helping to make our special day into a fairytale. We love you!

I did a lot of searching and looking into different diy flower companies. As soon as I came across bloom culture and read some of the reviews I knew I wanted to go with them! Alison was so friendly and personable and so easy to work with. She helped put me at ease by answering all of my questions and even helped me to swap out a couple of the flowers in one of the packages to better match my vision for my wedding. I was a little nervous about the flowers lasting all the way until the wedding day (my wedding was on a Sunday and they arrived Wednesday) but by the day of they had opened up beautifully and looked amazing. There were also hardly any flowers damaged or broken when they arrived. With all of the detailed instructions and recipes they provided, putting together the flowers was honestly a breeze once we got started. We didn’t follow the instructions specifically because I had a different number of bouquets, center pieces, etc. that I need to make, but the recipes and instructions were still super helpful. I also watched Alison’s YouTube videos beforehand which helped a ton! Overall very happy with the quality of the flowers, the price, and the excellent customer service. Cannot recommend enough!

Andrew brought our vision to light with the most honest, daring, clear, stunning, and B E A U T I F U L authenticity any bride could dream of. We knew the floral aesthetic were going to be a key to bring component for bringing to life the centering our BIG Black Queer Love. Since it was a very intentional Black queer celebration honoring our love and commitment, the floral choices and expertise Andrew brought was the linchpin to success, from the very beginning with our first "Get-to-know-each-other" call throughout the process including a venue walk-through up right through the big day. He ensured each detail of our wedding arrangements conveyed our intention while centering our rustic elegant color palette -- a compliment to the autumnal mountain backdrop and made us feel so seen. The impeccable creativity Andrew brought to our more traditional accents -- the bridal bouquet and boutonniere, reception harlow stands -- were equally as elevated and aesthetically eye-dropping the energetic accents and more customized requests -- our flower-adorned chuppah, the ceremony wagon for the flower girl, and the floral chandelier. Andrew's energy is infectious and his preparation and seamless operation always gave us one less thing to worry about during the planning process. He uses an online system to track all exchanges and works with you to find inspirational images to ensure what you imagined is what will transpire on the day of. He also went out of his way to understand how his floral arrangement choices would adapt to any new details as planning unfolded, like ensuring the bridal bouquet perfectly replicated the vibrancy of peak fall foliage. I cannot stress enough that Andrew is the way to go!! He will ensure your special day has the visual energy for bringing to life all the love, connectedness, intimacy, excitement, and emotion of your wedding day!

    Boom & Bloom Floral Design

    5.0

    Middleburgh, NY
    • Starts at $7,500

Having spent decades in the trenches of the floral design and event production industries working beside renowned NYC and Southern California designers, Eliza Rose has brought her unique style to her own botanical studio, Boom & Bloom Floral Design. Eliza's signature style blends the timeless, decadent allure of the Dutch Masters paintings with the ephemeral beauty of nature. Embracing the Dutch tradition of capturing the essence of each season, Eliza utilizes native grown and foraged flowers from her property in the Great Northern Catskills as well as supporting local farms by sourcing blooms from their sustainably grown, seasonal crops.

