Katie's background is in fibers/textiles, costume making and millinery. Working with her hands has always come naturally. After exploring a range of mediums in art school, she discovered that flowers combined everything she loved about being an artist. Line, gesture, color and texture suddenly expressed in every single stem. A world of possibilities. She ran her first floral studio in her beloved San Francisco before venturing to the Hudson Valley. There isn’t a day that goes by that she’s not thinking about flowers. Katie's style reflects her free spirit, poetic conscience and her love for the wild spontaneity in nature.

    I am so thankful that I found Dark Diamond! They are not just florists, but true artists. They were so accommodating to work within my budget. The look of our flowers was inspired by the floral still life paintings by the old Dutch masters. On my wedding day when I saw my flowers, I was in awe of how incredible they were.
