We got to know Cedar Lakes by attending winter weekends and pop-up dinners while planning our wedding. Frankly, we worried that was a mistake as we got close to our wedding day -- after we had experienced CLE's hospitality a few times, our expectations were through the roof. Turns out, not a problem. With the help of the people at Cedar Lakes and our incredible team of vendors, despite our anticipation, we were absolutely floored. It was beyond perfect. The people at Cedar Lakes - each and every one of them - embody a blend of warmth and professionalism I've never witnessed anywhere. They treated every guest like family, every event went off exactly as planned, and if there were any problems that arose during the day, we never heard about them. At every turn, the CLE team added unique surprises that matched our own and our guests' style perfectly. We left (reluctantly) on Monday morning feeling as though we'd made friends at CLE, and have been treated like family every time we've returned. This is really a special place for us, and I can't emphasize enough how much of that comes from each and every person who works so hard to make CLE what it is. The food gets its own paragraph. This isn't wedding food, and its not restaurant food. It's some of the best I've had anywhere, and the CLE team executes it perfectly whether for 2 or 200. Not only is the food insanely delicious, but it is plated beautifully in a way that compliments your decor and is always paired with perfect specialty cocktails, wines, and other beverages. This was a huge reason why we chose CLE, and we are still hearing about each and every meal from our guests. All that said, the best part about this venue is the setting - it is a surreal environment to be surrounded by friends and family for a weekend, and enabled us to spend quality time with the people we love during our wedding. We can't imagine a better set-up than CLE. Having accommodations for nearly the entire wedding on site (and being there for the whole weekend) allowed us to be truly present with our guests. We were able to share some meals and downtime with our friends and family in a more causal settings, and we felt like we were able to be a part of the weekend our guests experienced (which, honestly, we are still a bit jealous of -- sports fields, two pools, a beer garden, not to mention the lake and the blob). It warms our hearts to hear over and over from our guests, even to this day, that it was the most fun they've ever had at a wedding. All in all, we looked at a lot of venues, and I cannot imagine having had our wedding anywhere else. This will forever be one of our favorite places on earth, and we're thrilled to see what's next for CLE and their team. It doesn't get any better than this.

We fell in love with this venue the moment we drove up the road. My husband and I grew up in NJ, live in Brooklyn, and were looking for a venue that felt like a nature retreat while still being accessible for our friends and family. Milford is a great town just down the road and the hotels are so close too. Linnea and Alec were so communicative and helpful with the endless lists of questions we sent them. We cannot thank them enough for setting the stage for the weekend - and I'm just so impressed with how seamless and easy it felt to use their venue. We were struck just by the beauty of the whole property. It's absolutely marvelous! We were surrounded by charming little bunnies and butterflies the whole weekend. We took advantage of the place for the whole weekend - a Friday night pizza truck party, multiple pool and hot tub hangouts, and a Sunday bagel brunch in the barn. Everybody was raving about the barn, farmhouse, and cottage. The sunset during the reception created a great atmosphere for our guests to congregate and enjoy the lawn. We felt right at home and it made our wedding so incredibly special.

Woodridge, NY

Nestled in the tranquil Catskill Mountains, just 90 miles from bustling NYC, lies The Outlier Inn—a serene 14-acre property. Here, amidst nature's embrace, we offer a haven from the city's hustle and bustle. Our versatile space serves as a retreat center, event venue, workshop hub, and even boasts a fiber and vegetable farm alongside a top-tier recording studio. We offer a variety of on-site accommodations which are included in our weekend Wedding Package. Whether your vision is an intimate gathering or a lavish celebration, we're dedicated to crafting your dream wedding into reality.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Space for a large guest list
  • Has onsite accommodations
  • Has a fun and festive vibe