I recently had the privilege of working with Boom and Bloom Flowers for my wedding, and I cannot express how thrilled I am with their exceptional service and breathtaking floral arrangements. From the moment I spoke with Eliza, I knew she would provide exceptional service with an unconventional creativity. Her keen eye for design, and creativity and artistry left me in awe. She took the time to truly understand my style, and it was evident that she was genuinely invested in making our special day a memorable one. The delivery and setup were seamless. They arrived well ahead of schedule to ensure everything was in place, leaving us with no worries on our big day. I couldn't be happier with our choice, and I highly recommend Boom and Bloom Flowers to any couple looking for a wedding florist who will think outside the box and exceed all expectations. Working with Naomi for our wedding florals was a DREAM and an exceptional experience from start to finish. We cannot recommend her and her team at Nectar and Vessel highly enough to other couples getting married. One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was hiring Naomi and her team and giving her complete creative freedom. She took that freedom, and spun floral magic into the most beautifully designed space we have ever seen. Her love for florals, and for creating beautiful moments for others shines in her work - and isn’t that what you want on your wedding day? To be surrounded by love through flowers that all your guests can feel? That’s the magic Naomi brings to weddings that is impossible to replicate. The floral designs and artistry that Naomi and her team created for our day were simply stunning. Beyond being beautiful, they were unique and felt personal to us. It was the talk of the wedding that none of the guests had ever seen a display like the florals at our wedding, and that each tablescape and design felt like a work of art. A few things additional things about working with N&V we’d like to highlight: Design and vision: Naomi not only executed a vision for our wedding florals and design, she shaped it from the very beginning. The proposal powerpoint was a detailed mood board of not only the florals, but the overall vibe and design for the wedding. For the bride or groom, like me, who was overwhelmed with how to make a wedding feel cohesive, personal, and intentionally designed, trust in Naomi to help jump start that process and hire her as one of your early vendors. Flawless logistics and professionalism: Working with N&V was completely stress free because Naomi and her team are true professionals. She was respectful of our budget, had a clear, well-structured contract, and payment through her professional portal was incredibly easy. Everything was delivered, set-up, and cleaned up flawlessly and on-time. Importantly, if there were any issues day-of, we didn’t hear about it or take on any of that stress (though with her careful planning, I bet there weren’t any fires to put out!) While these sound like boring logistics, all of this professional preparation on N&V’s part saved us a ton of time and stress wedding planning. Positivity and good energy: Naomi herself is the warmest and most effusively positive person - that was clear from our very first consultation call with her and was even more true on the day of our wedding. We felt showered in positivity throughout our experience working with her, which is exactly what you want on your big day! We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Nectar and Vessel, and specifically, Naomi and her wonderful team. Hire her early, trust her to work her magic and give her all the creative control, and then watch your wedding venue transform. Violet's Florist is an absolute hidden gem (especially for city weddings!!) and I cannot say enough good things about them, SO please excuse the long (glowing) review, but it's well deserved :-) .... I stumbled upon Violet, Hanna and team when I was in a VERY tight pinch (needed wedding florals in a matter of 4 days, right after Christmas) with a VERY tall ask on that order (300, delivered to the Upper East Side). My fiance and I made a last minute decision to elope at a small ceremony, ahead of our big one that was to be later that year, so my recently ill 95 year old grandma could attend. I nearly gave up on flowers for this small ceremony, after being shut down by 20 other florists in the area, then struck gold with Violet, who graciously told me not to worry about a thing and that it would be no problem.  I figured it was a 50/50 shot that I even saw the flowers (they were coming in from NJ for me), let alone that they'd be nice ones, given the time and budget constraints ... never did I ever expect to actually have beautiful arrangements, including a sweet corsage for our guest of honor and her nurse AND matching boutonnieres thrown in for my young nephew, who I mentioned my grandma adores. They truly made for the most memorable day and my mom, sisters and I will forever be grateful for the special treatment they showed our grandma. After that, it was a no brainer for who we would work with on our actual big day after that - our venues were pretty decorated already (Church of St Thomas More  Essex House Ballroom), so I was not sure how to go about complementing the very different details in both, but Violet and her team nailed it (yet, again!). We literally had guests fighting over who got to take the centerpieces home with them ha  Hanna was especially helpful with this day - We had a very hands on appointment in the store a few months out, where she guided me on looks within budget and made thoughtful recs (my flower knowledge was pretty limited, prior to our chat, I came to realize...was great to feel like an educated buyer!). She even helped in sending me links for Amazon purchases I could make to elevate the vibe, without having to pay an arm and a leg to get certain things through wedding vendors (ie taper candles amongst the florals, reusing arrangements from church at reception welcome etc).  Further, I later found out about so much behind the scenes work Hanna did, on my behalf with other vendors, handling "situations" before they became real situations and making sure I was not bothered with any of that stress unless really needed.... beyond professional and gracious on all fronts! BOOK THIS FLORIST!!!!! - you and your guests will be in love with your arrangements.   Even more, you'll actually feel good about the purchase (they are not in the business of ripping people, including brides!, off)  AND get to work with some of the sweetest, most genuine and extremely buttoned-up/professional people in the game.  No matter if you are NY or NJ based, you have nothing to worry about with this group being part of your team on the big day ... they execute smooth beyond belief :-)