Venue considerations

  • Does not have a dance floor
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • No venue-provided food services
The Outlier Inn is truly one-of-a-kind, offering so much more than your typical wedding venue. From the start, we knew it was something special. One of our favorite aspects was being able to bring all of our loved ones together in one place for the entire weekend, creating a unique experience where our family and friends were “trapped” in the best way—celebrating and bonding without distractions. If you’re someone who loves to party under the stars, and you enjoy envisioning and creating fun, personalized spaces, this is the venue for you. The property itself is a hidden gem, full of surprises at every turn. There’s so much to explore, from the charming tiny houses scattered throughout, to the inviting homemade hot tub and peaceful sauna, to the quirky hidden thrift shop/barn. We held our ceremony in the newly added amphitheater nestled in the woods—an intimate space surrounded by towering trees, creating a perfect natural backdrop for our vows. We were lucky with beautiful September weather, and the sound of our friends laughing and exploring the grounds will forever be a cherished memory. Josh, the owner of The Outlier, truly made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we met him, we knew this was “our” place. He is warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. During our first tour of the property, Josh even let us bottle-feed his adorable baby goat, “Frip”—a moment that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Leading up to the wedding, Josh was always available to offer guidance and advice, and throughout the weekend, his calm presence was a steady source of reassurance. Whether he was setting up bonfires, handling speakers and microphones, or just checking in on us, Josh ensured everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in every moment of our celebration. The only downside to having our wedding at The Outlier Inn is that we almost want to keep it a secret—it’s so magical, we’d love to keep it all to ourselves! But in all honesty, The Outlier Inn is an extraordinary venue, and we can’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you, Josh, for making our weekend so unforgettable!

Where do we even begin! We had our wedding November 30th, 2024 and had the absolute most perfect special day. We originally toured with Kyle and knew from then this would be our venue. Out of all the venues we toured, he was the most descriptive and passionate, answering any and all questions. From then on, everything was absolutely seamless and easy in every way. Jessica, who does floral and design…NO WORDS. She is an absolute gem to work with and master of florals. I had a very specific vision with colors and she made our wildest dreams come true. She met with me multiple times to ensure what I envisioned was what I wanted, and answered every single email so fast with my questions/changes/comments. Katrina was our coordinator through CKE, and was lovely to work with. She was there to answer any and all questions and extremely communicative leading up to wedding day when things can become stressful :) Day of she was also somehow always by our side the second we needed something. Lastly, the food…guests are still raving about it. It is beyond delicious and there are tons and tons of options to choose from. I have to give a special shoutout to the Lechon station, as people will not stop talking about how unique and amazing it was. We cannot thank the team at Crossed Keys enough for the dedication and attention to detail they put into making our day perfect. The communication is top notch, the food is beyond amazing, and the florals went beyond our wildest dreams.

We started the wedding planning process by starting to look at venues. Falkirk was the first venue we had toured and immediately fell in love with it. From seeing the golf course, the waterfall, the gazebo, and incredible views, it was breathtaking and we imagined ourselves getting married there immediately. We met with Andrea during our tour, and had the pleasure of getting to work with her throughout our planning process, and was absolutely incredible on the day of our wedding! She made herself available to answer our (many) questions, going over timelines, and ensuring that our vision and dreams for the day came true. They had it all, from phenomenal staff to incredible food, not to mention the stunning views. We could not have asked for better! They truly make you feel like a VIP throughout the entire wedding weekend. Andrea was an absolute gem to work with, and made sure everything we dreamed of came true. And when we got the opportunity to have fireworks during our reception?! To this day, we have friends and family still talking about the firework show. Andrea worked seamlessly with other vendors and the firework staff to make sure it was a surprise show that no one would forget. Our wedding day was a dream, and we are so glad we had it at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club. We are so incredibly happy we got the pleasure to work with them, and would recommend any couples that are starting the wedding planning process, to reach out to them.

Venue considerations

We didn’t go into our wedding with many clear ideas, but I had a clear “vibe” for the venue that I was looking for. We visited dozens of places and were about to give up when someone from a local restaurant told us to check out Magnolia. Thank god we did – I walked in and started tearing up. We didn’t have an appointment, but they gave us a tour anyway, and we fell in love. Although you can’t see it from the road, the moment you step inside Magnolia feels like you’ve entered a beautiful hidden forest glen. The only word we could think of to describe it, and the word we heard over and over from our guests, was “magical”. Everyone we met and worked with at Magnolia was great, but Cheyenne is truly amazing. By the end of the wedding day, it felt like we had gained a family member. She is so kind, thoughtful, creative, and fun. We called her with big problems and small questions and just curious thoughts, and each time she treated the conversation as the highest priority. She went out of her way to make sure our day was exactly how we pictured it, from finding us a local taco truck (and taste testing them for us!) to securing last minute umbrellas when the weather suddenly shifted. We called a lot of vendors, but after speaking with them, almost always ended up going with Cheyenne’s recommendation – we liked them best! And from food, to photography & videography, to music, we were happy with how everything turned out. Shout out to Love & Light, Mackey, and DJ Ruben! It did rain the day-of, but it only added to the beautiful scenery, the experience, and even the photos. The pavilion added plenty of cover for the majority of the night and Cheyenne coolly handled all wrinkles that appeared. We got married last year in June, and it’s taken a while to write this review, in part because it doesn’t quite feel like we can ever find the words to truly express our gratitude and appreciation for Cheyenne and Magnolia. Thank you for making our day feel as magical as we do when we’re together. Can’t wait to come back for our anniversary each year!

As a remarkably well-preserved example of a 19th-Century canal town and the site of a 400-year-old Lenape Indian village, Waterloo Village is an incredibly valuable piece of New Jersey history. Waterloo is open to the public as part of Allamuchy Mountain State Park and home to many events and educational programs to teach and inform visitors about the past. Waterloo Village is a truly magical venue, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience there. We first visited for a wedding and were immediately captivated by the rustic charm and historic atmosphere. After seeing how seamlessly everything ran that day, we knew it was the perfect place for our own wedding. The staff at Waterloo Village is outstanding—extremely friendly, helpful, and refreshingly low-pressure. They genuinely focus on making your day special without pushing you to spend beyond your budget. Their professionalism and warmth made the planning process enjoyable and stress-free. One of the highlights is their catering partner, JAM. Their commitment to farm-to-table dining is evident in every dish. Many of the ingredients are sourced fresh, some even from their urban garden, which adds a special touch. The food is not only fresh but absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for a beautiful venue with incredible staff and top-notch food, Waterloo Village is a fantastic choice!

Our wedding was this past September, and it was everything we could’ve asked for and more. Tricia and Marty both made it so easy during the entire process from booking and planning to the day of, they were so helpful, and took care of everything for us. The day flowed so smoothly with absolutely no issues whatsoever. All we had to do was show up and enjoy ourselves, and her and her crew ( who were also incredible!) handled everything for us and made for an amazing night. The landscape, flowers and decorations were beautiful, made for some very very nice pictures! We got a nothing but positive feedback about the location, the views, the food, everything. the bridal suite was perfect to get ready and hide in prior to the ceremony. She also took some incredible photos for us. They were an absolute pleasure to work with, and I hope we see them again for another wedding!

The Barn on Hubbard

5.0

Callicoon, NY
  • Up to 200 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor

Located in Callicoon, New York, The Barn on Hubbard is a rustic and charming wedding venue. This fully restored 19th-century barn is ideal for couples who want a vintage wedding with all the modern amenities required for remarkable celebrations. The barn was originally built in the 1800s by the Gabel family from Germany. Dairy farmers by trade, this barn was the family's home and livelihood for many generations. Surrounded by picturesque meadows and the Catskill Mountains, the barn is now a desirable wedding site for those dreaming of a naturalistic festivity.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Flexible event spaces
  • Has a dance floor for celebration
  • Raw space for complete customization

Venue considerations

  • Does not allow pets
  • No on-site bridal suite
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
The Barn on Hubbard was absolutely perfect in every way. We were married there in October 2018 and could not have asked for a better experience. The Barn's scenery in the Fall, set on a back road on a sprawling hill is to die for and made for wonderful photo opportunities. The Barn has beautiful natural lighting, a very cool bar built into an old silo, a great outdoor patio and a large lawn space perfect for games and activities. The best part about the Barn on Hubbard was that we were free to bring in all of our own vendors and decorate however we wanted, which helped us tremendously with cost savings. This wasn't your typical cookie-cutter venue where it is overpriced, one-stop shopping. We are from the city, so we thought it would be challenging to plan a wedding about 2 hours way, but Sara went above and beyond the call of duty. She provided excellent recommendations, was readily available to answer all questions, accommodated our rental company with drop off the day before, allowed us to decorate the day before, and helped to prepare a number of other things leading up to the wedding - not to mention everything she did the day of the event, from assisting with parking, to making sure everything was running smoothly. I highly recommend this venue for your wedding, or any event, I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Barn, the people who run it, and the time we had planning/celebrating our wedding! Coming from NYC, we had our eyes set on an indoor-outdoor venue that could capture the beauty of the Catskills region. We spent many weekends visiting venues and when we stepped into Wildflower on Watts we immediately knew that it was the one. Their entire property is meticulously designed from their landscaping to the barn architecture. Start to finish the experience was as amazing as their property. Bethany, who runs Wildflower, is the sweetest and kindest person I’ve ever worked with, which is something that was shared with all of our vendors and anyone that spoke with her. She helped us throughout the process and was incredibly patient with all of the little things we asked her about. The day of the wedding was perfect and we utilized everything they offered. We had an amazing landscaped backdrop for our outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour then enjoyed the night with dinner and dancing in their barn. Everything was perfect and couldn’t recommend this venue more. Thank you!

The guest house is an absolute bonus (we invited close friends to stay next door). And the folks at Seminary Hill are a pleasure to work with, especially the property manager Bill. He was beyond helpful and extremely friendly. The price of the venue was incredibly reasonable, and it allowed for a very personalized wedding which we loved (no required vendors). Wally, the owner, was amazing to work with. He had great recommendations for vendors, was very communicative and accommodating, and made the whole process so easy. We also loved that our friends could camp at the venue, which made figuring out transportation a lot easier. Lastly, the venue itself was so beautiful! We are SO grateful to Camp Lindenmere for having the most beautiful venue and the most supportive, helpful staff! I knew I wanted a camp wedding from day 1 of planning, but most camps require a lot of DIY. Kyle, Elliot and staff are SO on top of planning ,guest bookings, timelines, day of coordination, doing all the set up (I mean we literally brought in our mug favors and they put the little “thank you” tags on, they put batteries in our taper candles, etc. I swear they don’t say no.) The food all weekend was incredible, the drinks were flowing (my husband and I were CRAVING the ribs we had at the reception for a full week after). Our guests were really pleasantly surprised at the “country club” feel of the summer camp - staff is always around on golf carts to escort guests as needed, there’s even a beer golf cart going around on Saturday. The waterfront was beautiful, everyone got a kick out of the high ropes course, people were playing volleyball under the lights all hours of the night. They told us the after-party would end at 1:30 but we were partying til 3:30 and no one was kicking us out. I’m trying to convince everyone I know to get married here so I can come back as a guest!

Catskill Estate Wedding

5.0

Claryville, NY
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $4,000

This historic Japanese garden and summer cottage were built at the turn of the last century. A private estate spanning 125 acres of gardens, fields, streams, mountains and trails, it has remained in the same family all this time. The garden is recognized as an important example of the Japanese “strolling” garden from that era. Because the estate remains in private hands, it is made available by the family for special occasions on a limited basis (2-3 ceremonies per year) The venue includes the Japanese garden and the surrounding meadows and fields. If you are looking for a location for a formal wedding ceremony and reception or a destination wedding site for enjoyment with guests over a long weekend of fun, hiking, fly-fishing etc., this venue offers rare access to an exclusive, one-of-a-kind destination. We have partnered with the Frost Valley YMCA to provide lodging with hotel like accommodations and transportation for wedding parties to and from the estate.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Has a glamorous vibe
  • Combines timeless elegance with history
  • Venue is completely outdoors

Venue considerations

  • Requires outside catering services
  • No on-premises lodging options
  • Does not have a dance floor
So, I had been working with this family to be there caterer at the venue and then the pandemic hit. We postponed and postponed and finally, after almost two years of waiting we managed to get the event up and running and executed perfectly! It was truly a wonderful event. One of the most striking and important part of the event was the location. The grounds, hand sculpted by the families heir, and the hand built home are both stunning and unique. They offer a rustic but well thought out and lovingly crafted location to really create some memories and moments which will last a lifetime! Although it is not currently a location with all the bells and whistles (you need to provide your own bathrooms for example) it is a location that is special and unique and worth every minute you spend there.

Kismet House was the perfect venue for our wedding. From the moment we booked the space, the owners were incredibly helpful and efficient in their communication, answering all of our questions promptly. Their suggestions for the setup and use of the space were amazing and really helped make our day less stressful. The quality of their work and the overall value was worth every cent - the barn, pond, and every corner of the property provided a dreamlike backdrop that all of our guests raved about.
